forthem;
3. Providedrillingsupervisionatwaterwelldrillingsitesandadvisethecontractoronthefinalwell
completiondepths;
4. Design water well structures and ensure they are constructed to acceptable industry and
provincialrequirementsandstandards;
5. Designand supervise pump andaquifer testsand gather criticalpumpingtest data to advise on
pumpselection(capacity)andinstallationdepths;
6. Onbehalfofourclients,conductwaterqualityteststoensurethatrawwaterfromthewellsareof
acceptablequalityforhumanconsumptioni.e.,meetprovincial,federal,andWHOrecommended
waterqualitystandards;
7. Assist our clients in developing appropriate programsfor the long-term managementof their
groundwaterresources(wellheadprotection)andthewaterwells;
8. Conductstudiestoidentifywellproblemsanddeveloptailoredsolutiontorehabilitateorupgrade
them;and
9. Provideanyadditionalassistancethatmayberequiredbyourclientstoensuretheirwatersourceis
adequatelyprotectedandwellmanaged.
Aspartofourmanagementconsultancyservices, MEKstaffhaveparticipatedinandhelpedassessed
and identified shortcomings in service delivery, which have negatively impacted the effective

performance of institutions and organization engaged in the development and management of
groundwater resources in the developing countries. We have been very effective in helping these
institutionsdevelopeffectivegroundwaterexplorationprotocolsthathaveresultedinhigherwater
well drilling success rates and prolific water wells at reduced costs to their clients (Figure 1). In
addition, we have reviewed and helped numerous institutions and organizations to develop or
upgradetheir groundwatersamplingprotocolsforlaboratoryanalysistoensurethat waterquality
resultsare representativeof waterin the aquifer(groundwaterproducingrockformation)system.
Our staff have also been successful in identifying the main shortfalls impeding the successful
developmentandmanagementofgroundwaterresourcesinvillagecommunities,andhavecomeout
withuniquesolutionstailoredinaccordancewiththeirpeculiarsituations; tohelptheparticipating
institutionsensurethelongevityofwaterpointsconstructedinthesecommunities.
