1. The 7th Crusade
(1248-1254)
Made by Larry Baker and
Scott Hansen
2. Causes and Peoples Involved
The greater cause of the Seventh Crusade, and
therefore its goal, was to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy
Land for a Christian, non-Muslim, nation. The only nations
and people involved within this conflict were Louis IX, the
king of France at the time, and the nation that controlled
the Holy Land during this conflict, the Egyptian Turkic
dynasty, the Bahri dynasty, and the Muslim Kurdish dynasty
that controlled most of the Levant, the decaying Ayyubid
dynasty .
3. Conflict
The actual conflict during this short crusade
was very small, and involved several battles
in places like Egypt and in areas near the
Christian kingdoms near the Levant.
However, the French lost some of these
more- important battles, and were not
successful in gaining any new territory in the
long-term.
4. The Consequences
After this conflict, which only lasted a
mere 6 years, the Kingdom of France
suffered a major, embarrassing defeat,
losing almost its entire army to the Muslims.
There was no territorial change as a result of
this conflict (a status quo ante bellum).
