HOW LONG
ritish Prime Minis-
ter Boris Johnson
survived a no-confi-
dence vote against
his government but
the top Brexit votary found his
support within the Conservative
Party dwindling. In the vote
which Johnson won 211-148 only
59 percent of his MPs voted in
his favour. Prime Minister John-
son had swept the 2019 election
riding on the Brexit wave but
alcohol parties which he and his
staff hosted at the prime minis-
ter’s Downing Street residence
during the pandemic dented his
image. Scotland Yard found him
guilty of hosting his birthday
party in breach of Covid rules.
He admitted to having paid a
fine for the breach for which he
publicly apologised.
After winning the no-confi-
dence vote Boris Johnson called
it “Conclusive. Decisive result.”
Going by the discontent among
Tories it is anything but that. He
may not survive in office for
long. Conservative lawmakers
fear that the 57-year-old prime
minister’s authority has been
eroded and cite rising prices and
looming recession as his inabil-
ity to govern.

have had an unbridled run so
far, are not happy with the

On the face of it the action
is not too harsh as suspen-
sions and expulsions can al-
ways be revoked but the trolls
find even a soft action against
a karykarta inexplicable.
They view it as a Hindu gov-
ernment succumbing to pres-
sure from Islamic countries.
And that hurts the Hindu
pride, stories of which have
been instilled in the minds of
trolls since 2014. As #Shame-
OnBJP# began trending on
Twitter, the BJP must have
realised the dangers of creat-
ing a Frankenstein monster.
Action against a “young
Hindu leader” was the least
expected and the BJP must
be worried about how to
douse the anger at home
without causing uproar
abroad. Interestingly, one
Twitter handle went to the
extent of imagining Yogi
Adityanath as Prime Minis-
ter at this juncture. “Dear
Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji
as Prime Minister of India.”
Sadly, the BJP leadership
did not give its troll army
any lessons in international
relations and why the Gulf

trolls must bear in mind that
India has not apologized for
BJP spokespersons’ utter-
ances so far.

