7. • The most important scene in my film is when the bomb explodes inside the café, just as
Matt is about to retreat to get his briefcase.
• This will be the final scene in my short film and will last approximately 5-10 seconds.
• The reason I believe this is my most important scene is because it was built up from the
beginning all the the way to the end of my film.
8. Mise-en-scene is items and props that are used and are visible to the audience throughout the
film.
Mise-en-scene is important because it helps the audience suggest what they believe is
happening or what could happen next. This could be through colors or even the lighting of a
scene
For example, if the wall was red, one may suggest that it could be indicating a love story, while
if the lighting of scene was dark it might suggest the story involves violence
I will be using Mise-en-scene in my production to also suggest indications on what could
possibly happen next.
The first example of Mise-en-scene will be the lighting and brightness of some scenes. When
the screen turns to the mystery mans face and looks back at the briefcase, I will make the
lighting darker to suggest something bad is being planned.
I will also make the main characters outfit fully black to suggest something dark and terrifying
will take place as he enters the café.
Finally, I will use items such as newspapers and sunglasses to imply the mystery man is trying
to disguise himself from Matt, the main character.
9. • Here we can see a brief
outline of my story, using
https://www.storyboardthat
.com/storyboards/judecfcx/
short-film-storyboard
• The storyboard tells us
that a secret agent will be
following Matt as he
makes his way to a café
before quickly leaving to
catch his bus to work
• Although this storyboard
identifies the main scenes
in my film, it doesn't’
overview everything that
will happen in my story,
the reason behind this
being that the website
limits you a selected
amount of storyboard
cells.
10. Here is a more informative version of my sketch, hand drawn.
11. Shot description Actors

his way to the café with a
briefcase
• Matt then enters the café and a
silence breaks out
• Matt then approaches a table and
asks the man to move
• After continuously causing
trouble, Matt goes to the toilet

12. The actors will go by the names of :
Jude-Matt
Randall-James
Tommy-Luke
Aaron- cameraman
There will be approximately 7-8 shots throughout the film.
The location will be in York college café and the bus stop outside
college.
We will be using several different camera shots, which will include
long shots, short shots, camera panning and 180 degree shots to
make my film look as professional as possible.
14. Names Roles
Jude-Matt
Randall-James
Tommy-Luke
Customer
Randall
• The main character-the rude man
with the briefcase.
• The man in disguise at the café-
plants the bomb
• The colleague at the café, tries to
stop James from losing his temper
• Matt tells the customer to move
from his seat so he can sit down
• Aaron will be the cameraman
throughout the film
15. The three actors in my short film will be me, Tommy, and Randall.
I chose these 3 because it will have the best chemistry when filming
as a group compared to anyone else.
I will be the main character in the film as its my production, Randall
and tommy will be other important cast members as they play a big
part in the explosion, and then we will have extras to sit down in the
café while it is being filmed.
Aaron will be the camera man throughout the film as he has previously
stated he does not enjoy acting but has an ambition for camera work,
so it will benefit him greatly.
If any of us were unable to attend college, we’d need a back up plan
for who would cover certain roles. For instance, if Tommy or Randall
couldn’t attend I would have to put Aaron in place as he’d be the next
cast member to know the role of Tommy and Aaron and would then
have to ask someone else to cover Aaron’s position as camera man.
16. We will be filming in several locations when producing my short film
The main locations will include the college premises, and a bus stop
opposite the college.
The reason I chose these locations was because we will have
permission to film in college, and the bus top is a public location.
But we will have to ensure that when we are filming at the bus stop,
that it is out of college time as the location is outside the college
premises.
When filming in college, we will be filming at the cafeteria. We chose
the college because it has several different cafeterias, so if one was
unable to access we could resolve to another café.
It also means that if one was busy, we could film at another that
wasn’t as busy.
17. When filming we will need certain costumes for every scene and
props for several scenes.
I will be wearing a fully black outfit, while Tommy and Randall are
okay to wear everyday outfits, as they will be presented as every
day people in my film.
Props will include newspapers, sunglasses and items of food.
I trust fully that this will go ahead as planned as the responsibility
for props and designated costumes all comes down under me
and nobody else.
But if something was to be forgotten, I would buy this item from
Tesco’s at lunch or break.
18. • These are the two locations we will be filming my short film.
• The first picture shows the bus stop located just outside the college, while the
second photo shows the college itself.
19.
20. When filming my short film I have to ensure I’m prepared with a contingency plan
in case I have some issues.
The first possible issue I could face is the camera. When filming outside there
there is a possibility that the camera could face some issues with filming because
of the extreme weather forecasts, which include heavy snow. To prevent the
camera from getting wet and making the lens blurry, we will film the scene under
the bus shelter to prevent it from this. We will also keep it in the case from our
journey from college to the bus stop.
Another issue we could face is when filming is the interference of people attending
college in the background. If this was to happen in our first choice of location, we
would have to film in a different café located in college. Possibly the café located
on the 4th floor of college.
The final issue we could face when filming is missing cast members. So if either
me Tommy, Aaron or Randall was to be ill, we would have to film each scene that
did not include the missing member, and then go back to it once they have
returned back to college. If Randall was to be ill as he is camera man we would
have to ask another member of class to film for us.
21. On the first day of production, I will be outlining to My cast
members the film and what role each of them will be playing.
Once the roles have been confirmed, I will then show my cast the
locations we will be filming my film my short production.
On the second day of production, we will be producing the first
half of my short film.
On the third day we will be producing the second half of my film.
Finally, on the 4th day we will be editing my film on premiere and
making finalizations the film. After this we will hopefully be
finished on Friday afternoon.
25. When finalizing my film, I will need to add sound effects to each
scene that almost implies what they would be saying but in sound
effects.
Not only this, but I will also need sound effects for scenes such as
my final shot as it includes an explosion. I will also need to add
the sound of plates and moving chairs in the café.
I will gather these sounds together from royalty free sounds to
ensure that I don’t get accused of copyright.
Once I have gathered them together I will then add them onto
premiere and put them in order with the videos filmed.
There will be one scene in the film that includes vocal sound. This
is in the final scene when I say ‘that wasn’t supposed to happen!’
26. Non-diegetic sounds are noises that the audience can hear but
sounds that the actors wouldn’t hear themselves at the time.
I will include non diegetic sounds in my short film. This will
include the sound of an explosion in my final scene.
I will also add royalty free music to my film to increase the
intensity and build up to the explosion.
These are all sounds that wont be heard during the production of
my film, and will only be introduced when I start to edit my video
on premiere.
