4. 1.1 Prologue
I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Ar. Sateerah Hassan for
introducing and guiding me throughout my internship period. This
module was indeed exciting as we get to learn about architecture in a
very different aspect from in classes and it would have been very difficult
to cope without my lecturer's guidance. Hence, I am very thankful to have
an anchor to ensure my stable progress throughout this period.

5. 1.2 Forward
Cipta Teguh Architects Sdn Bhd was formed by experienced architect
practices, namely Ar. Lew Chieh Seong, Ar. Yee Yew Chuin, Ar. James Tong
Weng Thye, and associate Ar. Lau Jit May, Ar. Pong Vui Thien, adviser;
Datin Ar Prof. Madya Norwina Bt. Mohd. Nawawi and Dr. Ar Abdul Malek
Abdul Rahman in order to provide a more conducive architectural
service.
The practice quickly developed client base in the region of Malaysia.
Through a commitment to provide professional service and complete
design solution, the young firm has been commissioned to a few large
scale project and have gained success since.
I was assigned to work under Mr. Calvin's team, project architect, on the
first week and he have been nothing but the most helpful and
encouraging supervisor. Alongside in our team would be Ms. Tiong Ju Ee,
assistant architect, she was very committed to her career and have also
guided me through various aspects during my internship training.

15. 3.1 TL Lot 1237 & 1238
Stage : Schematic design
TL Lot 1237&1238 is a apartment building. This is the first project I was
given the chance to be involved in. I was assigned to build up the exterior
3D model of this building using Sketch Up. I was not very familiar with the
know Hows of utilising this program but my team was helpful enough to
guide me and provide answers to my questions. It took me almost 3 days
to complete the entire model but as I go along, it was became visible that
my sketch up skills have improved a lot. Later on, i was assigned to build
up the facade of the building with the assigned designs from my
supervisor and then render it using Lumion to later be sent to the client
for an overview of the schematic design of the building.

16. 3.2 PV Prima 225
Stage : Schematic design
PV prima 225 is already a completed project but the client have further
given us the opportunity to have the interior design works done for the
facilities area. I was assigned to design the gym, yoga room, av room and
cafe. My supervisor have requested me to research online to look for
inspirations and create a mood chart. The mood chart is then made into
a presentation to brief my supervisor about the concept I was trying to go
for.

17. 3.2 PV Prima 225
Stage : Schematic design
After getting approval from my supervisor, I've started to create the 3d
model of the interior space using sketchup. I started off with the yoga
room. The yoga room was meant to be a space where the users would feel
relaxed and comfortable. I've utilised the nature of timber finishes and a
dimmer colours for the walls to enhance this atmosphere. To comply with
the user requirements, I've also designed a built in resting bench and
table that compromises the yoga room design.

Next would be the gym. The gym area is elongated, making only possible
for linear circulation. Which also means the gym is very packed and small,
especially when equipments are involved. Therefore, my supervisor have
advised me to utilise an extensive amount of mirrors to visually broaden
the area. The materials used in the gym was also carefully selected to give
a resemblance or connection to the neighbouring yoga room.

The third space was the AV room. I wanted a dark but comfortable
ambience for this space and have decided to use minimal lightings. I have
introduced a bock up wall on both sides of the wall and inserted linear
lighting on the upper and bottom ends to create a glowing effect.
Furthermore, I have also proposed to utilise optic fibre lightings on the
ceiling for a starry sky effect. The sofa seating was proposed to be built in
and leveled to make it seem more like a theatre room.

The fourth space would be Cafe. The concept for the cafe was to
introduce more vegetation to compromise with the lack of greens in the
entire building. I've made the counter in an angular form to make itself
visible upon entering the space. The seating areas were categorised into
different sections to satisfy the different moods of the customers.

21. 3.3 Ara Grove
Stage : Schematic design
LHK Ara Grove is a soon to be a mixed development with medical centre
as its core purpose. My first task involving this project was to build up the
3d model of the building using sketch up. It took me a much shorter time
of 1 day to complete the model compared to the previous project.

Stage : Design development
This project is currently under the progress of preparing required
drawings for approval from the authorities. Since this project is located in
Ara Damansara, we have made a few trips to MBPJ to consult on the
drawing requirements. I was given the chance to meet the authorities and
consult about the drawings requirements on different departments
including, transportation, universal design and CPTED. We were given
checklists on the first visit. On the second week, we have already
prepared drafted drawings and the authorities have given further
detailed or missed out requirements on the drawings to be amended for
submission.

23. 3.4 Tropicana Kajang
Stage : Schematic design
Tropicana Kajang is a condominium project with an extended facilities
block. I was assigned to design the facade of the L shaped condominium
block. The facade was requested by my supervisor to be entirely white
and my job was to introduce shadow casting elements to act as the
'colours'.

Next, I was assigned to design the facade of the facilities block. I have
proposed to extend a build up that creates a sun shading effect around
the pool area which initially was entirely exposed to sunlight.

The facade of the building had also a hint to match with the facade
of the condominium blocks.

Later on for this project, I was briefed about the OSC requirements for BP
submission. I was then assigned to draft out the surat permohonan plan
bangunan for OSC, JKB, KEJ, PPP and BOMBA. After that, I was so
assigned to calculate on the Jadual Kiraan Fee for the building.

27. 3.5 Confidential projects
The projects in this section will not be named due to private and
confidential matters.
I was given tasks that involved in a few private projects. One of the tasks
would be checking the certificate of completion and compliance of one of
the projects. This involved collecting required documents from related
consultants and prepare sets of the document to be signed off.

Furthermore, I was assigned to design the interior possible layouts of an
intermediate unit and a semi-d unit for a project. A few options were
produced.

For the same project, I was also assigned to design a logo for the related
company with the request of the colour scheme red and grey.

30. 4.0 Reflection
This internship period allowed me to be exposed to the more legal and
practical sides of architecture. This experience have deeply broaden my
view and expectations in this field of career. This journey was extremely
encouraging and have acted as a boost in my decision to further my
studies in this field. I have learnt about details required in drawings that I
have never thought of its significance. My team have also provided me a
working environment and atmosphere better than my expectations. I have
learned from my fellow colleagues on how to work together to allow a
smooth progression in a specific project and how important it was to
have good relationship between other colleagues .The system of the
company in running a project have also taught me about how a
systematic plan gives a huge plus point in a certain project as it satisfies
the client's expectations and also creates a smooth progress. All in all, I
have acquired so much more than I've expected before starting off this
module and being grateful is an understatement for the amount of
exposure and times I was forced to leave my comfort zone to acquire the
knowledge I have gained.
30
31. 5.0 Conclusion
In conclusion, my experience in Cipta Teguh Architects SDN. BHD. have
mostly revolved around the schematic design stage. However at the same
time, I was given the environment that exposes me to various terms and
common knowledge within this field of career.