Performers will be in a ‘trance’,
we need to understand their pain
hisweek,Ishiftfromtheusual
politicaldiscussionandanaly-
sis and would like to concen-
trateonthelittlethingswhich
we usually don’t do on time
and think all will be fine… but
it doesn’t happen that way!
Every incident should
serve as an eye opener and
we should actually learn
from the lapses and see that
we NEVER repeat our act to
botch up things.
Almost seven days after
the untimely demise of KK in
Kolkata, the air is still heavy
and everyone feels that there
was so much that could be
done to try and save him.
Performers will be per-
formers… they remain in a
trance and their ultimate aim
is to give their best shot and
there are several instances
when they (performers) be
singers or players have not
cared about their health but
have gone that extra mile to
give their best!
Even on that fateful night
when the disturbing videos
which have gone viral have
shown that KK was profusely
sweating and had even asked
the organisers to switch off
some lights as he was “actu-
ally feeling the heat”, but like
a true performer, he never
called it quits.
It is actually the people as-
sociated with these true pro-
fessionals who should treat
them delicately and try to be
more understanding as these
stars remain in a trance
while they perform.
SAMPLE THIS…
In May 2002, when India took
on West Indies in the fourth
Test of a series… on the third
day of the Test, Anil Kumble
while batting was struck
hard under his left jaw, rat-
tling him and Team India.
However, after being attend-
ed to by team physio Andrew
Leipus, Kumble spat blood
but strapped his helmet back
and took guard again!
Mervyn Dillon sent in a
few more short ones and
Kumble who was already
writhing in pain fended one
to Chanderpaul.
Kumble was rushed to the
hospital but the first X-ray
revealed nothing. The next
morning when he told Leipus
that the pain was too much.
Another X-ray revealed that
the jaw had a crack and was
moving on its own!
Kumble didn’t want to get
the surgery done in the West
Indies and was set to leave for
India in the evening.
With Kumble gone and In-
dia hamstrung in the bowling
department, captain Sourav
Ganguly decided to bat on.
Finally, when West Indies
were put in to bat, there was
still some juice in the pitch.
With Kumble sidelined,
Sachin Tendulkar was forced
to wage the battle.
That’s when Kumble
shocked the entire cricketing
world!
Kumble got physio Andrew
Leipus to bandage his face
and turned up to do his duty
for India! Kumble bowled in
excruciating pain.
But then Kumble being
Kumble… he flummoxed
Lara in his fourth over when
hetrappedtheLegendplumb.
By then, Kumble’s face was
swelling. Later when asked
why he decided to come back,
he said: “I didn’t want to sit
around.”
The all-time great Viv
Richards had said, “It was
one of the bravest things I’ve
seen on the field of play
.”
We must not just appreci-
ate, laud, hail and salute such
deeds but also understand
that after all they are humans
and need care too.
That crucial hour on that
fateful day after the show was
wasted, many felt. All of us
got to see how fatigued KK
looked when he was being
rushed out after the show.
Doctors and medical ex-
perts have come down heavily
on the fact that while he could
have been wheeled out of the
auditorium,whywashemade
to walk briskly after such a
hectic show. And surprising-
ly, despite having quite a few
hospitals in the vicinity
, why
didn’t his support team and
the organisers insist on giv-
ing him medical care.
We need to give performers
that conducive atmosphere,
the medical attention and full
care waiting in tow and an
understanding support staff.
Spectators and audience
sometimes fail to realise that
the performers can falter and
they need to be given that
space and here the organisers
should play a huge role in fa-
cilitating the performer… the
organisers must realise that
by simply booking a show
they can’t force or ask a per-
son to perform in conditions
with three times more the
crowd and from time to time
they also need to check if the
performer is comfortable.
Today, KK is not with us,
but have we learnt anything
from this… are we better or-
ganisers or better specta-
tors… or are we still that sav-
age lot asking for more!

