2. What is your Gender?
Most of the results we got back were from
females. We had 33.3% males respond and
66.7% of females. Having overall positive
responses shows how much the topic has
been welcomed into today’s generation. This
tells us our target audience will be both
genders.
However, we had some aggressive and
inappropriate responses that we have blurred
out. These responses came from both male
and female audience members.
3. How old are you?
The age with the highest percentage
was 16-20 with 64.3%. I think this
occurred due to younger people being
more open and interested in what Drag
Queens actually do in everyday life.
The lowest percentages were under
16’s with 4.67%, 31-40 with 5.95% and
40+ with 10.71%. This tells us that our
main target audience ages will be from
16- 30 (with 16-20 having 64.3% and
21-30 having 14.3%).
4. What is your Favourite Colour?
The highest percentage for colour was
blue with 20.5% followed by purple with
19.3%. This tells us that these colours
should be used mainly throughout our
project as they are the colours that
appeal most to our target audience. The
least favourite was the colour yellow
which means we won't be using this
colour in our documentary.
5. What Music do you Listen to?
From our results we came
to the conclusion that the
most popular genre was
Pop music and the least
popular was 70s music.
We will be using
mainstream pop music
within our documentary as
this is what appeals to our
target audience.
6. What channels do you watch on TV?
When we made our initial plans we
chose Channel 4 to be the channel
our documentary would be shown
on.
From our results we have come to
the conclusion that Channel 4 is the
most popular channel as 22.95%
and 56 of the responses chose this
channel. The least popular channel
was ITV4 as this only got 2
responses out of 84. We will be
using our initial plans to air our
documentary on Channel 4.
7. Which title interests you the most?
The results show that ‘Life’s a Drag’ was the most popular title with 55.95% voting
for it. Therefore this will be our working title for our documentary. The second
favourite was ‘Dare to Drag’ with 22.62%, so you can see from the distance between
these percentages that ‘Life’s a Drag’ is clearly more appealing to our audience than
the other options.
8. Have you ever been to a Drag Show?
73.61% of people have never been to a drag show but 29
responses said they would like to go if they had a
chance. There were 18 responses that said that they would
definitely not like to watch a drag show. This documentary
will show people what it is like to experience a drag show
and possibly change their attitude towards Drag Queens.
9. What interests you about Drag Queens?
33.33% of the responses said that drag queens makeup is what interests them the most.
The least favourite was their choice of music which was 8.33%. In our documentary we
will be showing many clips of makeup artists and drag queens applying it themselves.
10. What one word would you use to describe a
Drag Queen?
We asked the following
question to get an insight
into people's opinions of
Drag Queens.
Although we did get some
abusive comments the
majority of them were
positive.
11. Have you watched the following?
We asked this question
as the majority of our
audience had seen the
following programmes
but had no negative
views that they were
drag queens. This looks
at drag queens in a
different light as they are
seen as actors and
comedians.
12. What do you think about men wearing
makeup?
We asked this question to see how
people would honestly respond to
men wearing makeup as it has
become more accepted. We found
that there were mostly positive
responses, proving that it’s not a
frowned upon topic as much as it was
in the past. However, we did get
some negative responses - some
worse than others, but they are the
people who we are trying to show that
Drag is nothing to be negative about.
13. What look do you prefer?
We asked our audience what kind of drag look do they prefer between natural
and staged drag. 54.76% of our target audience said that they prefer natural
makeup over staged. This means that throughout our documentary we will show
more natural drag artists rather than the over the top staged queens.
