1. The Kasabian ‘Velociraptor’ album is stereotypically Indie. The album cover
isn’t cluttered like an R&B or Pop album might be, it’s well-spaced out. The
Composition of the four faces around ‘Kasabian’ logo shows the
importance of the band as it’s the centre of attention. The album name
‘Velociraptor’ connotes many things. It a very powerful sounding word and
is defined by a small, fast powerful dinosaur, much like the band’s music
fast, upbeat and meaningful.
The Album cover can be defined as Indie through the symbolic colours
scheme of the genre. The white and black colours contrast with each other
and the red connotes envy and rebellion.
The back cover is fair simple in the way in which it is
laid out much like the front cover of the album. It
follows the same house style, for example the same
font styles and colour schemes. The image shows the
band with the symbolic instruments.
The back cover also shows the record label and music
company in this case Columbia records whom are
owned by Sony Music Company.
The back cover of an album also conventionally shows
the barcode and the copyright information’s
The artwork that is used on the CD itself usually has
a print of the front cover on it. However in this case
it is slightly altered to show a human face tribal
drawing and velociraptor claws. It’s as if it’s a step
back from the face on the front cover.
It also follows the same colour scheme as the album
case so it looks professional. The recurring pattern is
still very simple like everything about the album but
is stereotypically Indie and effective.
The edging of the CD also has information on the
record label and copyright issues.
