3. The first thing I did was copy over
his neck tattoos from the previous
pages and manipulated them to
make sure they were in the correct
places, followed the curves of his
neck and look realistic. I did this
with a few added and/or changed
lines and the blur tool.
4. Then I darkened the entire image, isolated the model with the select
tool and brightened him as well as up the contrast to make his
features sharper. The brightness changes were to create a more
neutral background for writing and to bring more focus to the
model.
5. On a separate page I created the
headline. I traced around a font
that I found online and then
coloured it in with the drawing
tool so that I could leave gaps
giving it a hand-drawn look.
6. After copying the headline
onto my page, I used fonts on
the software to create the
sub-heading and article
summary. I made the writing
curve around the model and
the focus of the image.
7. Next I draw a few lines and then copied
them to make a border that followed the
hand-drawn theme. I also drew out a
page number box and a title for the page.
8. I used this as a sub image,
drew a border and
captioned it. This was to
conform to another
convention of magazines
which is sub images and to
also use up empty space.
9. At this stage I had
finished the page and
just needed to write up
and add the article.
10. After adding the article
and getting responses, it
was clear that the article
wasnโt clear enough.
11. I decided to add a quote
from the article as this
attracts the audience and
is another convention.
However the writing is
still unclear.
12. To combat this issue with clarity, I added a translucent black
background to the article and moulded it around the model.
