Lesson summary:
Teacher plays “The Food Song”. Individually, the pupils fill in the blanks in the lyrics before discussing the answers. Then, in groups,
pupils list down examples of healthy and unhealthy food.
Content Standard

Objectives: By the end of the lesson pupils should be able to:

Sing a song with correct pronunciation and rhythm.

List at least two examples of healthy food and junk food correctly.

3.

Fill in blanks in a song lyric with at least 4 out of 6 words correctly.

DAILY LESSON PLAN FOR YEAR 3 Name: Hidayah Bt M.Salleh Date: 10/6/2013 Day: Monday Year: 3 Cerdik Theme: World of Knowledge No. Of Students: 20 Topic: Being Healthy Duration: 60 minutes Time: 8.45 a.m – 9.45 a.m Lesson summary: Teacher plays “The Food Song”. Individually, the pupils fill in the blanks in the lyrics before discussing the answers. Then, in groups, pupils list down examples of healthy and unhealthy food. Content Standard Learning Standard 1.1.1 Able to speak with correct word 1.1 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. stress 1.1.4 Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance. Pupils’ previous knowledge: Students have learnt about food in the previous lesson. Objectives: By the end of the lesson pupils should be able to: 1. Sing a song with correct pronunciation and rhythm. 2. List at least two examples of healthy food and junk food correctly. 3. Fill in blanks in a song lyric with at least 4 out of 6 words correctly.

Contents: Apples Oranges Chips Sweets Healthy Food Junk Food Moral Values/ Educational Emphases: 1) Cooperation 2) Awareness Stage Content Focus/ Skills Teaching and Learning Activities Teacher’s Activity 1. Teacher asks questions about foods. INDUCTION SET Listening Speaking + 5 minutes Pupils’ Activity Teaching Aids / Values 1. Pupils answer the questions orally. e.g.: What is your favourite food? 2. Teacher relates it to the topic. 1. Teacher shows some pictures of food. Pre-reading + 10 minutes Listening Speaking 2. Teacher guides pupils to talk about the pictures. by asking questions: 1. Pupils respond by naming the food they see. Powerpoint presentation (Appendix1) Laptop LCD Remarks
  • 3. e.g. What can you see in the picture? Can you name the food in the picture? While-reading + 20 Minutes Listening Speaking Reading Words: 1. Teacher plays the song once. 1. Pupils listen to the song once. 2. Teacher distributes the worksheet to the pupils. 2. Pupils listen to the song twice and fill in the blanks. 3. Teacher plays the song twice. 3. Pupils respond to teacher’s questions. Worksheet 1 (Appendix2) 4. Teacher checks the answers together with the pupils. 5. Teacher shows the lyrics and gets pupils to sing the song twice. 6. Teacher asks pupils questions based on the song. E.g. What are the names of the food in the song? Song lyric (Appendix3) Apples Oranges Chips Sweets Healthy Food Junk Food
  • 4. Which food is good for your health? Which food is bad for your health? Which food do you like? 1. Teacher divides the pupils into 5 groups. Post- reading + 20 minutes 2. Teacher distributes worksheet to groups. Speaking Writing 3. Teacher asks pupils to list 2 junk food and 2 healthy food. 1. In groups, pupils list two healthy food and two junk food that they know. 2. Groups present their answers in front of the class. 4. Teacher discusses the groups’ answers. CLOSURE + 5 Minutes Speaking Teacher refreshes the student on what they have learnt. Pupils present the song in the class. Worksheet 2 (Appendix4)
