2. Our Father in Heaven, once again we thank you for giving us another
opportunity to come together as a class and to start another day to
learn again. Before we start our online class, we ask for your guidance
and wisdom so that we could attend our classes very well as well as
absorb and understand our lessons easier. Help us and guide us to be
attentive to our lessons and help us understand that we may use them
in our lives. Lord, help our minds to absorb each lesson our teacher
teaches us and guide them as they teach us. Help us to be responsible
enough in our lessons and other activities that our teacher will give.
All this we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
34. Figure 3. Hosts and Parasites. Leeches feeding off of human skin.
35. Parasites rarely kill their
hosts right. Instead, they
keep them alive as long as
needed. In fact, the best
parasites never actually kill
their hosts, though they may
weaken them significantly.
Explain why parasites would
not
want to kill their hosts
immediately?
36. Mutualism
- is the type of interaction where both species
benefit from the relationships.
Flowers depend on bees to pollinate
and the bees sip the flowers nectar as a
food.
In this interaction, the bee is fed and the
second flower is pollinated for reproduction
37. THE BACTERIA AND HUMANS
Bacteria help humans to
digest food and humans
provide shelter and food to
bacteria.
38. Human and plants
Plants provide food which
humans eat, and oxygen which
humans breathe. And animals
provide carbon dioxide to plants
which plants need to survive.
39. Crocodile and the Plover
The plover cleans the
teeth of the crocodile
• How does the plover benefit?
• How does the crocodile
benefit?
40. Commensalism
- is the type of interaction where one organism
benefits while the other is not harmed nor affected
EXAMPLE:
Orchids and other plants that often live in the
branches of trees gain better access to sunlight
without affecting the trees
43. Directions: Read each of the relationship scenarios below. Identify the two
organisms involved in the boxes labeled ‘Organism 1’ and ‘Organism 2’, and
identify whether they benefit, are harmed, or are neutral in the
relationship. Lastly, classify what type of symbiosis each example is in the
third column.

47. CLOSING PRAYER
Our Father in Heaven,
We thank you for allowing us to end this day
successfully.
We thank you for our mentors who have shared
their knowledge with us.
We thank you for letting us share and interact
with each other online.
We may not be together physically but through
your blessing, we are able to learn and advance
our knowledge and skills.
Grant that we may pursue our education despite
the problems that come our way.
May you allow us to gain more information and
send
your Holy Spirit that we could use this
