2. I was reading something online
the other day and it was
suggested that if you wanted to
be successful with your online
business then you should find
someone else who is successful
and copy what they do.
3. I want to share with you why I
believe this doesn't work.
4. Following or copying someone
else's system is one thing but
copying what they actually do is
something else.
5. There are many systems or
processes or steps that you can
take that are necessary in order
for you to be successful online.
There are plenty of people who
are successful that will offer you
help and guidance on what you
need to do.
6. However, if you copy how they
implement their proven system you are
probably going to be disappointed
when your results do not match theirs.
7. Let's just look at driving traffic for
example.
There are plenty of people who use
the various sources of traffic and find
that they work extremely well.
However, if you have purchased a
traffic product and have implemented
exactly what you have learned you
may well find that your results have not
been what you expected.
8. I have tried various traffic sources
and in the end I have found my
own favourite source of traffic that
works well for me.
Other sources just haven't worked
out and I believe that comes
down a lot of the time to one's
individual preference.
9. If you take social media as an example, you will
find people that are very successful using that
particular type of traffic for marketing their
business.
However, you have to be a specific type of
person in order for it to work for you.
If you are someone who easily gets distracted by
other people's comments and the buzz that goes
on in social media then you will find it very difficult
to stay focused on building and marketing your
own business.
10. If you have no desire to create
videos then You Tube marketing is
just not going to work for you.
11. If you enjoy being part of the
group and helping other people
out there, then maybe forum
marketing would be a good
source of traffic for you.
12. You see, there are steps that you can
take to build an online business but
how you go about implementing those
steps needs to be an individual choice
and you need to work out how is it
going to be best for you, with your
personality, and your individual
circumstances.
13. It is very important that whatever
you do online you are always
yourself and are consistent.
If you copy exactly what someone
else is doing you will find it very
difficult to remain consistent
because you are not that person.
14. Online marketing is all about
building relationships and I believe
you have to remain true to
yourself and be yourself in order to
develop trusting relationships with
potential customers and that
means finding your own way of
doing things that fits in with your
character and your values.
