Reuse means using items again, either by yourself or others. Recycle means processing waste materials to make new products. Repair means fixing broken items to reuse them. garbage and wastes. Aside from their foul smell,

The 5R’s of waste management is the modern
way of organizing garbage and waste materials.
The focus of 5R’s waste materials is to:
1.Promote a clean and healthful environment.
2.Transform garbage into something useful
( Example : used cooking oil to fuel through
recycling ) , thus
3.Making the earth free from any garbage or
waste material “ zero waste “
5. What are the 5R’s means?
1. Reduce - simply means lessen the use of
unnecessary materials. It means buying only what is
needed. It means buying items in refillable containers
and in bulk to save on packaging. It means avoiding
disposable or single use products. It also means using
cloth bag instead of plastic bags and renting items
that are used once or twice only. To reduce is the
most important part of waste management because it
lessens the unnecessary use of materials , energy ,
and water before they are produced.
7. 2. Reuse - means to use again, if not by you, then by
others. Clothes, cooking wares , bags, shoes and other
clothes are some reusable materials. Donate reusable items
in your house that you do not need others can use them
again. Buy household items that are made of repaired and
reused. Papers, cardboards. Glass jars, plastic boxes and
bags are reusable items. Print or write on both sides of
paper or use them as scratch papers. reuse boxes as
organizer of toys and other materials. Use reusable
container for storing food and other items instead of foil,
plastic wrap, and Styrofoam. Choose food items packed in a
nice containers like box , bottles , or jars instead of
disposable plastic wrappers. You can use the empty
containers as flower vase and storage of other things.
9. 3. Recycle - means processing the waste
materials to make another product. Making
decorative objects out of newspaper or
colored pages of magazines or making
baskets or bags out of used tarpaulin are
examples of recycling. Papers, plastics , tin
cans , cardboards, glasses, aluminum, and
other metal scraps are some of the things
that can be recycled.
11. 4. Repair - is fixing or restoring
broken items to be used again. It
means mending torn clothes and
gluing some materials that need to be
put together. Electrical appliances
computers and other electronic
devices can be repaired. Worn out
shoes and bags of good quality can be
repaired and used again.
