4. Addressing the Audience
As I chose to do a trance/dance styled magazine
one method in which I adapted it in order to address
the audience is the language that I had used. Many
people from this audience use word abbreviations
and contractions which are culturally understood.
An example of this in my magazine is on my double
page spread, where I used words such as “Yanno”
instead of „you know‟ and “bants” instead of banter.
This makes words shorter and easier to say, it also
makes my target audience relate to the magazine
and enables them to feel as though it is aimed at
them and people they know.
5. Another method in how I address the
audience is by direct address. I use this on
my contents page „Send us your funniest
holiday snaps…‟ which automatically
involves the reader which then starts to
establish a personal relationship as the
readers feel like their needs and wants from
the magazine are being catered for, and
that they have some involvement in its
outcome.
6. Other ways to attract..
The subheadings used on the front cover offer
small snippets of information about
clubbing, festivals, opening nights etc, which
are all common related interests between the
target audience of music interested young
adults, whom enjoy clubbing and partying as a
past time. This would grab their attention as it
offers information in which they would want to
find out more about – then enticing them to
want to read the rest of the magazine to see
what else it has to offer them, that occupies
their interests.
