1. I have designed my magazine specifically for two different age ranges. My primary audience is for people who
actually lived through the 80s, so people who are around 35 and upwards. This would be because they are
familiar with this genre and already know about it so it would interest them to know what their favourite
singer is doing now. There are aspects in the magazine such as a top 10 song list or tour dates that would
interest this age group, as they can catch up with what's happening now. The secondary audience is for
younger people who would like to get to know 80s music genre. After doing my market research, I decided
the age range for this group of people would be around 16 to 21. I chose this not only as my research said that
this age range would potentially buy a magazine of this genre, but also because it is a good magazine for
people of that age who would like to know more about this genre and would like to start listening to this type
of music.
Although females said they may potentially listen to this type of music, many said they wouldn’t most likely
not purchase a music magazine based around this genre. However the males audiences that I asked said they
would listen to this type of music, and many would say that they would buy this magazine as well. For these
reasons, I decided that this magazine would be more directed at men. This is shown by my main article on my
double page spread being about a male character in an all male band. This represents my target audience as
my target audience is who my character is based around.
