Mumbai: Chief Min-
ister Uddhav Thack-
eray will launch an
onslaught against po-
litical detractors
while announcing
sops for Aurangabad
city at his public ral-
ly on Wednesday with
an eye on the forth-

leaders. The civic
body has cleared a
Rs207 crore incre-
ment in financing to
sprucing up 224 city
roads, Shiv Sena’s in-
dustries minister
Subhas Desai an-
nounced on Tuesday.
First India was the
first to break the story
of the CM’s proposed
rally in our May 24 is-
sue.
The authorities had
already sanctioned
Rs317 crore for Aurang-
abad city’s roads under
the Smart City project.
The additional outlay

of the Union govern-
ment project, Desai-

Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj. The CM is
also expected to speak
on the issue of renam-
ing Aurangabad, and
also on a similar pend-
ing demand to rename
Osmanabad.
In addition, the CM is
expected to up the ante
against the BJP that is
going all out to wrest an
additional Rajya Sabha
seat from Maharashtra
on June 10, when elec-
tions are scheduled, for
which the Sena has also
fielded an additional
candidate.
Thackeray will dwell
on national as well as
local issues at the Au-

ing in an effort to pillo-
ry the Centre on the
recent displacement of
Kashmiri Pandits--who
belong to the minority

tacks on civilians there.
He is expected to
dwell at length on BJP’s
efforts at horse-trading
to impact the June 10
elections to six Rajya
Sabha seats from Ma-
harashtra, as well as
the elections to the up-
per house of the state
legislature (Vidhan
Parishad) in Maha-

Thackeray is likely to
raise the cause of Hin-

Mumbai: Marathi ac-

sharing an objection-
able post on social

alist Congress Party
(NCP) Chief Sharad
Pawar, has ap-
proached the Bombay
High Court (HC) seek-
ing that the FIR
lodged against her by
Thane police to
quashed and she be
released from jail.
The actor in her peti-
tion filed on Monday
claimed she was being
targeted with an objec-
tive to create a fear in
the minds of people,
and dubbed the FIR
lodged against her as an
“abuse of the process of
law”.
She urged the HC to
quash the FIR, declare
her arrest illegal and a

mental rights, and im-
mediately release her
from jail. The plea is
likely to be heard on
June 10.

Mumbai: Ahead of
the June 10 Rajya
Sabha (RS) elections,
the ruling Shiv Sena
in Maharashtra has
decided to shift its
MLAs from a resort
in suburban Malad to
a five-star hotel in
south Mumbai as
part of a strategy to
ward off poaching, a
senior party leader
said on Tuesday.
All legislators of the
Sena have been sum-
moned to Mumbai and
they will stay together
till the polls on June 10,
he said.
The Sena decided to
corral its MLAs after
accusing the opposition
BJP of horse-trading
and using Central agen-
cies to pressure inde-
pendent MLAs.
We were in 'The Re-
treat' (at Madh island in
northwest Mumbai)
and all our ministers
too were present there.
That was part of our
strategy. We will be
moving to hotel 'The
Trident' (in south Mum-
bai) today, Sena MLA
and party spokesper-
son Sunil Prabhu said.
The Trident is at a
stone's throw from the
Maharashtra Legisla-
tive Assembly where
voting will take place
for the six RS seats.
The Sena has 55
MLAs (one MLA died
due to a heart attack
last month) in the
288-member House.
Chief Minister and
Shiv Sena president Ud-
dhav Thackeray on
Monday met the MLAs
of his party as well as
others supporting it.
After more than two
decades, the state will
witness a contest in
the RS polls as there
are seven candidates
in the fray for six seats.
The Sena has fielded
two candidates -- San-
jay Raut and Sanjay
Pawar -- while the BJP
has nominated Union
minister Piyush Goy-
al, Anil Bonde and
Dhananjay Mahadik.
The NCP (Praful Patel)
and Congress (Imran
Pratapgarhi) have
fielded one candidate
each.
The contest lies for
the sixth seat between
Pawar and Mahadik.
Given its strength, the
BJP has enough votes to
win two seats, while the
Sena, NCP and Con-
gress can win one seat
each.
The Sena, NCP and
Congress have enough
votes to ensure the vic-
tory for the second Sena
candidate.
Mumbai (PTI): The
Enforcement Direc-
torate on Tuesday
opposed the pleas
of former Maha-
rashtra Home Min-
ister Anil Desh-
mukh and minister
Nawab Malik seek-
ing one-day bail to
vote in the June 10
Rajya Sabha elec-
tions. It stated that
prisoners do not
have voting rights
under the Repre-
sentation of the
People (RP) Act.
Deshmukh and
Malik, both National-
ist Congress Party
(NCP) leaders, who
are currently lodged
in jail in connection
with different money
laundering cases,
had sought tempo-
rary bail from a spe-
cial court last week to
vote in the RS polls.
In its reply, the ED
told the special court
that Deshmukh is the
main accused in a
money laundering
case registered
against him. And
also, that he is cur-
rently in judicial cus-
tody after being ar-
rested in November
last year.
“Further, it is per-
tinent to mention
that prisoners do not
have voting rights un-
der the Representa-
tion of People (RP)
Act,” said the probe
agency, adding that,
hence, the said appli-
cation is liable to be
rejected at the very
threshold.
The ED opposed
Malik’s plea on simi-
lar grounds.
In his bail applica-
tion, Deshmukh said,
“Being a standing
MLA, the applicant
(Deshmukh) is a
member of the Elec-
toral College for the
election of members
to the Rajya Sabha.
The applicant is de-
sirous to exercise his
franchise and cast his
vote.”
The matter will be
heard further by the
court on Wednesday