low division of the

addressing a party
meeting in Alipurduar.
The Trinamool later

Anurag Thakur @ianuragthakur Got an opportunity to be present in the State Working Committee meeting with the Godlike office bearers of @ BJP4Himachal and share my views. The organized and huge family of BJP is full of energy, eager to bloom the lotus again in the upcoming assembly elections. TOP TWEETS BORIS JOHNSON SURVIVES FOR NOW, BUT FOR HOW LONG ritish Prime Minis- ter Boris Johnson survived a no-confi- dence vote against his government but the top Brexit votary found his support within the Conservative Party dwindling. In the vote which Johnson won 211-148 only 59 percent of his MPs voted in his favour. Prime Minister John- son had swept the 2019 election riding on the Brexit wave but alcohol parties which he and his staff hosted at the prime minis- ter’s Downing Street residence during the pandemic dented his image. Scotland Yard found him guilty of hosting his birthday party in breach of Covid rules. He admitted to having paid a fine for the breach for which he publicly apologised. After winning the no-confi- dence vote Boris Johnson called it “Conclusive. Decisive result.” Going by the discontent among Tories it is anything but that. He may not survive in office for long. Conservative lawmakers fear that the 57-year-old prime minister’s authority has been eroded and cite rising prices and looming recession as his inabil- ity to govern. B ith more Muslim countries, 15 of them, expressing their anger over the BJP “fringe” elements’ remarks on Proph- et Muhammad, the ruling party at the Centre finds it- self in a spot. The govern- ment may diplomatically manage the huge backlash, the first of its kind against the BJP, the challenge from within will be harder to han- dle. The fringe elements, who have had an unbridled run so far, are not happy with the suspension of spokesperson Nupur Sharma and the expul- sionof NaveenKumarJindal. On the face of it the action is not too harsh as suspen- sions and expulsions can al- ways be revoked but the trolls find even a soft action against a karykarta inexplicable. They view it as a Hindu gov- ernment succumbing to pres- sure from Islamic countries. And that hurts the Hindu pride, stories of which have been instilled in the minds of trolls since 2014. As #Shame- OnBJP# began trending on Twitter, the BJP must have realised the dangers of creat- ing a Frankenstein monster. Action against a “young Hindu leader” was the least expected and the BJP must be worried about how to douse the anger at home without causing uproar abroad. Interestingly, one Twitter handle went to the extent of imagining Yogi Adityanath as Prime Minis- ter at this juncture. “Dear Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji as Prime Minister of India.” Sadly, the BJP leadership did not give its troll army any lessons in international relations and why the Gulf Cooperation Council’s pro- tests cannot be ignored. The trolls must bear in mind that India has not apologized for BJP spokespersons’ utter- ances so far. TROLL ARMY STANDS BY NUPUR SHARMA Action against a “young Hindu leader” was the least expected and the BJP must be worried about how to douse the anger at home without causing uproar abroad. Interestingly, one Twitter handle went to the extent of imagining Yogi Adityanath as Prime Minister at this juncture. “Dear Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji as Prime Minister of India” W Performers will be in a ‘trance’, we need to understand their pain hisweek,Ishiftfromtheusual politicaldiscussionandanaly- sis and would like to concen- trateonthelittlethingswhich we usually don’t do on time and think all will be fine… but it doesn’t happen that way! Every incident should serve as an eye opener and we should actually learn from the lapses and see that we NEVER repeat our act to botch up things. Almost seven days after the untimely demise of KK in Kolkata, the air is still heavy and everyone feels that there was so much that could be done to try and save him. Performers will be per- formers… they remain in a trance and their ultimate aim is to give their best shot and there are several instances when they (performers) be singers or players have not cared about their health but have gone that extra mile to give their best! Even on that fateful night when the disturbing videos which have gone viral have shown that KK was profusely sweating and had even asked the organisers to switch off some lights as he was “actu- ally feeling the heat”, but like a true performer, he never called it quits. It is actually the people as- sociated with these true pro- fessionals who should treat them delicately and try to be more understanding as these stars remain in a trance while they perform. SAMPLE THIS… In May 2002, when India took on West Indies in the fourth Test of a series… on the third day of the Test, Anil Kumble while batting was struck hard under his left jaw, rat- tling him and Team India. However, after being attend- ed to by team physio Andrew Leipus, Kumble spat blood but strapped his helmet back and took guard again! Mervyn Dillon sent in a few more short ones and Kumble who was already writhing in pain fended one to Chanderpaul. Kumble was rushed to the hospital but the first X-ray revealed nothing. The next morning when he told Leipus that the pain was too much. Another X-ray revealed that the jaw had a crack and was moving on its own! Kumble didn’t want to get the surgery done in the West Indies and was set to leave for India in the evening. With Kumble gone and In- dia hamstrung in the bowling department, captain Sourav Ganguly decided