COMMODORE PORTSMOUTH FLOTILLA
Upkeep Warrant Officer / Fleet Ship Husbandry Advisor - 2011 - present
Delivered at short notice, engineering and management cover to a ship as the marine
engineering officer with the specific task of ensuring the vessel completed a high profile
NATO exercise despite significant shortages in experienced and qualified manpower.
Awarded Fleet Commanders Commendation as a result.
Provision of qualitative policy advice, guidance, leadership and direction to the command and
engineering departments of Portsmouth and Rosyth based marine vessels and ships
undergoing docking and extended maintenance periods.

Assembled and correlated feedback to naval service fleet headquarters on the status of ships
in extended maintenance including audits and reports on contractor and ship’s company
performance.
Managed the transition of responsibility for upkeep guidance to Portsmouth vessels from a
central fleet Headquarters position, devolving it to the local flotilla commander’s organisation
whilst maintaining critical output tasking and information management.
Pivotal to the management system dealing with extended maintenance periods by providing

Provided Subject Matter Expert support to engineering staff within a Mine Counter Measure
Squadron which included, oversight of oral and practical examinations for personnel requiring