Samajwadi Party questions
MVA’s secular credentials
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Despite
smaller parties and
independents hav-
ing a role in decid-
ing the results of
Rajya Sabha polls,
Samajwadi Party’s
Mumbai unit chief
Abu Asim Azmi on
Tuesday expressed
his displeasure with
the Maha Vikas
Aghadi government
three days prior to
the election.
“In the past two-
and-a-half years, the
Minority Commission
has not been set up,
the Maulana Azad Fi-
nance Corporation,
the Haj committee
have not been estab-
lished. The Urdu
Academy is not func-
tional. The MVA also
promised to give 5%
reservation to Mus-
lims, but the file was
closed,” said a visibly
upset Azmi.
Calling out the state
government for not re-
sponding to attempts
at dialogue by the par-
ty, Azmi said, “We
tried to talk to them,
but the honorable
chief minister has no
time for this. I have
now written to Chief
Minister Uddhav
Thackeray raising
these issues, and I am
waiting for his reply.”
“Are you secular or
are you proud of stri-
dent Hindutva?” he
further asked, ques-
tioning what hap-
pened to the Common
Minimum Programme
agreed upon by the
Shiv Sena, Congress,
NCP and other small-
er constituents.
The timing of Az-
mi’s comments has
raised eyebrows in po-
litical circles. Last
month, the Shiv Sena
and the BJP were en-
gaged in a war of
words claiming that
they were proud of
the Babri Masjid dem-
olition in Ayodhya.
The Sena had claimed
that ‘Shiv sainiks’
played a role in the
demolition.
Incidentally, the Sa-
majwadi Party has
two crucial votes in
MLAs Azmi and Rais
Shaikh. Shiv Sena
tried to placate and
persuade them to sup-
port the MVA. Thack-
eray’s close aide and
Transport Minister
Anil Parab even met
Shaikh. “They should
clarify if this govern-
ment is formed on
secular credentials or
Shiv Sena’s Hindutva
is bigger than the
BJP,” said Shaikh.
Though Shiv Sena
kept mum on the is-
sue, NCP leader Jay-
ant Patil, who had a
meeting with party
chief Sharad Pawar
on the day, said the
MVA was confident
that their fourth can-
didate will be elected.
“We are talking to
independents and
smaller parties. Some
constituents of the
coalition are unhappy
due to different rea-
sons, but the Sama-
jwadi Party has fought
against the BJP in Ut-
tar Pradesh, and that
remains its core value.
So, we are confident
that they will support
the MVA govern-
ment,” Patil said.

Salman Khan denies
receiving threats
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Actor Sal-
man Khan denied
threats from any per-
son, threat calls or
disputes with anyone
in the recent past, in
a statement given to
the police on Tuesday
.
Earlier on Monday,
the Bandra Police reg-

on Monday after a
threat letter was issued
to actor Salman Khan
and his father Salim
Khan.
Mumbai police have
recorded actor Salman

his father Salim Khan’s

More than 200 CCTV

seized by the Mumbai
Police so far.
A total of 10 teams,

district, an official from the forest department said on
Tuesday. The incident that took place around 12.30
am on Monday was captured by the CCTV cameras
installed outside the house. Footage showed the dog
sitting at the entrance, before the leopard caught it
and fled. The forest department has asked villagers to
remain alert while traps are laid to catch the predator.
Nagpur: Blesson Puddu Chako, a 28-year-old civil-

in Maharashtra after failing thrice to clear the Union
Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination,
police said on Tuesday. The Nagpur resident hanged
himself from a ceiling fan using a bed sheet when he
was alone at home on Sunday.

Mumbai: The Bom-
bay High Court on
Tuesday closed all
arguments and re-
served its order on a
plea filed by the Tata
Motors challenging
its disqualification
from the tender
process for 1,400 elec-
tric buses for the Bri-
hanmumbai Electric
Supply and Trans-
port (BEST) Under-
taking.
Tata Motors partici-
pated in the tender pro-
cess, but its bid was
disqualified by the
BEST following a tech-
nical suitability evalu-
ation, the parties had
earlier told the high
court.
The auto major had
approached the high
court last month, chal-
lenging the BEST’s de-
cision to disqualify it
from the tender process
for operating 1,400 elec-
tric buses for the city
.
Tata Motors argued
that its technical bid
was “arbitrarily” re-
jected to favour the
company that won the
tender process.
But, the BEST denied
the allegations and
maintained before the
high court that it had
followed due process in
awarding the tender.
As per the plea filed
by the automobile com-
pany, the BEST had
published an e-tender
notice on February 26
this year. It was for a
two-bid e-tender for the
operation of stage car-
riage services for 1,400
single-decker AC elec-
tric buses for Mumbai
and its suburbs.
Tata Motors had sub-
mitted its technical and
financial bid on April
25, the plea said.
However, on May 06,
the BEST published a
technical suitability
evaluation of the ten-
der and wrongly de-
clared Tata Motors’ bid
as technically non-re-
sponsive , alleging that
the deviation men-
tioned in respect of op-
erating range was not
acceptable.

ing provides bus trans-
port services in Mum-

Earlier, the state gov-

was done because items

The scheme was suc-

in the rest of the state,
said Waghmare, adding
that once the initiative
gained traction, its am-

As both these
schemes received a good
response, farmers’ pro-

These organizations

SURVIVES FOR
NOW, BUT FOR
HOW LONG
ritish Prime Minis-
ter Boris Johnson
survived a no-confi-
dence vote against
his government but
the top Brexit votary found his
support within the Conservative
Party dwindling. In the vote
which Johnson won 211-148 only
59 percent of his MPs voted in
his favour. Prime Minister John-
son had swept the 2019 election
riding on the Brexit wave but
alcohol parties which he and his
staff hosted at the prime minis-
ter’s Downing Street residence
during the pandemic dented his
image. Scotland Yard found him
guilty of hosting his birthday
party in breach of Covid rules.
He admitted to having paid a
fine for the breach for which he
publicly apologised.
After winning the no-confi-
dence vote Boris Johnson called
it “Conclusive. Decisive result.”
Going by the discontent among
Tories it is anything but that. He
may not survive in office for
long. Conservative lawmakers
fear that the 57-year-old prime
minister’s authority has been
eroded and cite rising prices and
looming recession as his inabil-
ity to govern.

far, are not happy with the

On the face of it the action
is not too harsh as suspen-
sions and expulsions can al-
ways be revoked but the trolls
find even a soft action against
a karykarta inexplicable.
They view it as a Hindu gov-
ernment succumbing to pres-
sure from Islamic countries.
And that hurts the Hindu
pride, stories of which have
been instilled in the minds of
trolls since 2014. As #Shame-
OnBJP# began trending on
Twitter, the BJP must have
realised the dangers of creat-
ing a Frankenstein monster.
Action against a “young
Hindu leader” was the least
expected and the BJP must
be worried about how to
douse the anger at home
without causing uproar
abroad. Interestingly, one
Twitter handle went to the
extent of imagining Yogi
Adityanath as Prime Minis-
ter at this juncture. “Dear
Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji

Sadly, the BJP leadership
did not give its troll army

trolls must bear in mind that
India has not apologized for
BJP spokespersons’ utter-
ances so far.