to bat on. Finally, when West Indies were put in to bat, there was still some juice in the pitch. With Kumble sidelined, Sachin Tendulkar was forced to wage the battle. That’s when Kumble shocked the entire cricketing world! Kumble got physio Andrew Leipus to bandage his face and turned up to do his duty for India! Kumble bowled in excruciating pain. But then Kumble being Kumble… he flummoxed Lara in his fourth over when hetrappedtheLegendplumb. By then, Kumble’s face was swelling. Later when asked why he decided to come back, he said: “I didn’t want to sit around.” The all-time great Viv Richards had said, “It was one of the bravest things I’ve seen on the field of play .” We must not just appreci- ate, laud, hail and salute such deeds but also understand that after all they are humans and need care too. That crucial hour on that fateful day after the show was wasted, many felt. All of us got to see how fatigued KK looked when he was being rushed out after the show. Doctors and medical ex- perts have come down heavily on the fact that while he could have been wheeled out of the auditorium, whywashemade to walk briskly after such a hectic show. And surprising- ly, despite having quite a few hospitals in the vicinity , why didn’t his support team and the organisers insist on giv- ing him medical care. We need to give performers that conducive atmosphere, the medical attention and full care waiting in tow and an understanding support staff. Spectators and audience sometimes fail to realise that the performers can falter and they need to be given that space and here the organisers should play a huge role in fa- cilitating the performer… the organisers must realise that by simply booking a show they can’t force or ask a per- son to perform in conditions with three times more the crowd and from time to time they also need to check if the performer is comfortable. Today, KK is not with us, but have we learnt anything from this… are we better or- ganisers or better specta- tors… or are we still that sav- age lot asking for more! THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL T In May 2002, when India took on West Indies in the fourth Test of a series… on the third day of the Test, Anil Kumble while batting was struck hard under his left jaw, rattling him and Team India. • 18. Poonam Sharma Jaipur: In the Rajya Sabha elections, inde- pendent candidate sup- ported by BJP Dr. Sub- hash Chandra has claimed to have made a dent in the Congress. Speaking to media on Tuesday, Dr. Chandra claimed that apart from 30 BJP MLAs, the sup- port of 12 more MLAs is with him. “8 Congress MLAs will do cross vot- ing. Four more MLAs from other parties will also vote for me. Con- gress MLAs will cross vote because those MLAs have been trou- bled by this rule and feel left out. That is why I count on their support. Eight of the MLAs in- volved in the barricade of Congress have prom- ised to vote for me,” Dr. Chandra said. Claiming that Sachin Pilot has a major oppor- tunity at his hands, Dr. Chandra said, “Sachin Pilot has this opportu- nity, if he misses this opportunity today, he will not become CM till 2028. Sachin Pilot is a fiesty leader of Con- gress. I had a very good relationship with his father. Ashok Gehlot also shows eyes to the high command, in the same way Sachin Pilot should also take a stand now. He has a chance in the Rajya Sabha elec- tions, if he supports, there are chances of himbecomingtheCMin 2023. Otherwise there is no chance till 2028.” “I have been a Rajya Sabha MP from Hary- ana for 6 years. The peo- ple there know what work I have done. In Haryana, the MLAs wanted me to win, so the victory was mine. If the MLAs of Rajasthan also want, the victory will be mine. We have not locked anyone in the ho- tel or any other place. Because I have no fear of any kind,” he added. Dr. Chandra also lashed out at the state government and said that the phones of 40-45 people are being tapped. The situation is that our own watchman has been caught working for the police. On the alle- gations of Aam Aadmi Party giving 40 crore rupees to RLP, he said that Subhash Chandra does not need it. Had I needed the seat so much, the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party would have come run- ning, he said Dr Chandra also opined that the Rajya Sabha elections will de- cide the direction of the 2023 Rajasthan Assem- bly Elections. z How did the MLAs who had been abus- ing till yesterday sud- denly landed in CM’s plane? I have given a complaint letter to the Election Commission. The MLAs who were abus- ing till yesterday, how did they suddenly go away happily in the plane? There must have been enticement or some temptation would have been given. The way the government is issuing orders is in front of everyone. z How are your rela- tions with CM Ge- hlot? I have a personal rela- tionship with CM Ashok Gehlot, he is my friend. I spoke to him by sending my representa- tive before the nomina- tion for the Rajya Sabha elections. Gehlot told my representative that if I had talked earlier, he would have helped me a bit, but now he will not be able to help. It’s a good thing he didn’t keep me in the dark. z MLAs who came from BSP to Congress may not be able to vote RegardingthesixMLAs who came from BSP to Congress, Subhash Chandra said that I have sent a complaint to the Election Commis- sion. MLAs coming from BSP to Congress may not be able to par- ticipate in the voting process itself. The pro- cess by which they merged is wrong. z What would you say on Congress’ horse trading charge? I don’t know who is do- ing horse trading. But who is luring MLAs, everyone knows.
