ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
On the 15th
of February, the Romanian coordinator sent us the instructions for the next
local activity: THE STORYTELLER. In the English department, teachers analysed the
PowerPoint with these instructions and started to organize the activity. We decided to work
with our students in 3ºESO (9th
grade) and focus on the writing of poems, since the 21st
of
March is the World Poetry Day, an important date in our school’s calendar – always filled with
special activities and commemorations.
The 9th
grade English teachers, Luisa Marta Garrido and Sonia Gutiérrez, presented this
activity to their groups. During the last weeks of February, they dedicated some of their lessons
to analyse the most important features of poetry and some of the main figures of speech. In
March, students are going to start working on their own poems about experiences at school to
carry out the activity THE STORYTELLER.
The 9th
grade English teachers, Luisa Marta Garrido and Sonia Gutiérrez continued
working with their students on the local activity: THE STORYTELLER. They collected,
checked and suggested improvements to the different poems composed by their students. In the
English department meeting and in the bilingual meeting, teachers read a selection of the best
poems and chose the five winners, taking into account the criteria established by the leading
organization of this activity SCOALA GIMNAZIALA LUCIAN GRIGORESCU (Romania).
The school Erasmus+ coordinator sends this products to the leading organization of the activity.
1. I believe in school friends, by Amaya Susilla
2. Dancing heart, by Sandra Zamora
3. Feel the nature in school, by Eric Daniel Mirón
4. October 31st
, by Irene Marín
5. Harévolar, by Sofía Díaz-Suelto
On the other hand, our school continued making great effort to promote wellbeing,
which is one of the main objectives of our project. For this reason, we organised a letter
exchange between students, teachers, and staff in the context of St. Valentine’s Day. Members
of the school community could write letters of friendship and appreciation; the language
teachers collected all these letters and on the 14th
of February, with the help of some “Cupids”
(students from 10th
grade), they handed in the letters to their respective addressees. More than
2,000 letters were delivered with this activity!
Besides, this local activity is included in our school project to celebrate the World
Poetry Day and it is embedded into a whole week of celebrations (20-24 march 2023), all of
which were aimed at encouraging the development of students’ expressive and creative skills
through art; some of the activities were also designed under the service-learning methodology.
Some of the most representative activities of this week, apart from our Erasmus+ literary
contest, include: recitation of poems to students from the primary school as well as to the elderly
in the local nursing home, writing famous verses in the school’s enclosing walls, hanging QR
codes in the park’s trees for people to scan them and read famous poems and students’ creations.
Finally, all throughout this month, the partner schools in this project were receiving
a copy of the first issue of our school newspaper – a product that started in December 2022
to raise awareness about the most interested activities and projects carried out in our school.
This newspaper focused mainly on the activities that were related to our Erasmus+ project, that
is, the activities that clearly foster our goals: wellbeing, mutual respect, teamwork, inclusion,
diversity, tolerance. By sending copies to the other partner schools, we maximize the
dissemination process of “Together, in Harmony!”