Performers will be in a ‘trance’,
we need to understand their pain
hisweek,Ishiftfromtheusual
politicaldiscussionandanaly-
sis and would like to concen-
trateonthelittlethingswhich
we usually don’t do on time
and think all will be fine… but
it doesn’t happen that way!
Every incident should
serve as an eye opener and
we should actually learn
from the lapses and see that
we NEVER repeat our act to
botch up things.
Almost seven days after
the untimely demise of KK in
Kolkata, the air is still heavy
and everyone feels that there
was so much that could be
done to try and save him.
Performers will be per-
formers… they remain in a
trance and their ultimate aim
is to give their best shot and
there are several instances
when they (performers) be
singers or players have not
cared about their health but
have gone that extra mile to
give their best!
Even on that fateful night
when the disturbing videos
which have gone viral have
shown that KK was profusely
sweating and had even asked
the organisers to switch off
some lights as he was “actu-
ally feeling the heat”, but like
a true performer, he never
called it quits.
It is actually the people as-
sociated with these true pro-
fessionals who should treat
them delicately and try to be
more understanding as these
stars remain in a trance
while they perform.
SAMPLE THIS…
In May 2002, when India took
on West Indies in the fourth
Test of a series… on the third
day of the Test, Anil Kumble
while batting was struck
hard under his left jaw, rat-
tling him and Team India.
However, after being attend-
ed to by team physio Andrew
Leipus, Kumble spat blood
but strapped his helmet back
and took guard again!
Mervyn Dillon sent in a
few more short ones and
Kumble who was already
writhing in pain fended one
to Chanderpaul.
Kumble was rushed to the
hospital but the first X-ray
revealed nothing. The next
morning when he told Leipus
that the pain was too much.
Another X-ray revealed that
the jaw had a crack and was
moving on its own!
Kumble didn’t want to get
the surgery done in the West
Indies and was set to leave for
India in the evening.
With Kumble gone and In-
dia hamstrung in the bowling
department, captain Sourav
Ganguly decided to bat on.
Finally, when West Indies
were put in to bat, there was
still some juice in the pitch.
With Kumble sidelined,
Sachin Tendulkar was forced
to wage the battle.
That’s when Kumble
shocked the entire cricketing
world!
Kumble got physio Andrew
Leipus to bandage his face
and turned up to do his duty
for India! Kumble bowled in
excruciating pain.
But then Kumble being
Kumble… he flummoxed
Lara in his fourth over when
hetrappedtheLegendplumb.
By then, Kumble’s face was
swelling. Later when asked
why he decided to come back,
he said: “I didn’t want to sit
around.”
The all-time great Viv
Richards had said, “It was
one of the bravest things I’ve
seen on the field of play
.”
We must not just appreci-
ate, laud, hail and salute such
deeds but also understand
that after all they are humans
and need care too.
That crucial hour on that
fateful day after the show was
wasted, many felt. All of us
got to see how fatigued KK
looked when he was being
rushed out after the show.
Doctors and medical ex-
perts have come down heavily
on the fact that while he could
have been wheeled out of the
auditorium,whywashemade
to walk briskly after such a
hectic show. And surprising-
ly, despite having quite a few
hospitals in the vicinity
, why
didn’t his support team and
the organisers insist on giv-
ing him medical care.
We need to give performers
that conducive atmosphere,
the medical attention and full
care waiting in tow and an
understanding support staff.
Spectators and audience
sometimes fail to realise that
the performers can falter and
they need to be given that
space and here the organisers
should play a huge role in fa-
cilitating the performer… the
organisers must realise that
by simply booking a show
they can’t force or ask a per-
son to perform in conditions
with three times more the
crowd and from time to time
they also need to check if the
performer is comfortable.
Today, KK is not with us,
but have we learnt anything
from this… are we better or-
ganisers or better specta-
tors… or are we still that sav-
age lot asking for more!

India may ramp up
coal output: Moody’s

ing India, will look to
ramp up the output
of domestic coal to
strengthen energy
security and lessen
dependence on the
import of fossil fu-

Tuesday
.
The government
has recently mandat-
ed CIL to import coal
as an emergency
measure to avoid a
shortage of coal for
the country’s power

“Large coal-im-
porting countries
such as China and

coal production to
enhance energy se-
curity and reduce re-
liance on coal im-
ports. Chinese coal
production surged 15
per cent in March
2022,” Moody’s Inves-

Coal India Ltd tar-
gets to increase pro-
duction by around
12% in the current
year, the agency said.
The state-owned
firm accounts for
over 80% of India’s
coal output.
Moody’s Investors
Service further said
that metallurgical
and thermal coal
prices will remain
high, but below re-
cent peaks.

First India Bureau
Mumbai: After the

the Scheduled Castes,
Scheduled Tribes and

seats for women for

municipal elections,
it received 232 sug-
gestions and objec-
tions, officials said
on Tuesday.
Monday was the last
day for citizens to sub-
mit their suggestions
and objections in the
matter.
According to the of-
ficials, many people in
their suggestions/ob-
jections expressed the
view that reservation
of some civic wards for
women was “injustice”
to male candidates.
There were also de-
mands for changing
the reservation of
some wards that are
reserved for the gen-
eral category women
in the lottery draw.
As per the lottery
drawn last week with-
out the Other Backwad
Class (OBC) quota on
the directions of the
State Election Com-
mission (SEC), 118 of
the total 236 seats in
the Brihanmumbai

tion (BMC) will be re-
served for women.
Eight of these seats
are reserved for
Scheduled Caste can-
didates, one seat for
Scheduled Tribes can-
didates and 109 for the
general category.
Citizens were given
time from June 1 and 6
for submitting sugges-
tions and objections
about the ward reser-
vation.
After compilation of
all the suggestions and
objections, the final
ward reservations list
will be published in
the gazette on June 13,
as per the lottery
schedule earlier re-
leased by the SEC.
The schedule for
elections to the BMC
and other municipal
corporations is yet to
be announced.
According to civic
officials, there is also a
demand for reserving
a civic ward for gen-
eral category (instead
of the Scheduled
Castes), where there
are around 5,000 SC
community members
out of the population
of 54,000.
There is also a de-
mand for changing the
reservation of a ward,
having over 7,000 SC
community members
and has been reserved
for the general catego-
ry in the lottery draw,
to Scheduled Castes.
According to civic of-

team will have 500
jawans and officers
with 15 divers,” Vel-
rasu added.
According to the
civic body
, there are at
least 10 to 12 days dur-
ing each monsoon
when daily rainfall
crosses 120 to 150 mm
with 60 mm per hour
for a few hours. There-
fore, BMC has tackled
73% of flooding spots.
“If rainfall occurs
at the speed of 60 to 70
mm per hour, Mum-
bai will not get flood-
ed. If it rains more
than this, the city will
witness waterlogging.
But the water will
drain out in less
time,” stated Velrasu.
Mumbai: The India
Meteorological De-
partment (IMD) has
set June 11 as the
date of the onset of
monsoon in Mum-
bai, and has stated
that conditions
have improved over
the city. The weath-
erman, however,
said that the mon-
soon will first ar-
rive in Konkan and
Goa regions.
The monsoon has
already arrived in
Karnataka and is ex-
pected to intensify
over Mumbai and the
surrounding areas
after June 15.
Speaking to the
media, an official
from the IMD Mum-
bai said, “The mon-
soon has arrived in
Karwar, Karnataka,
and we are currently
monitoring the situa-
tion. We'll have to
wait until it reaches
the south Konkan
and Goa before head-
ing to Mumbai.”
Skymet Weather's
Mahesh Palawat con-
firmed that pre-mon-
soon activities have
begun. However,
rains will not be as
heavy as a typical
monsoon in the be-
ginning, he said,
adding that while ac-
tivity in Kerala is
currently low, north-
east India is experi-
encing heavy rain-
fall.
Palawat also said,
“Mumbai, too, will
gradually experience
a good rainfall post
mid June.”

