Analysis of Disclosures 'Caracal' Digipak

2. Front CoverThe front cover of Disclosure’s ‘Caracal’ is quite different the other
front covers I have looked at, mainly because of the colour
scheme and choice of image on the cover. The colour scheme isn’t
what you would expect to see with the type of music Disclosure
produce, as the music they make is up beat and makes you want
to dance. And this is quite a contrast the colour seen in the cover,
the colours on the cover are quite dim, dull and dark. This is
challenging stereotypes of the front cover of a album in the
dance/house genre, so the colours are juxtaposing with the style
of music.
Another interesting area of the cover I found was the focus image.
They have used a black and white picture of a caracal’s face, as
‘Caracal’ is the is name of the album. However it has the
Disclosure image motif of white lines found on faces. This is
important as it helps viewers recognise the album as a Disclosure
album, meaning it will catch viewers eyes. As well as that the
‘Disclosure lines’ will help the fans connect with the group as they
will remember the ‘lines from previous albums and music videos.
Finally I looked at the text found on the cover, the text reads
‘Disclosure’, the artists name, and ‘Caracal’, the albums name.
‘Disclosure’ is written in the recognisable ‘Disclosure’ font, but
‘Caracal’ is written is a sharp choppy font. This suggests the music
on the album will be classic Disclosure that the fans can relate to,
but it might have a new sharp twist.

3. Back Cover
The back cover follows up from the font with the
Colour scheme and choice of image. The image they
have used is a side profile of a Caracal. The use of the
animal Caracal is very interesting as the Caracal is a
nocturnal cat. Not only is ‘Nocturnal’ the first song
featured on the album, but dance/electric often has
connotations of nocturnal and listeners staying up all
night at parties or raves.
Yet again the text found on the back resembles many
other back covers, as it has the track list, barcode,
the record label's logo, featured artists and copy
right information. The text is all written in white, and
yet again the track list is found above all the other
text found on the back cover suggesting it is the
most inportant aspect of a back cover.

4. Poster/Adverts
Lastly I looked at the poster advertisement. This
poster has a image od the two guys that make
up ‘Disclosure’, an image of all the artists that
have featured if the album, text saying who is
featured on the album and a header text stating
the name of the artist and the album. What I
found most interesting about this poster was
the colour scheme, unlike the front and back
cover the poster has many bright vibrant colours
on it. Each colour is used to fill in the featured
artists outline. This could suggest the artists all
bring a different twist to the album and that is
why it is more than a ‘standard’ dance album. As
well as that the artists faces are all covered in
the ’Disclosure lines’ motif.
