2. Process of creating questionnaire
In order to gather ideas get helpful information for the purpose of creating a
successful music magazine I decided to create a market research
questionnaire. I asked 25 members of my class to vote out of the choices from
the questions I asked about things that they would like to find in a music
magazine, this helped me to decide what my magazine would consist of.
I created tables on excel of the outcome which helped me to see clearly what
the most voted results were in a clear format, and from the votes I chose to
use those aspects in my magazine.
These results helped me to establish what was going to be in my magazine
which I found extremely useful since I have never made one before. I aim to
create a music magazine successfully by using all the typical aspects of music
magazine. I shall analyse several magazines to give me inspiration for my
magazine layout and textual analysis.
3. What age should a music magazine
be aimed at?
I will aim my magazine at
10-16 year olds as it will
suit well a younger
audience especially with
the indie/rock genre which
is extremely poplar among
teens.
4. Roughly how much money would
you pay for a music magazine?
From this result I am going to make
my magazine £1.50 as it is between
£1 - £2 and I would obviously want
people to spend a reasonable amount
of money on my magazine, especially
if the age results I gathered state that I
should aim my magazine at 10-16
year olds.
5. What’s your favourite genre? (Out
of the following)
I have decided to create an
indie/rock magazine as that genre
was the most voted from the
questionnaire. I want to create a
indie/rock magazine as it fits in
well with retro/vintage photo affect
which I enjoy editing.
6. What’s your favourite music
magazine? (out of the following)
The most voted magazine was
NME which suits perfectly with my
chosen genre of indie/rock as NME
is a indie/rock magazine.
7. What would you like to read about
in a music magazines double page
spread?
I have decided to base double page
spread article on my own made up
musician ‘Misty’. The article will
include Misty’s past and how she
made it in the industry, where she is
now and include promoting her new
album and hit single.
8. What colour would you like the
masthead to be on the front cover?
I will be using a white colour
typeface for my masthead as I
think my image will be quite dark
and the white masthead will
stand out against the image.
9. What name would you like a music
magazine to be called?
Fusion was the most voted
magazine name out of all the
choices. It was also my favourite
when brainstorming ideas as I
realised that the name Fusion
could represent the fusing of all
artists in one magazine for the
chosen genre for my magazine.
10. How often would you like a new
magazine to be released?
I will be making Fusion a monthly
released magazine so that my
magazine would have time to
find even more new upcoming
artists.
11. What are your favourite types of
font?
I will be using Calibri for my
article fonts as it is clear and
easy to read, also as it was the
most voted result out of all the
choices.