After creating implausible and
immortal artworks, the genius of his
time Leonardo Da Vinci has become
a never-dying part of human lives
eonardo’sex-
traordinary
art involves
the greatest
painting of
all times
‘Monalisa’to
the beautiful master-
piece ‘Last Supper’,
these artworks have
not only gained popu-
larity based on their
beauty but have given
ideas for flying vehi-
cles and ground-
breaking research on
optics and perspec-
tive. People were so
fascinated by his art-
works that they start-
ed comparing him
with aliens. They had
started raising ques-
tions like ‘Leonardo
Da Vinci’s mysteri-
ous disappearance be
evidence of an alien
encounter?’ They be-
lieved that his mas-
terfulpaintings,high-
ly technical hand-
drawn sketches and
private journals re-
veal knowledge of
otherworldly technol-
ogy and extraterres-
trial beings. Because
of his visionary arts,
which were beyond
time and science,
somecalledhimama-
gician, some de-
scribed him as God!
Let’s take a look at
what science has to
say about geniuses.
When National Geo-
graphic caught Isaac-
son by his phone at
his home in Washing-
ton, DC, he explained
why Monalisa’s grin
represents the con-
clusion of a lifetime
of investigation, why
Michelangelo and
Leonardocouldn’ttol-
erate each other, and
whyLeonardo’sdefin-
ing attribute was cu-
riosity
.
We have to start
with the most famous
and mysterious smile
in the world. Where
does the “Monalisa”
fitintoLeonardo’slife
and work—and how
has she managed to
enchant us for 500
years? The Monali-
sa’s beautiful smile is
the fruition of a life-
time spent studying
art, science, optics
and every other pos-
sible field to that he
could apply his curi-
osity, including un-
derstanding the uni-
verse and how we fit
into it. Leonardo
spent many pages in
his notebook scruti-
nising the human
face to figure out eve-
ry muscle and nerve
that touched the lips.
One finite example
wasseeninthosepag-
es, you see a faint
sketch at the top of
the beginning of the
smile of the Monali-
sa. Leonardo kept
that painting from
1503, from the time it
starts to his deathbed
in 1519, trying to get
every aspect exactly
right in layer after
layer! During that pe-
riod, he dissected the
human eye on cadav-
ers and was able to
understand that the
centre of the retina
sees detail, but the
edges see shadows
and shape better.
Leonardo tried ex-
plaininghisemotions
in that favourite
painting of his, if we
look straight at the
Monalisa’s smile, the
corners of her lips
turn downward
slightly, but shadows
and light make it
appear like it’s turn-
ing upwards. The
beauty of the paint-
ing is when you move
your eyes across her
face the smile will
flicker on and off. He
had tried his magical
hands to depict the
inner feeling the lady
is holding. Not only
this, he carried his
notebook around as
he walked through
Florence or Milan
and always sketched
people’s expressions
and emotions and
tried to relate that to
the inner feelings
they had and a clear
picture can be seen in
his “The Last Sup-
per.” Even after at-
tending to perfection
in portraying emo-
tionshisunbelievable
“Monalisa” is still the
culmination because
the emotions that
she’s expressing, just
like her smile, are a
bit elusive. Every
time you look at her it
seems slightly differ-
ent. It tries to depict
the inner emotions.
His ‘the most spell-
binding narrative
painting in history -
The Last Supper’
takeusinsideitscrea-
tion and explain why
it is such a ultimate
workof art.TheDuke
of Milanaskedhimto
paint it on the wall of
a dining hall of a
monastery
. Unlike
other depictions of
“The Last Supper,”
Leonardo doesn’t just
captureamomentbut
he understood that
there is no such thing
as a disconnected in-
stant of time. He re-
written the trance of
motion in the paint-
ing and created ‘The
Last Supper’ a dra-
matic narrative. As
wewalkinthedoorof
vision,weseeChrist’s
hand then, going up
the arm, stare at his
face. He’s saying,
“One of you shall be-
tray me.” As our eyes
move across the pic-
ture, we see that
soundalmostrippling
outward as each of
thegroupsof apostles
reacts. In the Book of
Matthew, Jesus says
that the one who
dipped his hand into
the bowl with him is
the “betrayer”. Also
Vinci had those at the
table sitting in a pat-
tern:33133,mightbea
numerological mes-
sage and considering
this, Vinci ignored
convention in his
creation by not plac-
inghalosaboveJesus.
Many art historians
believe that Vinci
believed in nature,
not in God.

WEAVER OF IMPLAUSIBLE
lowers are without a
doubt one of the most
photographed subjects.
It isn’t hard to see why,
we are surrounded by
them, and their wide
range of colours,
shapes, and sizes means that
you rarely have to venture far
before you find one that catches
your eye. Unfortunately, many
people make fundamental er-
rors when photographing flow-
ers. This can result in shots that
lack “punch”, appearing much
less interesting and vibrant
than they did in person. There
are several principles that you
can follow to give your flower
photos more impact, capturing
lots of detail and making them
engaging to the viewer. By
learning these guidelines, you’ll
be able to spot an underwhelm-
ing photo before you capture it,
and reframe the shot in a more
interesting way
.
POSITION FLOWERS INTO
YOUR FOREGROUND
One of the easiest, most impact-
ful ways to add fresh flowers into
your images is to add them to the
foreground of your image. Add-
ing flowers into the foreground
adds another dimension to the
photo you’re creating. Doing this
will blur the flowers, yet keep the
person you’re photographing in
focus. Focus on the subject’s
eyes, and voilà, your camera will
do the rest.
USE FLOWERS TO CONCEAL
PART OF YOUR SUBJECT’S FACE
Rather than concealing part of
the frame, try using a flower to
conceal part of your subject’s
face. Whether it’s your model
holding the stem of a beautiful
peony covering one of her
eyes, or carefully placing dai-
sies on the back of your mod-
el’s head, try using a flower to
leave something to be discov-
ered in your image.
FLOWER POWER
MEETS WILD CHILD
If you’re shooting with a model
that has long hair, you’re in
luck! This can be a really beauti-
ful way to create festival-vibe
photos. Using small flowers or
petals like baby’s breath, dai-
sies, or elderflower take the
flowers and start pulling the
fluff into your hand until it’s
in tiny pieces. Once it’s in
tiny pieces, depending on the
size, you can either place the
flowers carefully in your
model’s hair or gently drop
them on top of your model’s
hair. One look is more staged,
and one more natural, best
suited for wildflowers.
CREATING FLORAL BACKDROPS
IN STUDIO SPACES
If you have a ton of flowers, you
can easily create a flower wall
to provide an impactful back-
drop for your image. But, if you
don’t have the time or the ener-
gy to create a full floral back-
drop, you can carefully place
flowers on the ground and have
your subject lie in them.
GET INSPIRED BY ART
FOR CREATIVE FLOWER
PORTRAIT PROJECTS
Pick a flower that inspires you,
or one that can be easily found
in your geographical area, and
create a series of portraits
around that flower. You’d be
surprised by how creative you
can get when you open your im-
agination.

