HIGHER COLLEGES OF TECHNOLOGY AI Ain Women's College
Letter of recommendation: Kammy Benham
23 April 2009
Kammy Benham has worked for the Higher Colleges of Technology, at AI Ain Women's
College, in AI Ain, the UAE since February 2008, as a member of English faculty. I am her
English supervisor. I have observed her teaching on a number of occasions as part of the
performance evaluation system and have found her to be a competent English language
practitioner.
In terms of her relationships with people, she has an extremely good rapport with her
students, being friendly, caring and supportive of their needs. She works well with others and
has enjoyed a very good relationship with her colleagues and her supervisor during her time
here.
In addition to her teaching duties Kammy has expertise in the field of educational technology
and has made an enormous contribution to the work of the Foundations department and to
other areas of AAWC during her time here. She has supported teachers by teaching PD
sessions on how to use content templates for making flash games and the use of Excel to
modify class attendance sheets. She has assisted a colleague with making internet maths
books, learning a new programme in order to be able to do this. She has also assisted the
English departments in the college by taking the lead on researching and successfully
obtaining New Cutting Edge Digital for use in classrooms. This task involved liaising with IT
staff, the publishing company and department supervisors.
She has a good working knowledge of SharePoint and has worked with the Diploma English
team to update their repository of materials, making a wiki and instructional videos to assist
teachers in its use. She has created spaces with restricted access within SharePoint to allow
secure shared exam creation space.
Recently Kammy was instrumental in creating a video for a high profile conference held at
AAWC. She was given a very tight deadline and needed to complete the work in a very short
time-frame which required work over the weekend, and mastering two new design
programmes. She did this willingly, and produced a very professional product. She also
designed the website for this conference, which included sourcing and designing graphics
that were used on the website and in the conference brochure.
Kammy is very approachable and makes herself available to answer educational technology
related questions from her colleagues. She is hardworking and conscientious.
If you have any questions or require any additional information, I would be more than happy
to assist you.
Sincerely
~v.A-~Marion King
