1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT AND
WHY?
BY KATIE LAPWORTH
2. A distributor such as IPC would distribute The Preview.
IPC is owned by Time Inc.
IPC Media produces over 60 media brands, with print
reaching almost two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK
men.
IPC offers something for everyone, with a focus on three
audiences: men, mass market women and upmarket
women.
IPC already produce magazines of a similar genre to that
of The Preview, for example, NME, so would also be able
to distribute The Preview without veering too far from it’s
current products.
3. ADVERTI
SING
Many companies could advertise in The Preview.
This is because The Preview has sections other than music,
such as fashion.
Therefore, brands such as and
can advertise.
These brands would be able to advertise as they are appropriate
for the age range and gender of the target market as they are
ideal for 16-24 year olds, and they both have male and female
sections in their stores.
Also, music artists could also advertise in The Preview as it is a
music magazine. They could advertise not only their
albums/singles, but also their tours.
Also, films could also be advertised in The Preview, because the
readers in the target audience are young adults, so are very film
orientated.
4. COMPANIES THAT COULD
ADVERTISE IN THE PREVIEW
These brands could all advertise in The Preview
as they apply to both men and women,
both ends of the target age range
and all price ranges.
5. ONLINE
PRESENCE
It is important for a magazine of the genre and target
market of The Preview to have a strong online presence.
This is because, particularly for those in the lower age
band of my target market (16-24), a lot of time is sent on
the internet. Therefore, a large online presence is
important.
Another reason why a large online presence is important
is because it makes the magazine more accessible to the
target market, including those who may not necessarily be
able to go out and purchase a hard copy of the magazine.
An online presence allows the reader to look further into
the articles that are featured in the magazine, for example,
exclusive videos of the interviews and performances.
6. POTENTIAL
APP?
Creating an app is a good tool to have as it enables a
wider population of the target market to access the
magazine.
It allows more people to read it in a way that they prefer,
e.g, on a tablet/mobile phone. E.g, iPad/iPhone, Samsung
Galaxy Tablet or Blackberry.
Creating an app for both the android market and via the
Apple App Store would make the magazine even more
accessible.
I feel than an app for The Preview would be appropriate as
other magazines and newspapers also have apps available
on the
Apple App Store and the android market and have been
very
