2. Male 41.18%
Female 58.82%
On this graph it shows us that horror/slasher films are not only watched by the
male population and that more women watch these types of films. As these
results are not exactly what I was expecting some aspects of our trailer may
need to be adjusted to fit in with the majority of people who watch these films,
but also the trailer will need to include the needs of the male population
because the split is 40%-60% meaning that males will watch this film as well.
Looking at the results I can see that audiences for a slasher film are equally
spread between both genders, meaning that the results I have collected are all
going to be useful.

The majority of respondents came from our targeted audience, which
means that our data will be very useful when it comes to deciding on our
trailer as the data will be quick and easy to grasp. We also have
respondents from all the other age categories meaning that this genre is
widely spread throughout different generations. From these results I can
see that there isn’t just one age range that watches slasher films,
meaning that the results that I have received may be quite varied and
very useful for me to use for our trailer.
4. Yes 60.40%
No 39.60%
This question shows us that not everybody watches
horror films and that some of the answers that we have
received may be irrelevant for our trailer. On the other
hand, it is a 60%-40% in favour of watching horror
films, which means that the horror genre has not died
out of these last few decades.
5. Saw 14.14%
Knife 36.36%
Hands 19.19%
Rope 5.05%
Other 25.25%
From my responses I can see that my audience find a knife the scariest weapon. This gives
us the idea of using a knife in our film, because it can be the identifying feature to our
horror/slasher film. Also from the results the knife can be seen as the weapon which is most
commonly used and seen in horror films.

The age group that we are targeting is usually the age of people that go to the cinema as it is a social activity and
because the responses were most popular for going Quarterly we can have an idea that these are students mainly as
they do not have the same financial stability as people older and they are also in school or college and can not go to
the cinema so often. Also as our audience don’t go to the cinema so often it makes sense for us to make a slasher film
because they do not have the biggest budget and do not lose large amounts of money if it doesn’t do so well in the
cinema. This can also relate to the fact that our audience prefer to stick to the defined ‘cinema’ seasons, such as
summer and just before Christmas. Our film is an independent film, so the defined cinema seasons would not be the
best time to put our film on because people may just look past it at the more action films with bigger stars. Also as our
film is a slasher film, the beginning of November would be the best time to put it on, but it may also damage our film,
because a lot of horror/slasher films are released at that time as well, meaning we may not get the same amount of
income as we would hope. From these results I would suggest that we put our film on at the end of August, as the
horror fans will most likely come and see it and most blockbuster films have already been seen and been taken off the
cinema as well.

This slide reinforces the last slide, with how often people go to the cinema. The most popular
result is watching these sorts of films on TV as it is cheaper to watch them at home or with a
group of friends instead of going out to watch a film and pay an extensive amount. Also
downloads are quite a high percentage of responses reinforcing the age group that we are
targeting because more of our target market download films illegally and sometime legally.
These results tell me that the people that answered our survey have a variety of where they
watch slasher films and that there is more than one revenue stream where we can advertise
our film to get more people to watch it. Releasing our film may have different ways of creating
revenue.

The most popular location here is in a neighbourhood. This could be
because the audience are able to relate to the area because it’s a place
that they see on a daily basis and walk through, whereas an alleyway is
most likely not used on a daily basis. Therefore in our trailer we will use a
neighbourhood, to appeal to our audiences likes and needs.

The responses that we received were very close to each other, which shows that all
the all these scenes are vital for our film trailer to include sections of all of them to
make our audience happy. The opening normal life scene may not be a useful
response for us, because of previous answers about whether or not people like
horror films meaning that they don’t like gore and will most likely have chosen this
option as their preferred scene in a horror film. From all the responses, it indicates
that our audience like to see a formulaic film, that includes a bit of everything, from
the Equilibrium to the most horror and gory parts.

Smoke 6.69%
This was a very general question for our audience, as we want to find the most relatable and
common props and locations that are seen in films and trailers for our trailer. Blood was the most
prominent answer because it is one of the main things that sells a horror film, meaning that in our
trailer, we will need to have blood shown somewhere, so that our film can be relatable to the
horror/slasher film genre. These responses show us the formulaic factors of a trailer that the
audience like. For our trailer, this gives us a clear indication of what we need to include e.g. blood
and the killer. Also it shows us what our audience would prefer not to see in a horror film, such as
many trees or smoke.

The favourite character from our results is the killer. This means that in our trailer we
need to show our killer slightly as our audience prefer that character. The answers were
more varied than I would have expected. This means that in our trailer we need to add a
wider variety of characters to please our audience and their needs.
