2. Process
I started off by downloading a image
of Emile Smith Rowe however there
was a background I didnāt want in
the final design so I used the sticky
lasso tool to do a rough outline of
him and used the hand drawn lasso
tool to go around the edges and chip
out all the parts the sticky lasso
missed.
3. Process
I used the same method for Kane,
downloading an image of him
celebrating a goal, using the sticky
lasso and then the hand drawn lasso
tools to remove the background and
then moved him to the centre beside
ESR.
4. Process
I tried looking for some red and white
powder clashing together but none of
them were PNGs and most had
watermarks or were either blurry. I
stumbled across a clipart of the Poland
flag but it wasnāt very good. A quick
google search of Poland clipart gave me
the perfect red and white clash I was
looking for.
5. Process
I added a title and the magazine name
next and thought a bold and simple
font was the best thing for it. The
players head going over the text gives
the magazine depth. Iād prefer if the
āSportsZoneā text didnāt have weird
flicks on the end of every letter
however.
6. Process
I added stamped āpostponedā above
NLD because I feel it gets the point of
the articles across without filling up
the page with lots of words and
becoming an ugly sight. I then added
another subtitle in-between ESRs arms
to add to the cover. I donāt like the font
and I feel that the words could be
placed a bit better as to not overlap
over the players shirt however I cannot
edit the text layer
7. Process
I added another subtext about Novak
Djokovicās vaccine debacle but once
again I donāt like the font and I donāt
like the fact that Smith Roweās hand is
covered by words and whatnot. I also
added an image on Neil Robertson in
the bottom.
8. Process
I added some subtext about
Robertsons win in an orange box to
keep it separate from the footballing
news. I also added a barcode
because it makes it look like a real
product. An extra dark orange rim to
the bright orange box so it doesnāt
feel like a sudden swap from red and
white to orange.
9. Process
I began with creating a black page and
a white page as to not creating
blandness by having the background be
just one singular colour. I used the ruler
tool to split the page right down the
middle so I knew where my crease line
was so I didnāt have words across
separate pages.
10. Process
I placed the downloaded images of
Robertson and the footballers and
using the paintbrush tool I went around
them so they merged into the page
instead of having straight, flat edges.
11. Process
I used the same process again to add
the tennis player and referee and also
made them appear to be blended in
instead of an image added to a page. I
also removed Novak's tennis racquet.
12. Process
I then wrote the NLD article and included the
āNLD POSTPONEDā feature I added on the front
cover. I would have preferred to have the text
less sprawled about however.
13. Process
The Novak articles was
next and using the text tool
I made another articles and
included another subtext.
Once again I wish I didnāt
make the photos so large
so the text wasn't as
sprawled about
14. Process
The Robertson articles
was next and using the text
tool I made other articles
and included another
subtext. Once again, I wish I
didnāt make the photos
so large, so the text wasn't
as sprawled about
15. Process
The Referee articles was next
and using the text tool I
made other articles and include
d another subtext. Once again, I
wish I didnāt make the
photos so large, so the text
wasn't as sprawled about
16. Process
Using stock photos I gathered from online I
decided to add different props to each
article. The clock needed the use the magic
wand tool to remove the white background,
as did the vaccine and the cloud however
the lightning blot was a PNG so I didn't need
it for that. The clock is for the early blow-up,
the thundercloud is from 'The Thunder from
Downunder' and the vaccine is for the
whole article.
