Introduction to Apprenticeships
Being an apprentice means that you have a job that includes gaining recognised
qualifications and essential skills whilst you are working and earning a wage.
There are three types of apprenticeships:
• Intermediate Apprenticeships
• Advanced Apprenticeships
• Higher Apprenticeships
The current minimum salary for an apprentice is £3.40 per hour and they are
expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Legal Administration Apprenticeships
Intermediate (Level 2) and Advanced (Level 3) Legal Administration –
(City & Guilds qualification)
– These will take approximately between 12 and 18 months
– The Intermediate Apprenticeship is suitable for people with either very little or no
experience of working in a legal environment.
– The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for people who are either progressing
further in their role and/or those who have more responsibility.
– These apprenticeship are delivered primarily via regular 1:1 tutorials in the
workplace with a qualified legal trainer, supported by web-based and more
traditional materials.
– Apprentices stay in touch with their trainer between visits by email, telephone and
webinars.

Paralegal Apprenticeships
Advanced (Level 3) Paralegal Apprenticeships
– These will take approximately 24 months
– This Apprenticeship is suitable for people who are either recruited in to a Junior Fee Earning role or
currently employed as a Fee Earner / Legal Assistant / Paralegal
– This Apprenticeship can also be used to be used as a foundation for progression to the Solicitor
Apprenticeship
– These apprenticeship are delivered primarily via regular 1:1 tutorials in the workplace, small group study
with a qualified legal trainer, supported by online resources, web-based and more traditional materials.
– Apprentices stay in touch with their trainer between visits by email, telephone and webinars.

– Conveyancing Technician (Level 4)
– Licensed Conveyancer (Level 6)
– Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship (Level 6)
– Solicitor Apprenticeship (Level 7)