he upcoming Bol-

surely be a roller
coaster of laugh-
ter and fun and
the cast of the
movie confirms why.
Talking to First India
Filmy, the main leads
Abhimanyu Dassani
and Shirley Setia and
director Sabbir Khan
give an insight into the
fun equation they share
as Team Nikamma.
Shirley Setia opened
up about her experi-
ence working on her
debut film, calling it a
dream project. “I feel
blessed to have worked
with Sabbir sir and Ab-
himanyu. To start my
Bollywood career with
such a film is like a
dream that has come
true because of Sabbir
sir and Sony
. I had tried
before this but maybe
others did not believe in
me as much as he did,”
she said.
Talking about casting
Abhimanyu, Sabbir
Khan revealed, “I had
just watched the trailer
of his first film and
loved it. I then met him
like I meet anyone for a
business meeting and I
formed such a connec-
tion with him that I had
a feeling he was here to
stay. I love two things
about him: one that he
has an innocent face
and second that he can
portray intensity when-
ever required.”
On how he chooses
such entertaining but
different films as pro-
jects, Abhimanyu
stated, “Doing dif-
ferent types of pro-
jects was a con-
sciousdecision.Ihave
previously said that just
to feel safe we try to put
othersinboxes.So,every

completely different.”
The actor added, “Ni-
kamma is an unconven-
tional commercial film.
The soul of the film lies
in family values. So, it
is a blend of a new GenZ
lifestyle with Indian
traditional values.”
To talk about her
chemistry with co-star
Abhimanyu, Shirley re-
vealed that he was very
caring and protective.
She said, “I remember
we were shooting in a
Lucknow Mela where
he was very protective
and caring. He made
me feel so comfortable.”
Sabbir also joked
about how Shirley’s
fans protested, demand-
ing them to make the
actress sing for the film.
“Her voice obviously
is extraordinary but
I had so much pres-
sure from everyone
that I had to request
her to sing a song for
the film,” he joked.
About his immense
physical transforma-
tion for Meenakshi
Sundareshwar and Ni-
kamma, Abhimanyu
disclosed, “I shed
10 kgs for
Meenakshi
and I
h a d
put on
7 kgs for
Nikamma.
But Sabbir sir
gave me a chance
to do so many action
scenes that I had to
take up the opportunity
no matter what.”
The team also ap-
plauded Shirley for her
dedication and recalled
how she despite having
a high fever shot for
three days during a
song sequence.
Director Sabbir
Khan further spoke
about working with a
fresh pair in Nikamma,
“I felt that they both
had an honesty right
from the beginning. I
never felt that they
would back down from
hard work.”
Remembering the
moment his mother, ac-
tress Bhagyashree got
emotional at the movie
trailer, Abhimanyu
stated, “It is a moment
for life.”

