to Jerusalem. It was his
reaction that caused the
Seventh Crusade.
3. WHO FOUGHT IN THE BATTLE
•On the French Side was
Louis IX and his men, the
other side was led by the
Egyptians.
4. WHERE DID IT TAKE PLACE
This battle took place in a variety
of places. It took place in the
autumn to avoid summer heat, it
also took place at the mouth of the
Nile River, and other various parts
of Egypt. It was aimed in Egypt,
and started 1248. It took place in
southern France (Europe, middle
ages ect..).
5. • The failure of the crusade lessened the power of the pope.
The crusade weakened the the feudal nobility and increase
the power of kings. The fall of Constantinople weakened the
byzantine empire. Trade expanded between Europe and
south west Asia, some types of goods exchange were
spices, fruits, cloth. These benefit both Muslims and
Christians many knights lost their lives in the crusade.
6. HOW DID IT END
• The Egyptian’s broke into the French infantry,
representing the vast majority of the crusaders. Louis
IX was captured and could only be freed in May after
making a agreement to pay a ransom. After that was
done, a few of the crusaders returned to France. Louis
sailed to Acre where he engaged in a four year fruitless
diplomacy. He finally abandoned it and headed back to
France.
7. • The Seventh Crusade was a crusade led by Louis IX
of France from 1248 to 1254. Approximately 800,000
bezants were paid in ransom for King Louis who, along
with thousands of his troops, was captured and
defeated by the Egyptian army led by the Ayyubid
Sultan Turanshah supported by the Bahariyya Mamluks
led by Faris ad-Din Aktai, Baibars al-Bunduqdari, Qutuz
, Aybak and Qalawun. !6 years later, the eighth crusade
broke loose.
