Target Competency: Demonstrate common competencies in Receiving and
responding to workplace communication
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, students are
expected to:
A. Develop an understanding of the basics of communication and its
context in the workplace
B. Identify the fundamentals of communication
C. Follow Routine spoken messages
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Receiving and responding to workplace communication
B. Reference: Title: Receiving and responding to workplace
communication, (scw13 0904) LM 13 TVET-Programmed, Module
Contents LO1: Follow routine spoken messages, LO2. Perform
workplace duties following written notices p.5-12
C. Materials: laptop, television, notebook
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Attendance
3. Reminders
a. Classroom Rules & School Discipline
b. Cleanliness
c. Attending the classes regularly
A . Motivating activity
A. The teacher will group the students into 10. The leader will pic
a piece of paper into the bowl and he/she will go to the end of the line and whisper
the tongue twister word he/she read on the paper that he/she chose and the next
in line will whisper to the next and so on.
B. Analysis
1. Why do you fail in communication?
2. Do I take responsibility for what is being understood by the
listener?
3. Do I hear and understand the other person?
4. Do I pay respect to other people’s opinions?
5. How important is listening in communication?
6. Would you describe good/effective communication?
C. Abstraction
The teacher will introduce the topic of the day.
The teacher will let the students read the objectives.
The teacher will discuss the fundamentals of communication.
The teacher will also discuss how to follow routine spoken messages.

D. Application
The students will pick the name of their partner from a bowl.
The pair will pick a topic from another bowl.
The partner may start by answering the questions they picked from a
bowl with the use of eye contact, good listening, encouraging, and
asking questions.
After the allotted time, a pair presentation will follow.
E. Generalization
The teacher will ask the questions to the students.
1. How important is communication to our daily lives?
2. Will you be able to apply effective communication in your daily life
basis? In what way?
IV. Evaluation
The teacher will conduct a short quiz.
The teacher will be given 10 minutes to answer the quiz.
After 10 minutes, checking of papers will follow.
Answer on ¼ sheet of paper.
