Making fp
1. This is the picture I wanted to use for my
front cover, except there was a door so I
had to use the clone tool on Photoshop
to get rid f it and I thought that I was
fairly successful, but there is a weird
patchy part, which I couldn’t get rid of so
I’ll put a flash here.
I had to place the picture
into InDesign by file ->
place -> Click on the image
-> drag and drop it where I
wanted it to go. I then
locked it in place so it
wouldn’t move. I then had
to select my model in
Photoshop and save it so I
could place her on top of
this.
2. This is what it looks like when I placed it over the
background. I then locked it in place so it
wouldn’t move when I added text.
I added the masthead and I placed it
over her head instead of under as you
couldn’t read it otherwise and I like how
you can see her hair underneath. I also
added a blue flash to cover up the patch
and I like it so far. To add it I had to click
on the square tool,c lick where I wanted
it and the I dragged the mouse to adjust
the size.
3. I wasn’t sure how I felt about using blue and
blue, so I changed the colour of the masthead
and spaced the letters out, but I don’t really like
it as it doesn’t stand out from the page and I
don’t think that it would stand out against the
rest of the magazines on the shelf.
I changed the masthead’s colour back to blue
as I felt that it worked better and changed the
box’s colour to red as that is in my colour
scheme and I think that this works better as
both of these colours have made the page
really bright and eye-catching.
4. I made the spaces between the letters smaller by
using the space tool as I didn’t think that it looked as
professional before. I also added a shadow to the box
with the drop shadow tool to make it stand out more
and I like the effect. I also added in my cover line, pull
quote and teaser and I put it across Kathryn as this is
what NME and Blender did and I really liked it. I tilted
the text slightly as I liked how NME did this. I also
made the pull quote overlap on the coverline and I
liked the layered effect. I then out the teaser
underneath, but I styled it so the text didn’t go onto
arm as you couldn’t read it. I also added a website,
issue date and price to the top of the bar code as all
magazines have this and it follows conventions. I used
the other font that I wanted from my planning as
bebas is too big and I like how the font looks.
I then added text onto the falsh in
alternating text and I like how the colours
stand out. And I like how I’ve arranged the
text, however there is some blank space so
I might put pictures here.
