Question 6
1. QUESTION 6: WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THE
PRODUCT?
2. WHAT IS THE PROCESS YOU WENT
THROUGH TO CREATE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCTS?
• In order to create my product, I first conducted by own research by
looking at other existing country magazines and began to take
inspiration from them to help me with my product. After this, I then
decided on a layout and positioning for my front cover, contents page,
and double page spread. I drew inspiration from the magazine - Country
Weekly to aid me in this step. i also looked at images of other music
magazines like Q to help me decide which font I wanted to choose and
which ones worked best with my genre. For example, most typical rock
genre magazines contain fonts with sharp edges, and so this would not
with my media products so I did not choose them. After choosing and
downloading some that I thought would look good with my genre, I
began to put all my ideas together and started to create my media
products.
3. HOW HAVE YOU USED AN SLR OR BRIDGE
CAMERA? WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM
IT?
• I used an SLR camera to photograph my models and I learnt
many things from using it, such as what lighting goes best with
certain images and where to position the camera. I also learnt
learnt that flash does not go well with images that are to be used
professionally, for example – a music magazine. I learnt that this
is because it increases the exposure of the photographs and
washes out some of the colour, leaving the photo often with
hideous flashback or an overly bright picture.
4. WHAT WEBSITES DID YOU USE
THROUGH THE PRODUCTION?
Throughout the production, I used many websites such as: prezi,
emaze, powtoon, and slideshare that allowed me to create
presentations on my research that I had collected about my genre.
I was also able to use a timelines website that allowed me to create
a timeline for many popular country singers and artists. Pre-
production, I used short presentations to brainstorm and think of
ideas that I wanted my media products to portray or show.
5. HOW HAVE YOU USED WEB APPLICATIONS AND ONLINE
FORUMS TO SHOWCASE YOUR RESEARCH, PLANNING,
DRAFTING, FINAL PRODUCTS AND EVALUATION? (PREZI,
SLIDESHARE, YOUTUBE, POWTOON AND OF COURSE
WIKISPACE?
These websites have helped me and allowed me to create small
presentations that aided me in deciding what I wanted my
magazine to look like. They also helped me to see various
magazines which I took inspiration from e.g. layout, spacing of sell
lines and even what colour scheme to go with. These websites also
allowed me to show the process of how exactly I came up with all
these ideas for my media products and why I decided to choose
them. I wanted to make sure that my media products also reflected
existing media products so that my audience could see a relation
between the two.
