1.IARI ( INDIAN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE ), NEW DELHI
 Also known as PUSA INSTITUTE
 Firstly established as ‘ARI’ in 1905 , PUSA (BIHAR).
 29th July 1936 ; the institute was shifted to Delhi.
 ‘IARI’ is a milestone for agricultural research, education and
extension in the country.
2. NDRI (NATIONAL DAIRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE), KARNAL, HARYANA
 Firstly established as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and
Dairying in 1923, Bangalore
 In 1955 NDRI headquarter was shifted to KARNAL.
 The NDRI as the premier Dairy Research Institution undertakes
research, teaching and extension activities towards dairy
development in the country.
3.IVRI (INDIAN VETERINARY RESEARCH INSTITUTE), IZZATNAGAR,
BAREILLY (UP)
 Established in 1889 in Pune, Maharashtra as Imperial
Bacteriological, Laboratory (IBL).
 In 1893 Shifting of the IBL to Mukteswar, Kumaon Hills of Uttar
Pradesh (now in Uttarakhand).
 Production of first batch of anti- rinderpest serum = 1899
 Birth of Izzatnagar campus = 1913
 The institute continues to play an important role in quality
control and potency testing of immunobiologicals to various
stakeholders with a good liaison with industry.
4. CIFE (CENTRAL INSTITUTE ON FISHERIES EDUCATION) ,
MUMBAI
 Establishment date = 06 June 1961 (in Mumbai)
 The CIFE was established as an inservice training center to impart
proficient training and education to fisheries professionals so as
to equip them to face the growing challenges in the fisheries
sector.

NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRES
1. NRCE (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON EQUINES),
HISAR, HARYANA
 NRCE was established during 7th five-year plan under the aegis of
ICAR for research on equine health and production.
 The initial joining of the Project Director at ICAR headquarter on
26th November 1985.
 The Centre became operational at Hisar on 7th Jan. 1986 for
conducting researches and for providing effective health coverage
for equines.
 A sub-campus at Bikaner, Rajasthan was created during 1989 for
conducting researches for improving the technologies for
optimization of reproduction and work performance of the equines.
2. NRCC (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON CAMEL),
BIKANER, RAJASTHAN
 The Government of India established a Project Directorate on
Camel at Bikaner (India) on 5th July 1984 under aegis of ICAR.
 Which was upgraded to National Research Center on Camel
(NRCC) on 20 September, 1995.
 The NRCC is focusing on basic and applied research on one
humped camel (Camelus dromedarius).
 The NRCC is also focusing issues of double humped camel
(Camelus bactrianus) found in the cold desert of Nubra Valley of
Laddakh region.
3. NRCP (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON PIG), GUWAHATI,
ASSAM
 The mid term appraisal committee constituted by ICAR in 1990.
 NRCP was established to review the work of the All India Coordinated
Centres on Pig.
 The NRCP is in the North Eastern part of the country where 28% of
country’s pig population is distributed.
 ICAR approved the establishment of one NRC on pig at Rani, Guwahati,
Assam towards the fag end of the IX five year plan.
 All existing AICRP centres were merged with the NRC and the post of
project coordinator was upgraded to the position of Director.
4. NRCM (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON MEAT),
HYDERABAD
 National Research Centre on Meat was initiated at IVRI campus,
Izzatnagar in 1986.
 Later shifted to Hyderabad in the year of 1999.
 It started functioning as its own campus from April 2007.
 NRCM is a premier institution of meat research to solve the
problems and face challenges of meat and allied sectors
development.
 Development of modern organized meat sector through meat
production, processing and utilization technologies to serve
the cause of meat animal producers, processors and consumers.
5. NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON MITHUN,
MEDZIPHEMA, NAGALAND
 Established in 1988.
 National Research Centre on Mithun was established at
Medziphema, Dimapur, Nagaland under the ICAR.
 The mandate of the institute was redefined in 1997 and 2006.
 The major function is to identification, evaluation and
characterization of mithun germplasm available in the country as
well as conservation and improvement of mithun for meat and milk.
6. NRCY (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON YAK),
WEST KEMENG, ARUNACHAL PRADESH
 The NRCY was established in 1989 by ICAR.
 Location – Dirang, West Kemeng, Arunachal Pradesh.
 NRCY is a premier research institute for research and
development of Yak(Poephagus grunniens L.) in India.
 Research institute = Dirang, AP
Experimental yak farm = Nyukmadung (31 km from Dirang)
7. NRCO (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON ORCHIDS),
PAKYONG, SIKKIM
 NRCO was established on 5th October 1996 by ICAR.
 AIMS - To organize program on improvement in productivity,
quality and commercialization of orchids.
 The Sikkim state authorities handed over 22.19 acres of land
belonging to Regional Agricultural Centre along with a all other
assets to ICAR for establishment of the centre.
8. NRCB (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR BANANA),
TRUCHIRAPALLI, TAMIL NADU
 Established on 21st August 1993 .
 Location- Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu by ICAR.
 AIMS - To increase the production and productivity of banana
and plantains.
 NRCB mainly research on -Crop Improvement
Crop Production
Post Harvest Management
Crop Protection
9. NRCG (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR GRAPES),
PUNE, MAHARASHTRA
 Established on 18th January 1997.
 Location - Manjri, Pune, Maharashtra.
Mandate of NRCG –
1. Strategic and applied research on safe grape production and
productivity.
2. National Referral Laboratory for Food Safety and Pesticide
residue in fruits.
3. Transfer of technology and capacity building of stakeholders for
enhanced and sustained production of grapes.
10. NRCL (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR LITCHI),
MUZAFFARPUR, BIHAR
 Established on 6th June, 2001.
 The Centre started functioning from 2002.
 NRCL is a centre of excellence in the field of litchi research,
extension and skill development for providing livelihood security
and economic prosperity to litchi growers and traders. (Vision)
 Harnessing science and technology by interfacing research and
extension activities for enhanced quality production, productivity,
processing and use diversification for sustained litchi production,
industry and trade. (Mission)
11. NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR POMEGRANATE,
SOLAPUR, MAHARASHTRA
 Established on June 16, 2005 .
 Location – Kegaon, North Solapur Taluk, Solapur (Maharashtra)
 The centre was established to fulfill the growing demand for
pomegranate both in domestic and export market through tapping
the immense production potential prevailing in the country.
12. NRCSS (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON SEED
SPIECES), AJMER, RAJASTHAN
 Established in – 22 April,2000 by ICAR.
 Location - Tabiji overbridge, tabiji, Ajmer Bypass, Tabeeji Rural,
Rajasthan .
 The mandate of this institute is to carry out basic, applied and
strategic research for the improvement of seed spices crops.
13. NCIPM (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR
INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT), NEW DELHI
 Established in February 12, 1988.
 Location - Rajpur Khurd, Mehrauli, New Delhi .(New Campus)
 AIMS - to develop and promote Integrated Pest Management
(IPM) technologies for major crops with minimum ecological
implications; generate national database on all aspects of pest
management, advice national priorities and pest management
policies; establish linkages with national and international
institutes in the area of IPM and to extend technical
consultancies
14. (MGIFRI) MAHATMA GANDHI INTEGRATED FARMING
RESEARCH INSTITUTE, MOTIHARI, BIHAR
 Former name- (NRCIF) National research centre on integrated
farming.
 Location – Motihari (East champaran), Bihar.
Mandate –
• Transform low productivity-high potential eastern region into high
productivity region for food, nutritional and livelihood security.
• Utilization of seasonally waterlogged and perennial water bodies for
multiple uses of water.
• Promote network and consortia research in the eastern region.
NATIONAL BUREAUX
1. NBAGR ( NATIONAL BUREAU OF ANIMAL GENETIC
RESOURCES), KARNAL, HARYANA
 Established on 21st September, 1984, at the campus of NDRI
(southern regional station), Bangalore.
 shifted to Karnal on 19th July, 1985. (Temporary office)
 Final new office cum lab. Inauguration on 28th Nov. 1988 .

