Project : The Base Project Harbor and its Branch and Main Navigational
Channel
Client : Private Engineering Office
Designation : Marine Engineer / Inspector
Work profile : A marine project comprises, reclamation to build a land area of 640,000
Sqm. and dredging to form a water basin of 320,000 Sqm. & a 10.60
km long x 80m wide x 8m deep navigation channel.
Nature of work : The aim is to develop a fully functional maritime base for the
Qatari Coast Guard at Sumaysimah, comprising marine and
landside facilities. The development of this facility will aid the
protection of the coastal area and improve the response time of action
by the Coast Guard during emergencies.
The Project Site is exposed to waves emanating from the Arabian Gulf.
In particular, Sumaysimah is exposed to waves from the north-eastern
quadrant, therefore adequate tranquility conditions inside the harbour
basin would have to be guaranteed to ensure safe berthing of the
Coast Guard fleet, formed by approximately 150 small to medium
size boats with a length up to 45m (refer to Table 1 below), and no
damage to the berthing structures and landside facilities during storm
events.
Mass Excavation in rocky strata for a harbor basin approximately 2.59
million cubic meters and for navigation channel approximately 2.08
million cubic meters. Reclamation work of a land approximately 0.65
million cubic meters.
Responsibilities : Responsible for progressive inspection & approval of works, review &
approval of the shop drawings, witnessing sampling & testing,
maintaining Quality records, etc.
Project : Design and Build of Six Reclaimed Islands

Work profile : The project consist of reclaimed islands off the Eastern coast of Qatar
and offshore of Lusail area. The Islands will be developed into a
high end resort with all hospitality and leisure facilities in order to
attract potential visitors and investors.
The Islands are known as Lusail Island No.1, 2,.3a, 3b, 3c and 3d.
Those Islands will be reclaimed using material dredged from the coast
guard base main navigation channel.
Nature of work : The islands' marine works construction will comprise:
• Beaches

• Small Marina
• Navigation channels to connect this Island to the main
navigation channel
