Highlights of ProfessionalExperience
Full Time Student and Volunteer, Swanzey, NH, May 2016 to Present
Under the guidance of respected mentors and colleagues, I have declined an offer to remain at
Vermont Yankee as it transitions to its SAFSTOR II phase, and have taken on the task of
completing my Bachelor of Science degree by pursuing an arduous course regiment to average
48 credit hours per year; with expected graduation date at the end of calendar year 2016. This
action, coupled with my responsible nuclear power plant experience will ensure I meet the
requirements set forth in INPO ACAD 10-001 for obtaining my SRO license and SRO Instructor
Certificate. As the primary child-care provider for two children at home, facilitate learning
activities such as academic skills, nutrition, arts, and recreational sports. Organize schedules and
events, maintain two residential properties and mange the household. Currently volunteer at my
church, and local little league and youth football for over 20 hours per week.
Entergy Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant, Vernon, VT, July 2009 to May 2016
Entergy Vermont Yankee (VY) Nuclear Power Station was a 1,912 Mega-watt thermal (Mwt),
boiling water reactor (BWR) that began operation in 1972. After 42 years of safe and reliable
operation the reactor was permanently shut down on December 29, 2014, and the fuel was
removed from the reactor on January 12, 2015. The status of the plant right now is SAFSTOR
until fully decommissioned sometime in the future.
SAFSTOR Phase I Team Leader and Non-Certified Operator (NCO):
VY NPP: 2014-2016
The primary systems operator assigned to a shift, continually tasked with ensuring all
evolutions performed flawlessly in spaces outside the main control room (MCR). Key
selected operator designated to safely operate and maintain the plant during the first phase of
plant decommissioning, SAFSTOR I. My strong, detailed plant knowledge contributed to
the successful abandonment and repurposing of major systems and components to achieve
station goals.
 Led a team effort for the responsible removal and storage of twelve 4000 V ACBs
 Watchbill coordinator for crew
 Operations department Safety Advocate and Safety Representative
Senior Auxiliary Operator (AO): VY NPP: 2009-2014
As the senior nuclear plant systems operator on shift, I led teams of qualified operators of
differing experience levels to safely and reliably operate, test, and survey the station's
equipment and operating systems for all equipment outside of the MCR. Maintained
qualifications exceeding Entergy Corporation Fleet standards, that included continuing
training and performing the Systematic Approach to Training, including On-the-Job Training
(OJT) and Task Performance Evaluations (TPE). As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on key
systems, was integral to training and qualifying new operators. My motivation and
commitment to teamwork led to my selection of many special project teams; including the
Independent Spent Fuel Pool Storage Installation (ISFISI) project team, the Condensate
Phase Separator (CPS) Resin Transfer Tiger team, and part of the Fix-it-Now (FIN) team.
Due to my dedication and display of plant knowledge, I was selected to the first license class
available and promoted to reactor operator (RO) just prior to the corporate decision to
decommission VY.
FIN: "Fix-it-Now" Team: VY NPP 2012-2014
Part of an exclusively selected multi-disciplinary team, including top representatives from
functional groups such as Operations, Electrical, Instrument and Control, and Mechanical
divisions best maintenance and planning team members. FIN was established to
troubleshoot complex integrated operational issues and perform repairs on an expedited
basis, minimize the work on the station schedule, and reduce the backlog of maintenance
items. Due to my ability to multitask and prioritize a heavy work schedule, and the
unforeseen circumstance that led to lower than optimal manning (normally 3 Operations
representatives), I was able to perform all duties assigned as the single Operations
representative without flaw, including performing the procedural compliance required to
operate equipment, Work Order Holder duties, and separately as a tag out preparer.
Key accomplishments included:
 Extensive testing, trouble shooting and successful operating of Station Blackout
Diesel, to include vendor support and PLC troubleshooting efforts
 Successful emergent work on the Advance Offgas System (AOG) and Recombiner
components
 Troubleshooting and operational testing led to the station's HVAC proper operation
 Coordinated State of Vermont environmental testing efforts concerning effects on
local wildlife
Condensate Phase Separator Resin Transfer Tiger Team: VY NPP 2012-2013
As Lead Operator I planned, coordinated, and managed a cross-departmental effort for the
safe and effective removal of twenty years' worth (over 2000 cu. ft.) of exhausted
radioactive resin.
 Designed, built, and implemented a temporary system using pumps, hoses and relief
points
 Managed and coordinated all efforts concerning RadWaste operations, consisting of
temporary procedures and status control requirements for on-coming watch teams
 Successful completion of the project was attained under budget, four days early, with
all systems returned to normal operations
 Upon completion of the project, it was determined that my personnel efforts
contributed to radiological exposures that were 850 mrem less than expected
Primary Refuel Operator / Fuel Handler: ISFISI DFS 03: VY NPP 2012.
Primary Operator in the Dry Fuel Storage campaign that transferred 256 spent fuel
bundles from the spent fuel pool (SFP) to dry fuel storage casks with zero rework and no
errors. An arduous task that involved coordinated efforts between multiple operators to
ensure attention to detail followed at all times.
 Coordinated effort led to the successful transition of approximately 128 complicated,
and semi-complicated moves from primary to secondary containment
 Performed many complicated "wall" moves using auxiliary hoist equipment
 Keen observation resulted in the removal of 12 items of foreign material located in the
spent fuel pool
 Expert technical ability allowed for the maintenance and relocation of all necessary
lighting requirements under the SFP
Fire Brigade leader: VY NPP: 2012-2016
Leader of an on-duty, cross-departmental, initial responder fire brigade. Responsible for the
assignment and evaluation of qualified fire brigade members to successfully respond to a fire
casualty at a nuclear power plant. Assigned to evaluate and coordinate with off-site
emergency state, local, and federal emergency departments during a casualty situation.
Maintained the responsibility of hierarchical site command during certain site casualty
responses. Coordinated and ensured firefighting equipment and tool reliability, and
maintained an awareness of all potential risks of combustion from scheduled work activities,
including a heightened sensitivity to emergency safeguard machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities included qualifying and training existing and prospective fire brigade
members, to include the coordination of drills and assignment of specific tasks.
