April 2009 I have been appointed BDM for an Italian construction
company operating in the Oil & Gas field. I have been promoting the
Company business in many countries, including Algeria, Ghana,
Uganda, Congo and Kazakhstan, successfully qualifying for major
clients and very promising projects.
2007 – 2009 - IMPREGILO S.p.A.
Country Manager Nigeria
November 2007 I have been appointed Country Manager for
IMPREGILO, the major Italian engineering & construction company
(over € 3 billions turnover /y ). Overlooking and managing the activities
of 3 companies in which the group had equities or full control/ownership.
The interest was mainly focused to infrastructural works (roads, bridges,
water schemes, dams and irrigation networks, ports, airports, etc). I
managed two projects: one for road construction in a swampy area,
which included mass dredging activity for the sand filling; and a second
project for an irrigation scheme. May 2008 we have been awarded a
contract for the construction of a bridge of 250 m span.
2002 - 2007 – SICIM SpA – Busseto (PR)
Branch Manager Kazakhstan
Since June 2005 I have been appointed as Branch Manager of
Kazakhstan after the company have been awarded a new contract for
flow lines and injection lines construction in Tengiz area that I have
proposed and negotiated. Our project was a portion of a giant expansion
project of a value of few billions of US$.
During this period I have been managing as Project Director, 4 contracts
for pipeline construction and for Plant fabrication and erection with
Parsons Fluor Daniel(PFD) and TengizChevrOil ( TCO) with about 70
millions US$ turn over for the year 2007. The number of direct
employees was about 1300 including local man power.
Previously, from December 2004, I was acting as Area Manager for
Kazakhstan, based in Italy, continuing the commercial activity in the
area and taking care of the follow up of the projects awarded to a
Consortium between Bonatti & Sicim.
General Manager Caspian Area
From December 2003 to December 2004 I have been covering the
position of General Manager of Consortium Bonatti-Sicim for the
Caspian Area where the Company is operating in oil & gas.
The activities in the Caspian area were concerning 3 contracts with Agip
KCO for early works of Kashagan oil field
one for earth works and piling;
3. a second for general facilities such as tanks foundations,
buildings, water & firewater pump house, diesel pump
equipment facility, fuel gas base, substation, pipe racks,
underground services, electrical installations, fire & safety, roads
, fencing;
a third one for –HDPE 400 mm-water supply and –12” steel-gas
pipeline construction
A fourth contract with PFD (Parsons – Fluor - Daniel) for the
construction of 121 Km of 40” gas export pipeline. For this project I was
also in charge as Project Director.
Projects value about 60 millions US$ ; average personnel 900 units.
Before Kazakhstan I was operating in the Commercial Department at
the head office and I have been particularly busy with Kazakhstan
market and other Middle East countries for tenders evaluation and
price analysis concerning projects of great importance and value, some
of them EPC Contracts .
I was also in charge of relations with new clients in Italy for water
projects and energy projects (pipelines for gas supply for new power
plants).

I have been operating as P.M. for the construction of a water distribution
network in Palermo down town (Sicily).
The project is consisting in about 47 Km of HDPE pipes of various
diameters ( 110- 350 mm) to be laid in historical roads and in a very
busy traffic . A very demanding project in terms of planning and
coordination of various crews.
Project value : 10 million EURO
Average personnel : 100 units.

Regarding management, besides the obvious activities of the position, I
have been very much involved in developing and co-ordinating claims,
arbitrages and legal activities, together with lawyers and technical
advisors.
Considering the small dimension of the company, although my position I
have been deeply involved in projects management and construction;

for the construction of gas metering stations and a 16” high pressure
pipeline ; we have got a contract, with a company of ANSALDO GIE
Group – SICOM , for the civil works of the ARAK refinery in IRAN (project
management and engineering by JGC – Japan ) .
Project value was about Lit. 40 billions , including an amount in local
currency .
For this project I have also been in charge of the operations as Project
Director, supervising and co-ordinating constructions activities and project
organisation with very frequent trips to the site .

We have been awarded many contracts in Italy for construction of gas
pipeline ( SNAM), gas stations ( SNAM), water transportation pipelines,
gas distribution networks ( ITALGAS and VENEZIANA GAS ) .
We have also been awarded a contract with AGIP PETROLI S.p.A. for
the construction of a “blending plant” at Tema in GHANA .
The job included civil works, pipeline from the harbour to the site (7Km),
piping works, tanks, fire fighting system, plant and machinery erection,
electrical and lighting system, start up, etc.
For this contract I have also organised the operations, opened the local
branch in Accra , selected the subcontractors and suppliers, defined the
standard sub-contract agreement in collaboration with a local legal
advisor , opened the bank account and financial agreements, co-
ordinated custom clearing and forwarding agent and begun preliminaries
site works .
I have also been involved in marketing and many tenders in other
countries like Tunisia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Peru and Bangladesh.

Construction of a gas network in shallow waters in Venice lagoon,
prefabricating steel pipes strings of 200m length onshore and laying
all of them into water flooded trenches , transported, positioned and
tied in to constitute the total network. A “deep” water open cut canal
crossing (11 m + 3 m trench ) of about 500m was also included in
the project.
construction of a water line at Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia ( O.D. 1200
– cement pipes ) for the Royal Commission.
construction of a high pressure gas pipeline in Bangladesh
(Backrabad –Chittagong ), 240 Km of 24” pipes, including a
metering station and a gas treatment station . The project value was
about U.S. $ 45 millions .
For this project I have been in charge for the local branch installation, for
purchasing & expediting of main materials and equipment from Singapore
( a joint venture Bangla-Italian company was incorporated there to
manage and supervise the project ) and I was in charge for the
management of the initial operations.

The above mentioned Italmontaggi SpA , controlled (90%) this small
company and I have been requested by the owner to manage this
company while doing my main activity as Manager of the “mother”
company .
Italdrill was specialised in geological survey and geotechnics. We did also
cement injections, jet grouting and micro piling .

I began as assistant to the P.M. , in charge of “Cost Control and
Planning”. From July 1980 I have been acting as Project Manager . The
contract was awarded for the construction of a gas pipeline, 42” diameter
of about 250 Km .
Project value about 50 millions US$ ( besides there was a big amount of
local currency at reimbursable cost ).
