2. Questionnaires
• When I started making my horror trailer, I decided to
create an audience questionnaire so that I could see
specifically what my audience wants to see in a horror
trailer and what does not appeal to them as much, so I
can implement them in my trailer.
3. • The results I gathered were very helpful and influential when
making my trailer. I was able to create a trailer which had all the
different techniques and important features. Each question I
asked my audience had significant value when making my trailer.
I was able to create a trailer that appeals to my audience, thanks
to my audience research.
4. • From my questionnaire I was able to ask specific questions
such as gender, ideal location for a horror film and the ideal
antagonist which really helped me narrowing down exactly
what needed to be in my trailer to make sure it wasn’t to
repetitive and anything like another horror film. I wanted
specific things which would be appealing but with my own
originality.
5. • Ideal location for my trailer From my audience research I was
able to see that the ideal location for my trailer would be in a
haunted house so I would completely avoid filming my trailer
in an abandoned area because only 10% of my audience
wanted this to be the location.
6. Antagonist
• From my audience research I was able to see that a ghost
would be the most ideal antagonist even though it is a popular
antagonist it is clearly the scariest antagonist to see in a trailer
because if my audience was bored of seeing ghosts in horror
trailers they would have chosen a different option. Zombies
were the least appealing so I would have never used them as
my antagonist.
7. Pearl And Dean
• Also by looking at the pearl and dean website I was able to
look at a film which has the same rating as what my horror
trailer will have. By looking at insidious’s profile I was able to
see exact statistics for age, gender and class. This was very
useful information to help when creating my horror trailer
specifically at 15-24 year olds, males and Students.
8. Magazine & Poster
• After asking people about horror trailer audience feedback, I asked them
to comment on what they want to be seen in a poster and magazine front
cover. Colours and lighting: almost all of my audience said they want to
see dark haunting colours for both the trailer and magazine but also bright
lighting on specific parts of the magazine and poster which are eye
catching. The content: content on my magazine had to be appealing and
draw the audience in because even if they picture is eye catching but the
content isn't interesting people wouldn’t be likely to buy the magazine.
The poster has to have all the information of who is involved in the trailer
including director and all of the cast to make it seem as realistic as
possible. Main Image: The main image has to be the scariest and have a
haunting aura to really capture the theme of my trailer.
