Sally Scott worked for Holcomb Hathaway Publishers from 2004 to 2016 as their Marketing Manager. She played a key role in their outreach, customer service, and marketing efforts by handling various campaigns and maintaining relationships with instructors. Sally also managed their ancillary materials programs, working with authors to create manuals, testbanks, and presentations. She consistently delivered high-quality work and took on new responsibilities. Sally was a dependable senior member of the staff who accomplished diverse tasks promptly and professionally.

1. We are pleased to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of Sally Scott. Sally worked for our
college textbook publishing company from June, 2004, to October, 2016, and would still be with us
had the company not been sold. She was an important member of our team and one on whom we,
our customers, and our authors counted to enable Holcomb Hathaway to exceed expectations.
In her position as Marketing Manager, Sally was an essential part of our outreach and customer
service efforts. She handled the writing and production of direct mail and email campaigns, social
networking, including Facebook and Twitter, and contact with our instructor customers. Through the
years, most professors knew Sally by name, and because of her efforts, our company became known
as one responsive to instructors’ needs. We frequently received tributes regarding her quick, efficient
response to customer requests.
Essential to college textbook marketing are the ancillary materials provided to professors. Sally
managed that program for us, working with authors to create the Instructor’s Manuals and
testbanks. She also created PowerPoint presentations that were interactive and visually attractive, to
be used by adopters of our textbooks as a basis for class lectures. Her contributions to these high-
quality ancillaries helped us to compete with larger companies. A further notable example of her
efforts in this area was her assuming responsibility for making our testbanks available through
Respondus to provide instructors with more flexibility than with our company-created testbanks.
Sally also performed various editorial tasks and her efforts in this area were equally commendable.
She is a skilled copyeditor and was responsible for editing some of our textbooks. She also proofread
a variety of materials and worked on indexes for many of our books. In these tasks she demonstrated
a good eye for consistency and careful attention to detail and deadlines.
We also relied on Sally as a responsible senior member of our staff when we both needed to be out
of the office. In those instances, we knew that the office would run smoothly and efficiently.
We appreciated Sally’s dependability and flexibility in regard to her many responsibilities, which
enabled her to accomplish diverse tasks promptly and professionally. Over the years, her tasks also
required her to adapt to new media and marketing channels, and she was able to do so quickly and
proficiently.
