A teacher plays a vital role in a learning process who makes the students
understand easily by using learning models. The student acquires skills while
growing in an environment through observation, to sharpen their qualitative and
quantitative skills through the learning models in 21st century.
FAMILIES OF TEACHING MODELS
Families are listed as follows,
• Information processing family.
• Personal family.
• Social family.
• Behavior system family.

The model is directional, Socratic mode of discussion which instigate, create
learning opportunities in a successful frame work to build one’s potential.
Brue joyce and Marshal weil described a model of teaching as a plan or pattern that
can sharpen a curricula, design a instructional material and also guide instructions in
a classroom and environment.

One such teaching model is juris prudential inquiry model pioneered by Donald oliver and
James P. Shaver (1966) which trains students to take a stand / position to a social problem
with relevant and valid arguments in a conflict. Juris prudential is a Latin word meaning
knowledge of laws / skills in laws. Betham is known as father of this social family of
model. It is a process of inquiry for solving controversial issues but when the same role is
played by a teacher and student in a class room for analyzing social and public issues then
it is known as juris prudence inquiry model of teaching.

OBJECTIVES
• To develop public policy and dialogue skills for classification and problem solving by
different competencies.
• Master skills of legal reasoning as a process for mutual inquiry & classification rather than a
combat.
• Bringing a change in student’s attitude so that they recognize that each and every individual
has her or his own opinion/values to analyze a particular situation.
• Involving students in analyzing by questions after taking a position.

SIX STAGES ARE INVOLVED
•Orientation to the case:- Lecture or teacher gives orientation to a case by introducing the
material and reviewing facts for the same the class is divided into two teams.
•Identifying the issue:- The teacher asks the students to synthesize facts into policy issue
for discussion and recognition of underlying factual and question.
•Taking position:- the students articulate a position in term of social value or consequence
of decision.

• Exploring the pattern of argumentation:- Asserting the priority of one values over the
other and demonstrating lack of gross violation of second value.
• Refining and qualifying the position:- Students state positions, reason & examines
similar position.
• Testing factual assumptions behind the qualified position:- The students determines
the predicted consequences and validation of facts through rational thinking.

  • 5. One such teaching model is juris prudential inquiry model pioneered by Donald oliver and James P. Shaver (1966) which trains students to take a stand / position to a social problem with relevant and valid arguments in a conflict. Juris prudential is a Latin word meaning knowledge of laws / skills in laws. Betham is known as father of this social family of model.