The civic body has cleared a Rs207 crore incre- ment in financing to sprucing up 224 city roads, Shiv Sena’s in- dustries minister Subhas Desai an- nounced on Tuesday. First India was the first to break the story of the CM’s proposed rally in our May 24 is- sue. The authorities had already sanctioned Rs317 crore for Aurang- abad city’s roads under the Smart City project. The additional outlay has included 224 more roads under the ambit of the Union govern- ment project, Desai- -who is also the guardi- an minister of the dis- trict--announced. Thackeray will ad- dress the public meet- ing at the historic ground from where his father and founder of the Shiv Sena Balasa- heb Thackeray had first demanded that the city be renamed Sambhaji- nagar, after the Mara- tha king and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He is expected to dwell at length on BJP’s efforts at horse-trading to impact the June 10 elections to six Rajya Sabha seats from Ma- harashtra, as well as the elections to the up- per house of the state legislature (Vidhan Parishad) in Maha- rashtra. Thackeray is likely to raise the cause of Hin- dutva at his public rally to neutralize ongoing efforts by the BJP to paint his alliance with the NCP and Congress as a move towards secu- larism. • 2. NEWS MUMBAI | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2022 02 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epapers/mumbai I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia First India Bureau Mumbai: Marathi ac- tor Ketaki Chitale, who was arrested last month for allegedly sharing an objection- able post on social media about Nation- alist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar, has ap- proached the Bombay High Court (HC) seek- ing that the FIR lodged against her by Thane police to quashed and she be released from jail. The actor in her peti- tion filed on Monday claimed she was being targeted with an objec- tive to create a fear in the minds of people, and dubbed the FIR lodged against her as an “abuse of the process of law”. She urged the HC to quash the FIR, declare her arrest illegal and a violation of her funda- mental rights, and im- mediately release her from jail. The plea is likely to be heard on June 10. Chitale (29) was ar- rested by the Thane po- lice on May 14 over the post she allegedly shared on her Facebook page, which was in verse form and purport- edly written by some- one else. It contained phrases like hell is wait- ing and you hate Brah- mins, allegedly refer- ring to Pawar, whose party shares power in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena Congress. All legislators of the Sena have been sum- moned to Mumbai and they will stay together till the polls on June 10, he said. The Sena decided to corral its MLAs after accusing the opposition BJP of horse-trading and using Central agen- cies to pressure inde- pendent MLAs. We were in 'The Re- treat' (at Madh island in northwest Mumbai) and all our ministers too were present there. That was part of our strategy. We will be moving to hotel 'The Trident' (in south Mum- bai) today, Sena MLA and party spokesper- son Sunil Prabhu said. The Trident is at a stone's throw from the Maharashtra Legisla- tive Assembly where voting will take place for the six RS seats. The Sena has 55 MLAs (one MLA died due to a heart attack last month) in the 288-member House. Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Ud- dhav Thackeray on Monday met the MLAs of his party as well as others supporting it. After more than two decades, the state will witness a contest in the RS polls as there are seven candidates in the fray for six seats. The Sena has fielded two candidates -- San- jay Raut and Sanjay Pawar -- while the BJP has nominated Union minister Piyush Goy- al, Anil Bonde and Dhananjay Mahadik. The NCP (Praful Patel) and Congress (Imran Pratapgarhi) have fielded one candidate each. The contest lies for the sixth seat between Pawar and Mahadik. Given its strength, the BJP has enough votes to win two seats, while the Sena, NCP and Con- gress can win one seat each. The Sena, NCP and Congress have enough votes to ensure the vic- tory for the second Sena candidate. Mumbai (PTI): The Enforcement Direc- torate on Tuesday opposed the pleas of former Maha- rashtra Home Min- ister Anil Desh- mukh and minister Nawab Malik seek- ing one-day bail to vote in the June 10 Rajya Sabha elec- tions. It stated that prisoners do not have voting rights under the Repre- sentation of the People (RP) Act. Deshmukh and Malik, both National- ist Congress Party (NCP) leaders, who are currently lodged in jail in connection with different money laundering cases, had sought tempo- rary bail from a spe- cial court last week to vote in the RS polls. In its reply, the ED told the special court that Deshmukh is the main accused in a money laundering case registered against him. And also, that he is cur- rently in judicial cus- tody after being ar- rested in November last year. “Further, it is per- tinent to mention that prisoners do not have voting rights un- der the Representa- tion of People (RP) Act,” said the probe agency, adding that, hence, the said appli- cation is liable to be rejected at the very threshold. The ED opposed Malik’s plea on simi- lar grounds. In his bail applica- tion, Deshmukh said, “Being a standing MLA, the applicant (Deshmukh) is a member of the Elec- toral College for the election of members to the Rajya Sabha. The applicant is de- sirous to exercise his franchise and cast his vote.” The matter will be heard further by the court on Wednesday . The Urdu Academy is not func- tional. The MVA also promised to give 5% reservation to Mus- lims, but the file was closed,” said a visibly upset Azmi. Calling out the state government for not re- sponding to attempts at dialogue by the par- ty, Azmi said, “We tried to talk to them, but the honorable chief minister has no time for this. I have now written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray raising these issues, and I am waiting for his reply.” “Are you secular or are you proud of stri- dent Hindutva?” he further asked, ques- tioning what hap- pened to the Common Minimum Programme agreed upon by the Shiv Sena, Congress, NCP and other small- er constituents. The timing of Az- mi’s comments has raised eyebrows in po- litical circles. Last month, the Shiv Sena and the BJP were en- gaged in a war of words claiming that they were proud of the Babri Masjid dem- olition in Ayodhya. The Sena had claimed that ‘Shiv sainiks’ played a role in the demolition. Incidentally, the Sa- majwadi Party has two crucial votes in MLAs Azmi and Rais Shaikh. Shiv Sena tried to placate and persuade them to sup- port the MVA. Thack- eray’s close aide and Transport Minister Anil Parab even met Shaikh. “They should clarify if this govern- ment is formed on secular credentials or Shiv Sena’s Hindutva is bigger than the BJP,” said Shaikh. Though Shiv Sena kept mum on the is- sue, NCP leader Jay- ant Patil, who had a meeting with party chief Sharad Pawar on the day, said the MVA was confident that their fourth can- didate will be elected. “We are talking to independents and smaller parties. Some constituents of the coalition are unhappy due to different rea- sons, but the Sama- jwadi Party has fought against the BJP in Ut- tar Pradesh, and that remains its core value. So, we are confident that they will support the MVA govern- ment,” Patil said. RAJYA SABHA POLLS Mumbai unit chief Abu Asim Azmi calls out CM Thackeray for not responding to requests for dialogue In the past two-and- a-half years, the Mi- nority Commission has not been set up, the Maulana Azad Fi- nance Corporation, the Haj committee have not been estab- lished. We tried to talk to them, but the honorable chief min- ister had no time for this. I have now writ- ten to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray raising these issues, and I am waiting for his reply. -Abu Asim Azmi, Mumbai chief, Samajwadi Party. QUESTIONABLE JUDGEMENT? ‘MVA leaders should contact us if they want support for RS’ Salman Khan denies receiving threats First India Bureau Mumbai: Actor Sal- man Khan denied threats from any per- son, threat calls or disputes with anyone in the recent past, in a statement given to the police on Tuesday . Earlier on Monday, the Bandra Police reg- istered a case against an unidentified person on Monday after a threat letter was issued to actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan. Mumbai police have recorded actor Salman Khan’s statement and his father Salim Khan’s statements in the case. More than 200 CCTV footage have been seized by the Mumbai Police so far. A total of 10 teams, including the Crime Branch and the local police, are involved in the investigation of the Salman case. Delhi police had questioned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the threat letter sent to the filmstar and his father. The gangster is lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. The letter in