OBJECTIVES OF NBAGR –
1. To conduct systematic surveys to characterise, evaluate and
catalogue farm livestock and poultry genetic resources and to
establish their National Data Base.
2. To design methodologies for ex situ conservation and in situ
management and optimal utilization of farm animal genetic
resources.
3. To undertake studies on genetic characterisation using modern
biological techniques such as molecular cytogenetics,
Immunology, DNA Fingerprinting, RFLP analysis etc.
4. To conduct training programmes as related to evaluation,
characterisation and utilisation of animal genetic resources.
2. NBPGR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT GENETIC
RESOURCES), NEW DELHI
 First independent institute – ‘NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT
INTRODUCTION’ (August, 1976)
 Renamed as – ‘NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES’
in January 1977 .
 The Bureau has five Divisions, three units and an experimental
farm at its Headquarters in New Delhi and 10 Regional Stations
located in different phyto-geographical zones of the country.

OBJECTIVES OF NBPGR –
 To plan, organize, conduct and coordinate exploration and
collection of indigenous and exotic plant genetic resources.
 To undertake introduction, exchange and quarantine of plant
genetic resources.
 To characterize, evaluate, document and conserve crop genetic
resources and promote their use, in collaboration with other national
organizations.
 To develop information network on plant genetic resources.
 To conduct research, undertake teaching and training, develop
guidelines and create public awareness on plant genetic resources.
3.NBAIM (NATIONAL BUREAU OF AGRICULTURALLY
IMPORTANT MICRO-ORGANISM), MAU, UTTAR PRADESH
 Initially established in 2001 (New Delhi)
 Final shifting on 1st June, 2004 to Kushmaur.
 Location - Kushmaur, Mau Nath Bhanjan, U.P.
 ΝBAIM wants to act as the nodal Institute at national level for
acquisition and management of indigenous and exotic microbial
genetic resources for food and agriculture, and to carry out
related research and human resource development, for sustainable
growth of agriculture.

 Conservation, maintenance and utilization of AIMs

4. NBAIR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF AGRICULTURAL INSECT
RESOURCES), BENGALURU, KARNATAKA
 Former name – ‘National Bureau of Agriculturally Important
Insects’ (NBAII)
 In 12th five year plan , it was renamed as NBAIR .
 Location – Bellary Road, H.A. Farm Post, Hebbal, Bengaluru,
Karnataka
 It is a premier institute for collection, characterization,
documentation, conservation, exchange and utilization of
agriculturally important insect resources (including mites and
spiders) for sustainable agriculture.
5. NBSS & LUP (NATIONAL BUREAU OF SOIL SURVEY AND
LAND USE PLANNING), NAGPUR, MAHARASHTRA
 Firstly Established in 1956 as ‘All India Soil Survey Organization’.
 Final independent institute in 1976 as NBSS & LUP .
 NBSS & LUP is purely dedicated to conduct and promote research in
the National Agriculture Research System in the areas of-
1.Soil Survey 2.Pedology
3.Geomorphology 4.Remote Sensing Geographic Information System
5.Cartography 6.Land Evaluation
7.Land Use Planning.
6. NBFGR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF FISH GENETIC
RESOURCES), LUCKNOW, UP
 Firstly established in December 1983 (Allahabad).
 Permanent building established in 1999 at Canal Ring Road,
Telibagh, Lucknow, U.P.
AIMS OF NBFGR - Assessment and conservation of fish genetic
resources for intellectual property protection, sustainable utilization
and posterity.
 NBFGR has also established ‘Ganga Aquarium’;one of the largest
and magnificent public aquariums in the country which is serving
as a great source of spreading public awareness and education
about fish diversity of the country.

