4. Concept of 4R’s
We apply 4R for waste
management reduce,
reuse, recycle, recover
to all our services. We
actively angage waste
generators in managing
there waste responcibily.
R for reduce R for reuse R for recycle R fro recover
5. 4R’s principle
Some importance of 4R principle are:
A. To utilize the waste material.
B. To maintain environmental health.
C. To minimize land and population.
D. To reduce consumption of needless items.
E. To promote the use of degradable products.
F. To utilize product to there maximamum life.
6.
7. Reduce
Reduce includes all the activities which reduce the generating of solid waste
into the environment.
We can reduce the solid waste in our community by considerering the following
steps:
1. We should choose durable items while buying.
2. We should change our habit of using things i.e. use washable clothes, napkins
instead of napkin papers.
3. Use washable container for lunches.
4. Sack instead of using reusable plastic bags.
5. We should buy recycled products.
6. It is better to use cotton bags for shopping.
7. Print on both side of the paper so that we can reduce waste production.
8. Warning signs should be printed on the products showing the disposal methord.
8.
9. Reuse
The usage of any product itself without changing its form and
composition is called reuse.
Reuse increases the life of waste and reduces the production of waste
so that it preserves environment and its resources.
Reusing products not only contributes to the protection of nature but
also saves our money.
We can reuse solid waste by considering the following points:
1. Use reusable plastic bags or cotton bags for shopping.
2. We should donate our old clothes and other items to charitable
organization.
3. Use plastic gallons to store water and oil.
4. Use old second hand books, DVD’s & CD’s, etc.
5. Buy a rechargeable battery.
6. Reuse electronic device after repairing.
10.
11. Recycle
Recycle means re-covering a previously used objects and giving it a
second life.
The use of waste by processing & modifying it into another form is
called recycling.
It is done when it is not posiible to reuse and reduce.
Paper & cardboard, glass, metal, debris from construction &
demolition, etc.can also be recycled and used again.
EXAMPLE :-
1. Paper Is recycled to cardboard, toilet paper, tissue paper, etc.
2. The newspaper is recycled into egg cartoons, shoe boxes, etc.
12.
13. Recover
Most of the materials are thrown in the garbage can be
used & processed in ways other than its destroyed. Such is
recovering.
EXAMPLE :-
1. Methane gas can be recovered from decomposing organic
matter.
2. If there is still plastic waste left over after being reduced,
reuse and recycled. It can be used to make energy. It is
process to convert waste products into resources ( such as
fuel,heat,etc. ) through biological means.
14.
15. Conclusion
Reduce, reuse, recycle and renewed. This is the way we
will lessen our impact on the environment. Thankfully
there are incentives to encourage many of us to recycle
such as receiving money when we turn in cans, bottles,
scrap metal and electronics. However, recycling does
more than line our pockets with a bit of extra change. It
also allows us to reduce our impact on the environment.
With alternative energy sources such as adult diapers
becoming more and more popular the future of recycling
not only looks bright, but it has become more vital than
ever.
