2. Recent Career Achievements (in Shell):
1. Malampaya Phase 3 (MP3) SELECT: Delivered MP3 Depletion Compression Platform
concept select within ACV and in stretched duration (5 months) where the selected concept
was supported by VAR and project went through VAR 3 with GREEN status – Ready to
Proceed.
The selected substructure concept is the first self-installing platform (SIP) in Shell
worldwide. Restricted by project “givens”, it has USD 10-25M advantages to other
conventional concept.
2. MP3 DEFINE: Delivered quality FEED. As area lead and contract holders to various
contractors, constructively challenged other disciplines’ FEED, managed and negotiated
contract lump sum value based on actual work done.
The negotiation with soil-boring contractor saved approx. USD 260k. Scrutinisation of
lab test program saved AUD 350k. Challenged topside GTC support conditions
resulted in cost avoidance of approx. USD 1M.
3. MP3 EXECUTE: Delivered quality detailed engineering with priority to support fabrication
plan. Part of fabrication yard technical evaluation team that support on time contract
award. Onsite fabrication support and onboard installation support that contributed to
timely project delivery.
As technical rep on-board during platform jack-up, advised project to overruled OIC’s
decision and continue with platform installation, which saved min. 2 weeks of waiting
on weather (WoW) due to forthcoming weather downtime.
4. MP3 EXECUTE: Project Manager for substructure leg fabrication (about 2,500MT, 20% of
total platform weight) in EEW, Malaysia (budget: USD 11.3M). Scope was transferred from
fabrication yard to improve overall project schedule. Developed local vendor capability
from tubular supplier to structural fabricator.
The scope was delivered timely with cost saving of USD 1.05M. Direct negotiation with
shipping company also provided company max. flexibility to vessel laycan duration,
with zero demurrage charges.
5. E8K & F13K SELECT: Lead and matured the concept of installing higher capacity (and
heavier) compressors (17MW instead of 11MW) on both E8 and F13 compression modules
with creative engineering solution supported by extensive structural engineering
reassessments (in-house & through MDO) during front end loading (FEL).
This enable project to install 2x17MW compressors for E8 & F13, which increased
project NPV (RT@7%) by greater than 20%.
6. E8K & F13K DEFINE & EXECUTE: Lead module weight management that is driven by heavy
lift assessment. Hold discipline engineers accountable for weight input by assigning weight
budget derived from not-to-exceed weight to all disciplines lead.
E8K & F13K module factored weight stay well below the NTE weight, where there is
cost avoidance from engaging higher capacity heavy lift vessel with cost saving of
approx. MYR 60M.