ICAR Research Centres Guide

  • 1. RESEARCH CENTRES/ INSTITUTIONS OF ICAR ( PART – 1 ) Prepared by: RAHUL KATARIA
  • 2. ICAR (INDIAN COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH), NEW DELHI  ICAR is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare , Government of India.  Former name = Imperial Council of Agricultural Research  Establishment date – 16 July 1929  ICAR institutions = 101 Deemed universities = 4 Institutions = 65 National Research centers = 14 National Bureaux = 6 Directorates/Project D. = 13  Agricultural Universities = 71

DEEMEED UNIVERSITIES 1.IARI ( INDIAN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE ), NEW DELHI  Also known as PUSA INSTITUTE  Firstly established as ‘ARI’ in 1905 , PUSA (BIHAR).  29th July 1936 ; the institute was shifted to Delhi.  ‘IARI’ is a milestone for agricultural research, education and extension in the country.

NDRI (NATIONAL DAIRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE), KARNAL, HARYANA  Firstly established as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 1923, Bangalore  In 1955 NDRI headquarter was shifted to KARNAL.  The NDRI as the premier Dairy Research Institution undertakes research, teaching and extension activities towards dairy development in the country.
  • 5. 3.IVRI (INDIAN VETERINARY RESEARCH INSTITUTE), IZZATNAGAR, BAREILLY (UP)  Established in 1889 in Pune, Maharashtra as Imperial Bacteriological, Laboratory (IBL).  In 1893 Shifting of the IBL to Mukteswar, Kumaon Hills of Uttar Pradesh (now in Uttarakhand).  Production of first batch of anti- rinderpest serum = 1899  Birth of Izzatnagar campus = 1913  The institute continues to play an important role in quality control and potency testing of immunobiologicals to various stakeholders with a good liaison with industry.

CIFE (CENTRAL INSTITUTE ON FISHERIES EDUCATION) , MUMBAI  Establishment date = 06 June 1961 (in Mumbai)  The CIFE was established as an inservice training center to impart proficient training and education to fisheries professionals so as to equip them to face the growing challenges in the fisheries sector.  Other centers of CIFE- 1. CIFE, Kolkata (WB) 2. CIFE, Rohtak (Haryana) 3. CIFE, Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh) 4. CIFE, Powarkheda (MP) 5. CIFE, Motihari (Bihar)
  • 7. NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRES 1. NRCE (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON EQUINES), HISAR, HARYANA  NRCE was established during 7th five-year plan under the aegis of ICAR for research on equine health and production.  The initial joining of the Project Director at ICAR headquarter on 26th November 1985.  The Centre became operational at Hisar on 7th Jan. 1986 for conducting researches and for providing effective health coverage for equines.  A sub-campus at Bikaner, Rajasthan was created during 1989 for conducting researches for improving the technologies for optimization of reproduction and work performance of the equines.

NRCC (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON CAMEL), BIKANER, RAJASTHAN  The Government of India established a Project Directorate on Camel at Bikaner (India) on 5th July 1984 under aegis of ICAR.  Which was upgraded to National Research Center on Camel (NRCC) on 20 September, 1995.  The NRCC is focusing on basic and applied research on one humped camel (Camelus dromedarius).  The NRCC is also focusing issues of double humped camel (Camelus bactrianus) found in the cold desert of Nubra Valley of Laddakh region.

NRCP (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON PIG), GUWAHATI, ASSAM  The mid term appraisal committee constituted by ICAR in 1990.  NRCP was established to review the work of the All India Coordinated Centres on Pig.  The NRCP is in the North Eastern part of the country where 28% of country’s pig population is distributed.  ICAR approved the establishment of one NRC on pig at Rani, Guwahati, Assam towards the fag end of the IX five year plan.  All existing AICRP centres were merged with the NRC and the post of project coordinator was upgraded to the position of Director.

