Time Inc. would be the preferred media group to publish the magazine. They have a partnership with Rock Sound, which is similar in style and genre to the magazine. Time Inc. sells over 350 million copies annually and reaches over 26 million UK readers, providing an easily accessible target audience. While some negative press claims a fall in leadership, their proven record of success in the past provides reassurance.
1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your magazine
product and why?
2. • Bauer media group is the largest privately owned European publishing
group.
• They offer a range of over 300 magazines to more than 22 million British
adults.
• They publish magazines that are closely related to my magazine, Like
Kerrang. Although my magazine is similar to Kerrang its not the same,
therefore I think it is a bit of a stretch to add my genre to their collection.
However this could be an opportunity to expand their profits and
audience.
• I would love for them to publish my magazine because I am I fan of some of
their other magazines, and I therefore know how much of a success they
are.
3. • Time Inc. is a consumer magazine publisher in the UK who sell 350
million copies of the magazines each year.
• Over 26 million people in the UK read magazines published by Time
Inc.
• I think it is a certainty that my magazine would be easily found by my
target audience. I know that high standards will be met by this
production company because
• They also have a partnership with my style model magazine ‘Rock
Sound’. I think my magazine is similar to ‘Rock Sound’- therefore my
magazine would fit in well with Time Inc.
4. Which media group would I like to publish my
magazine?
• Preferably I would like if ‘Time inc.’ was to publish my magazine. This
decision is due to the fact that they distribute one of my style model
magazines, therefore I know they are experienced and reliable in the
market I am looking to enter. Having looked at their statistics, I think
my magazine has a high chance of success, being sold alongside their
other more popular magazines. After doing some research I have
found some negative newspaper headlines, claiming they are playing
a “fall” of “leadership”, but I feel reassured by the resounding
successes in the past. They clearly know “how to play the game”.