ques- tion said that both Khan and his father would meet the same fate as slain singer Sid- hu Moose Wala, who was killed by gunmen last month. First India Bureau Aurangabad: All In- dia Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday claimed no one from the ruling Maha Vi- kas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maha- rashtra had contact- ed them for support in the upcoming elec- tions to six Rajya Sabha seats from the state. “If they want our support, they should contact us,” Owaisi told reporters in Nanded. The AIMIM party has two members in the 288-member Maharash- tra Assembly, which forms the Electoral Col- lege for the Rajya Sab- ha polls, scheduled for June 10. After more than two decades, the state will witness a contest in the Rajya Sabha polls, as there are seven candi- dates in the fray for six seats. The Shiv Sena has fielded two candidates, its MVA allies National- ist Congress party (NCP) and Congress have nominated one candidate each, while the opposition Bharati- ya Janata Party (BJP) has put up three candi- dates. The AIMIM held a meeting in Nanded on Monday, but the party did not come up with any decision on sup- port to the MVA or the BJP. On Tuesday, Owaisi said, “No one from the MVA has contacted us or our MLAs in Maha- rashtra. If they want our support, they should contact us” “If they do not want our support, it is ok. We are talking to our MLAs. We will make a decision in a day or two,” he added. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MLC Ambadas Danve said MVA lead- ers will take a decision on Owaisi’s proposal. READ crucial crucial Maharashtra Maharashtra First India Bureau Mumbai: The Bom- bay High Court on Tuesday closed all arguments and re- served its order on a plea filed by the Tata Motors challenging its disqualification from the tender process for 1,400 elec- tric buses for the Bri- hanmumbai Electric Supply and Trans- port (BEST) Under- taking. Tata Motors partici- pated in the tender pro- cess, but its bid was disqualified by the BEST following a tech- nical suitability evalu- ation, the parties had earlier told the high court. The auto major had approached the high court last month, chal- lenging the BEST’s de- cision to disqualify it from the tender process for operating 1,400 elec- tric buses for the city . Tata Motors argued that its technical bid was “arbitrarily” re- jected to favour the company that won the tender process. But, the BEST denied the allegations and maintained before the high court that it had followed due process in awarding the tender. As per the plea filed by the automobile com- pany, the BEST had published an e-tender notice on February 26 this year. It was for a two-bid e-tender for the operation of stage car- riage services for 1,400 single-decker AC elec- tric buses for Mumbai and its suburbs. Tata Motors had sub- mitted its technical and financial bid on April 25, the plea said. However, on May 06, the BEST published a technical suitability evaluation of the ten- der and wrongly de- clared Tata Motors’ bid as technically non-re- sponsive , alleging that the deviation men- tioned in respect of op- erating range was not acceptable. The BEST Undertak- ing provides bus trans- port services in Mum- bai and in neighbour- ing Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mira Bhay- andar areas. TOP TWEETS BORIS JOHNSON SURVIVES FOR NOW, BUT FOR HOW LONG ritish Prime Minis- ter Boris Johnson survived a no-confi- dence vote against his government but the top Brexit votary found his support within the Conservative Party dwindling. In the vote which Johnson won 211-148 only 59 percent of his MPs voted in his favour. Prime Minister John- son had swept the 2019 election riding on the Brexit wave but alcohol parties which he and his staff hosted at the prime minis- ter’s Downing Street residence during the pandemic dented his image. Scotland Yard found him guilty of hosting his birthday party in breach of Covid rules. He admitted to having paid a fine for the breach for which he publicly apologised. After winning the no-confi- dence vote Boris Johnson called it “Conclusive. Decisive result.” Going by the discontent among Tories it is anything but that. He may not survive in office for long. Conservative lawmakers fear that the 57-year-old prime minister’s authority has been eroded and cite rising prices and looming recession as his inabil- ity to govern. B ith more Muslim countries, 15 of them, expressing their anger over the BJP “fringe” elements’ remarks on Proph- et Muhammad, the ruling party at the Centre finds it- self in a spot. The govern- ment may diplomatically manage the huge backlash, the first of its kind against the BJP, the challenge from within will be harder to han- dle. The fringe elements, who have had an unbridled run so far, are not happy with the suspension of spokesperson Nupur Sharma and the expul- sionof NaveenKumarJindal. On the face of it the action is not too harsh as suspen- sions and expulsions can al- ways be revoked but the trolls find even a soft action against a karykarta inexplicable. They view it as a Hindu gov- ernment succumbing to pres- sure from Islamic countries. And that hurts the Hindu pride, stories of which have been instilled in the minds of trolls since 2014. As #Shame- OnBJP# began trending on Twitter, the BJP must have realised the dangers of creat- ing a Frankenstein monster. Action against a “young Hindu leader” was the least expected and the BJP must be worried about how to douse the anger at home without causing uproar abroad. Interestingly, one Twitter handle went to the extent of imagining Yogi Adityanath as Prime Minis- ter at this juncture. “Dear Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji as Prime Minister of India.” Sadly, the BJP leadership did not give its troll army any lessons in international relations and why the Gulf Cooperation Council’s pro- tests cannot be ignored. The trolls must bear in mind that India has not apologized for BJP spokespersons’ utter- ances so far. TROLL ARMY STANDS BY NUPUR SHARMA Action against a “young Hindu leader” was the least expected and the BJP must be worried about how to douse the anger at home without causing uproar abroad. Interestingly, one Twitter handle went to the extent of imagining Yogi Adityanath as Prime Minister at this juncture. “Dear Hindus, just imagine Yogi Ji as Prime Minister of India” W Performers will be in a ‘trance’, we need to understand their pain hisweek,Ishiftfromtheusual politicaldiscussionandanaly- sis and would like to concen- trateonthelittlethingswhich we usually don’t do on time and think all will be fine… but it doesn’t happen that way! Every incident should serve as an eye opener and we should actually learn from the lapses and see that we NEVER repeat our act to botch up things. Almost seven days after the untimely demise of KK in Kolkata, the air is still heavy and everyone feels that there was so much that could be done to try and save him. Performers will be per- formers… they remain in a trance and their ultimate aim is to give their best shot and there are several instances when they (performers) be singers or players have not cared about their health but have gone that extra mile to give their best! Even on that fateful night when the disturbing videos which have gone viral have shown that KK was profusely sweating and had even asked the organisers to switch off some lights as he was “actu- ally feeling the heat”, but like a true performer, he never called it quits. It is actually the people as- sociated with these true pro- fessionals who should treat them delicately and try to be more understanding as these stars remain in a trance while they perform. SAMPLE THIS… In May 2002, when India took on West Indies in the fourth Test of a series… on the third day of the Test, Anil Kumble while batting was struck hard under his left jaw, rat- tling him and Team India. However, after being attend- ed to by team physio Andrew Leipus, Kumble spat blood but strapped his helmet back and took guard again! Mervyn Dillon sent in a few more short ones and Kumble who was already writhing in pain fended one to Chanderpaul. Kumble was rushed to the hospital but the first X-ray revealed nothing. The next morning when he told Leipus that the pain was too much. Another X-ray revealed that the jaw had a crack and was moving on its own! Kumble didn’t want to get the surgery done in the West Indies and was set to leave for India in the evening. With Kumble gone and In- dia hamstrung in the bowling department, captain Sourav Ganguly decided to bat on. Finally, when West Indies were put in to bat, there was still some juice in the pitch. With Kumble sidelined, Sachin Tendulkar was forced to wage the battle. That’s when Kumble shocked the entire cricketing world! Kumble got physio Andrew Leipus to bandage his face and turned up to do his duty for India! Kumble bowled in excruciating pain. But then Kumble being Kumble… he flummoxed Lara in his fourth over when