NRCM (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON MEAT), HYDERABAD  National Research Centre on Meat was initiated at IVRI campus, Izzatnagar in 1986.  Later shifted to Hyderabad in the year of 1999.  It started functioning as its own campus from April 2007.  NRCM is a premier institution of meat research to solve the problems and face challenges of meat and allied sectors development.  Development of modern organized meat sector through meat production, processing and utilization technologies to serve the cause of meat animal producers, processors and consumers.
  • 11. 5. NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON MITHUN, MEDZIPHEMA, NAGALAND  Established in 1988.  National Research Centre on Mithun was established at Medziphema, Dimapur, Nagaland under the ICAR.  The mandate of the institute was redefined in 1997 and 2006.  The major function is to identification, evaluation and characterization of mithun germplasm available in the country as well as conservation and improvement of mithun for meat and milk.

NRCY (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON YAK), WEST KEMENG, ARUNACHAL PRADESH  The NRCY was established in 1989 by ICAR.  Location – Dirang, West Kemeng, Arunachal Pradesh.  NRCY is a premier research institute for research and development of Yak(Poephagus grunniens L.) in India.  Research institute = Dirang, AP Experimental yak farm = Nyukmadung (31 km from Dirang)

NRCO (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON ORCHIDS), PAKYONG, SIKKIM  NRCO was established on 5th October 1996 by ICAR.  AIMS - To organize program on improvement in productivity, quality and commercialization of orchids.  The Sikkim state authorities handed over 22.19 acres of land belonging to Regional Agricultural Centre along with a all other assets to ICAR for establishment of the centre.

NRCB (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR BANANA), TRUCHIRAPALLI, TAMIL NADU  Established on 21st August 1993 .  Location- Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu by ICAR.  AIMS - To increase the production and productivity of banana and plantains.  NRCB mainly research on -Crop Improvement Crop Production Post Harvest Management Crop Protection
  • 15. 9. NRCG (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR GRAPES), PUNE, MAHARASHTRA  Established on 18th January 1997.  Location - Manjri, Pune, Maharashtra. Mandate of NRCG – 1. Strategic and applied research on safe grape production and productivity. 2. National Referral Laboratory for Food Safety and Pesticide residue in fruits. 3. Transfer of technology and capacity building of stakeholders for enhanced and sustained production of grapes.

NRCL (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR LITCHI), MUZAFFARPUR, BIHAR  Established on 6th June, 2001.  The Centre started functioning from 2002.  NRCL is a centre of excellence in the field of litchi research, extension and skill development for providing livelihood security and economic prosperity to litchi growers and traders. (Vision)  Harnessing science and technology by interfacing research and extension activities for enhanced quality production, productivity, processing and use diversification for sustained litchi production, industry and trade. (Mission)

NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR POMEGRANATE, SOLAPUR, MAHARASHTRA  Established on June 16, 2005 .  Location – Kegaon, North Solapur Taluk, Solapur (Maharashtra)  The centre was established to fulfill the growing demand for pomegranate both in domestic and export market through tapping the immense production potential prevailing in the country.

NRCSS (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON SEED SPIECES), AJMER, RAJASTHAN  Established in – 22 April,2000 by ICAR.  Location - Tabiji overbridge, tabiji, Ajmer Bypass, Tabeeji Rural, Rajasthan .  The mandate of this institute is to carry out basic, applied and strategic research for the improvement of seed spices crops.

NCIPM (NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE FOR INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT), NEW DELHI  Established in February 12, 1988.  Location - Rajpur Khurd, Mehrauli, New Delhi .(New Campus)  AIMS - to develop and promote Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technologies for major crops with minimum ecological implications; generate national database on all aspects of pest management, advice national priorities and pest management policies; establish linkages with national and international institutes in the area of IPM and to extend technical consultancies
  • 20. 14. (MGIFRI) MAHATMA GANDHI INTEGRATED FARMING RESEARCH INSTITUTE, MOTIHARI, BIHAR  Former name- (NRCIF) National research centre on integrated farming.  Location – Motihari (East champaran), Bihar. Mandate – • Transform low productivity-high potential eastern region into high productivity region for food, nutritional and livelihood security. • Utilization of seasonally waterlogged and perennial water bodies for multiple uses of water. • Promote network and consortia research in the eastern region.
  • 21. NATIONAL BUREAUX 1. NBAGR ( NATIONAL BUREAU OF ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES), KARNAL, HARYANA  Established on 21st September, 1984, at the campus of NDRI (southern regional station), Bangalore.  shifted to Karnal on 19th July, 1985. (Temporary office)  Final new office cum lab. Inauguration on 28th Nov. 1988 .
  • 22. CONTINUE.. OBJECTIVES OF NBAGR – 1. To conduct systematic surveys to characterise, evaluate and catalogue farm livestock and poultry genetic resources and to establish their National Data Base. 2. To design methodologies for ex situ conservation and in situ management and optimal utilization of farm animal genetic resources. 3. To undertake studies on genetic characterisation using modern biological techniques such as molecular cytogenetics, Immunology, DNA Fingerprinting, RFLP analysis etc. 4. To conduct training programmes as related to evaluation, characterisation and utilisation of animal genetic resources.
  • 23. 2. NBPGR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES), NEW DELHI  First independent institute – ‘NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT INTRODUCTION’ (August, 1976)  Renamed as – ‘NATIONAL BUREAU OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES’ in January 1977 .  The Bureau has five Divisions, three units and an experimental farm at its Headquarters in New Delhi and 10 Regional Stations located in different phyto-geographical zones of the country.

OBJECTIVES OF NBPGR –  To plan, organize, conduct and coordinate exploration and collection of indigenous and exotic plant genetic resources.  To undertake introduction, exchange and quarantine of plant genetic resources.  To characterize, evaluate, document and conserve crop genetic resources and promote their use, in collaboration with other national organizations.  To develop information network on plant genetic resources.  To conduct research, undertake teaching and training, develop guidelines and create public awareness on plant genetic resources.
  • 25. 3.NBAIM (NATIONAL BUREAU OF AGRICULTURALLY IMPORTANT MICRO-ORGANISM), MAU, UTTAR PRADESH  Initially established in 2001 (New Delhi)  Final shifting on 1st June, 2004 to Kushmaur.  Location - Kushmaur, Mau Nath Bhanjan, U.P.  ΝBAIM wants to act as the nodal Institute at national level for acquisition and management of indigenous and exotic microbial genetic resources for food and agriculture, and to carry out related research and human resource development, for sustainable growth of agriculture.

NBAIR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF AGRICULTURAL INSECT RESOURCES), BENGALURU, KARNATAKA  Former name – ‘National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Insects’ (NBAII)  In 12th five year plan , it was renamed as NBAIR .  Location – Bellary Road, H.A. Farm Post, Hebbal, Bengaluru, Karnataka  It is a premier institute for collection, characterization, documentation, conservation, exchange and utilization of agriculturally important insect resources (including mites and spiders) for sustainable agriculture.

NBSS & LUP (NATIONAL BUREAU OF SOIL SURVEY AND LAND USE PLANNING), NAGPUR, MAHARASHTRA  Firstly Established in 1956 as ‘All India Soil Survey Organization’.  Final independent institute in 1976 as NBSS & LUP .  NBSS & LUP is purely dedicated to conduct and promote research in the National Agriculture Research System in the areas of- 1.Soil Survey 2.Pedology 3.Geomorphology 4.Remote Sensing Geographic Information System 5.Cartography 6.Land Evaluation 7.Land Use Planning.

NBFGR (NATIONAL BUREAU OF FISH GENETIC RESOURCES), LUCKNOW, UP  Firstly established in December 1983 (Allahabad).  Permanent building established in 1999 at Canal Ring Road, Telibagh, Lucknow, U.P. AIMS OF NBFGR - Assessment and conservation of fish genetic resources for intellectual property protection, sustainable utilization and posterity.  NBFGR has also established ‘Ganga Aquarium’;one of the largest and magnificent public aquariums in the country which is serving as a great source of spreading public awareness and education about fish diversity of the country.