hetrappedtheLegendplumb. By then, Kumble’s face was swelling. Later when asked why he decided to come back, he said: “I didn’t want to sit around.” The all-time great Viv Richards had said, “It was one of the bravest things I’ve seen on the field of play .” We must not just appreci- ate, laud, hail and salute such deeds but also understand that after all they are humans and need care too. That crucial hour on that fateful day after the show was wasted, many felt. All of us got to see how fatigued KK looked when he was being rushed out after the show. Doctors and medical ex- perts have come down heavily on the fact that while he could have been wheeled out of the auditorium, whywashemade to walk briskly after such a hectic show. And surprising- ly, despite having quite a few hospitals in the vicinity , why didn’t his support team and the organisers insist on giv- ing him medical care. We need to give performers that conducive atmosphere, the medical attention and full care waiting in tow and an understanding support staff. Spectators and audience sometimes fail to realise that the performers can falter and they need to be given that space and here the organisers should play a huge role in fa- cilitating the performer… the organisers must realise that by simply booking a show they can’t force or ask a per- son to perform in conditions with three times more the crowd and from time to time they also need to check if the performer is comfortable. Today, KK is not with us, but have we learnt anything from this… are we better or- ganisers or better specta- tors… or are we still that sav- age lot asking for more! THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL T In May 2002, when India took on West Indies in the fourth Test of a series… on the third day of the Test, Anil Kumble while batting was struck hard under his left jaw, rattling him and Team India. • 11. After creating implausible and immortal artworks, the genius of his time Leonardo Da Vinci has become a never-dying part of human lives eonardo’sex- traordinary art involves the greatest painting of all times ‘Monalisa’to the beautiful master- piece ‘Last Supper’, these artworks have not only gained popu- larity based on their beauty but have given ideas for flying vehi- cles and ground- breaking research on optics and perspec- tive. People were so fascinated by his art- works that they start- ed comparing him with aliens. They had started raising ques- tions like ‘Leonardo Da Vinci’s mysteri- ous disappearance be evidence of an alien encounter?’ They be- lieved that his mas- terfulpaintings,high- ly technical hand- drawn sketches and private journals re- veal knowledge of otherworldly technol- ogy and extraterres- trial beings. Because of his visionary arts, which were beyond time and science, somecalledhimama- gician, some de- scribed him as God! Let’s take a look at what science has to say about geniuses. When National Geo- graphic caught Isaac- son by his phone at his home in Washing- ton, DC, he explained why Monalisa’s grin represents the con- clusion of a lifetime of investigation, why Michelangelo and Leonardocouldn’ttol- erate each other, and whyLeonardo’sdefin- ing attribute was cu- riosity . We have to start with the most famous and mysterious smile in the world. Where does the “Monalisa” fitintoLeonardo’slife and work—and how has she managed to enchant us for 500 years? The Monali- sa’s beautiful smile is the fruition of a life- time spent studying art, science, optics and every other pos- sible field to that he could apply his curi- osity, including un- derstanding the uni- verse and how we fit into it. Leonardo spent many pages in his notebook scruti- nising the human face to figure out eve- ry muscle and nerve that touched the lips. One finite example wasseeninthosepag- es, you see a faint sketch at the top of the beginning of the smile of the Monali- sa. Leonardo kept that painting from 1503, from the time it starts to his deathbed in 1519, trying to get every aspect exactly right in layer after layer! During that pe- riod, he dissected the human eye on cadav- ers and was able to understand that the centre of the retina sees detail, but the edges see shadows and shape better. Leonardo tried ex- plaininghisemotions in that favourite painting of his, if we look straight at the Monalisa’s smile, the corners of her lips turn downward slightly, but shadows and light make it appear like it’s turn- ing upwards. The beauty of the paint- ing is when you move your eyes across her face the smile will flicker on and off. He had tried his magical hands to depict the inner feeling the lady is holding. Not only this, he carried his notebook around as he walked through Florence or Milan and always sketched people’s expressions and emotions and tried to relate that to the inner feelings they had and a clear picture can be seen in his “The Last Sup- per.” Even after at- tending to perfection in portraying emo- tionshisunbelievable “Monalisa” is still the culmination because the emotions that she’s expressing, just like her smile, are a bit elusive. Every time you look at her it seems slightly differ- ent. It tries to depict the inner emotions. His ‘the most spell- binding narrative painting in history - The Last Supper’ takeusinsideitscrea- tion and explain why it is such a ultimate workof art.TheDuke of Milanaskedhimto paint it on the wall of a dining hall of a monastery . Unlike other depictions of “The Last Supper,” Leonardo doesn’t just captureamomentbut he understood that there is no such thing as a disconnected in- stant of time. He re- written the trance of motion in the paint- ing and created ‘The Last Supper’ a dra- matic narrative. As wewalkinthedoorof vision, weseeChrist’s hand then, going up the arm, stare at his face. He’s saying, “One of you shall be- tray me.” As our eyes move across the pic- ture, we see that soundalmostrippling outward as each of thegroupsof apostles reacts. In the Book of Matthew, Jesus says that the one who dipped his hand into the bowl with him is the “betrayer”. Also Vinci had those at the table sitting in a pat- tern:33133,mightbea numerological mes- sage and considering this, Vinci ignored convention in his creation by not plac- inghalosaboveJesus. Many art historians believe that Vinci believed in nature, not in God. • 12. lowers are without a doubt one of the most photographed subjects. It isn’t hard to see why, we are surrounded by them, and their wide range of colours, shapes, and sizes means that you rarely have to venture far before you find one that catches your eye. Unfortunately, many people make fundamental er- rors when photographing flow- ers. This can result in shots that lack “punch”, appearing much less interesting and vibrant than they did in person. There are several principles that you can follow to give your flower photos more impact, capturing lots of detail and making them engaging to the viewer. By learning these guidelines, you’ll be able to spot an underwhelm- ing photo before you capture it, and reframe the shot in a more interesting way . POSITION FLOWERS INTO YOUR FOREGROUND One of the easiest, most impact- ful ways to add fresh flowers into your images is to add them to the foreground of your image. Add- ing flowers into the foreground adds another dimension to the photo you’re creating. Doing this will blur the flowers, yet keep the person you’re photographing in focus. Focus on the subject’s eyes, and voilà, your camera will do the rest. USE FLOWERS TO CONCEAL PART OF YOUR SUBJECT’S FACE Rather than concealing part of the frame, try using a flower to conceal part of your subject’s face. Whether it’s your model holding the stem of a beautiful peony covering one of her eyes, or carefully placing dai- sies on the back of your mod- el’s head, try using a flower to leave something to be discov- ered in your image. FLOWER POWER MEETS WILD CHILD If you’re shooting with a model that has long hair, you’re in luck! This can be a really beauti- ful way to create festival-vibe photos. Using small flowers or petals like baby’s breath, dai- sies, or elderflower take the flowers and start pulling the fluff into your hand until it’s in tiny pieces. Once it’s in tiny pieces, depending on the size, you can either place the flowers carefully in your model’s hair or gently drop them on top of your model’s hair. One look is more staged, and one more natural, best suited for wildflowers. CREATING FLORAL BACKDROPS IN STUDIO SPACES If you have a ton of flowers, you can easily create a flower wall to provide an impactful back- drop for your image. But, if you don’t have the time or the ener- gy to create a full floral back- drop, you can carefully place flowers on the ground and have your subject lie in them. GET INSPIRED BY ART FOR CREATIVE FLOWER PORTRAIT PROJECTS Pick a flower that inspires you, or one that can be easily found in your geographical area, and create a series of portraits around that flower. You’d be surprised by how creative you can get when you open your im- agination.
