As India faces a chorus of diplomatic outrage from Gulf

isolated India, but also damaged the coun-

Dear readers,
Three
years ago,
this day
in 2019,
a dream
became
reality.
The seed of First India
was sown in Rajasthan
when the state was about
to undergo a change of
power. At its inception,
there was apprehension
if a Jaipur based newspa-
per would be at par with
the national newspapers
that are printed out of
the political or financial
nerve-centres of the
nation. Over the past
three years, FI’s focus on
news, its critical stand
on various government
policies along with a sup-
portive stance on policies
and schemes that have
done wonders for the
people, have made us
win the trust and acco-
lades of our readers. As
a result we step hence in
the 4th year, as gradu-
ally the seed is growing
into a ‘tree’ with our
‘branches’ in New Delhi,
Mumbai and Lucknow.
We thanks our readers
for the support and hope
to continue to hold high
their trust in us.

Prophet Muham-

effect on the politics of hate
which the Bharatiya Janata
Party practices directly and

Saudi Arabia by reaching out
to the respective governments
and suspending national

and expelling Naveen Kumar

Why Nupur was not ex-

BJP will find difficult to an-
swer and also leave its inten-
tions on respect for all reli-

creasing claims over mosques

by the Hindus. Mere suspen-
sion of Nupur hints at a pos-

near future. What is baffling,
however, is describing the two
national spokespersons as
“fringe elements”, especially
in the case of Nupur who was
even fielded by the BJP in Del-
hi elections. Even this action
is being condemned by BJP
zealots, the real fringe ele-
ments, who view it as suc-
cumbing to Islamic forces.
The BJP-led government is
caught in a bind. On the one
hand it has its fringe elements
persistingwiththeiranti-Mus-

it has to keep the Gulf coun-

religious tolerance. The Arab

Why Nupur was not expelled is
a question which the BJP will

NEVER FORGET THAT YOUR
LIFE IS OF LIMITED TIME
ntrepreneurs, Employees,
and Students live in a con-
tinuously stressful life, in
today’s highly competitive
era. Entrepreneurs want to
achieve those turnovers and
profit numbers. Corporate
executives want to complete
those targets. Students want
to get good marks. House-
wives have to continuously
work for the ambition of hus-
band and children. At this
time one question arises, is
the purpose of our life just to
achieve ambitions like profit,
money, designation, good
scores? Let me give you an
example of a small event.
Oneverytensepersoncame
to a very well known monk.
The monk asked him the rea-
son for coming. The person
said “I am living a very trou-
bled life. I am working very
hard. I am working almost 18
hours a day
. I am constantly
engaged with thoughts of
workthewholeday
,justsothat
I could be superior to my col-
leagues. But still, my col-
leagues are one step ahead of
me even today
. I can’t achieve
myambition.Mywifeandchil-
dren are offended of me be-
cause I don’t have time to
spend with them. Please show
me the path for a successful
and happy life.” The monk lis-
tened to him very quietly and
asked him to come the next
morning at the bank of the
river. Second-day early morn-
ing that person came to the
bank of the river. Monk was
already present there. Monk
tookhimintotheriverandtold
him to dive into it. With lots of
amazement, the person did so.
As he drowned his head
into the water suddenly
monk grabbed his head from
the neck and kept it sub-
merged in water. The person
started panicking. He could
not even breathe properly
. As
the person was about to die,
the monk took his head out
of the water. The person was
so angry he started saying
bad words to the monk.
But the monk asked him
humbly “What did you expe-
rience while drowning in the
water?” The person replied,
“I could just think about how
I can save my life” The Monk
smiled and said “God has
given you such a beautiful
life. Only one thing is pre-
decided and yet unknown
and that is, the time of your
death. Then why so many
ambitions and why are you
living a life full of stress?
At that time that person got
true guidance and after that
started living his life happily
.
The ultimate moral is god
gifted this valuable life to us
only for one time. So, all of us
should appreciate our life
and enjoy it with maximum
happiness. We should keep
the stress of small problems
aside and should try to live
an excellent life.
PRESENTING A FEW
POINTS BELOW

z Workload should be limited
to our office time only. There
is no need to bring work-
stress to home. Time after
office hours are for family
and friends so use it wisely

z Similarly, there is also no
need to bring the stress
of home to the office also.
While being at office you
should keep your focus at
work at a 100 percent. Try to
give your best and you will
surely get success.

z Whether you are a student or
a housewife, there is no need
to take unnecessary stress.
Whatever you do, do it with
a cheerful mind. Low grades
don’t matter, what matters is
your intelligence and ardor,
which will help you in identi-
fying new directions.

z Never forget that your life is of
limited time. So work in such a
way that the society and your
friends will remember you.

New Delhi: In deciding
the Rajya Sabha candi-
date, there has been an
amazing ‘check-mate’
politics going on be-
tween the BJP and its
ally JDU in Bihar. JDU
leader and Chief Minis-
ter Nitish Kumar had
given a very clear indi-
cation that he is not go-
ing to give ticket to the
Union Minister and Ra-
jya Sabha MP of his
party - RCP Singh. Then
there was talk that BJP
can give ticket to RCP,
but the BJP did not want
to upset Nitish under
any circumstances. The
BJP was apprehensive
that Nitish was betting
on the BJP on the pre-
text of RCP and if the
BJP took any step in re-
sponse, Nitish might
once again go with the
RJD. That is why BJP
too ignored RCP
.
Despite this, BJP took
care of politics and gave
ticket to Shambhu
Sharan Patel. Shambhu
Sharan Patel is not an
old leader associated
with any Sangh or BJP,
rather he was earlier in
JDU. But his most strik-
ing feature is that he
comes from the Dhanuk
caste, which is similar
to the Kurmi caste of
both the CM and RCP.
The majority of the pop-
ulation in the Kurmi
community is of Dha-
nuks. BJP played a gam-
ble by giving ticket from
a member of that com-
munity
. Nitish Kumar
countered BJP’s move
and gave ticket to JDU’s
Jharkhand president
Khiru Mahto. He is also
Kurmi and will work for
the politics of around 17
per cent Kurmi popula-
tion of Jharkhand. BJP

its ally Sudesh Mahto’s

Will Nitish accomplish his vision of countering BJP?

The Punjab Police has arrested another person
in connection with the killing of Punjabi singer

Ahmedabad: Minutes
after claiming to have
received threats,
Hardik Patel, the newly

The Patidar Anamat

firming this, within
minutes he retracted,
thus raising questions
as to why the bold lead-
er was shying away

Hardik confirmed
that he has received

tation programme for
the newly elected mem-
bers of the legislative

said, “Whenever you
formulate a law make
sure you take all the

it is important to place
a draft of such bills in
the public domain to
seek public feedback in
order to make a lot
more effective and pub-
licly acceptable.”
The Speaker also
asked lawmakers to
keep Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s call in

obsolete and outdated
laws.
Talking about the
beautiful legacy of the
north-eastern state of
Manipur with diverse

the efforts with which
Manipur was striving

development.
“The north-eastern

Norovirus: Centre asks Kerala for reports

confirmed cases of the
norovirus infection be-
ing reported from Kera-
la, the Union health
ministry has asked the
State Surveillance Of-
fice (SSO) to submit a
detailed report in the
matter, official sources
said on Monday
.
Norovirus is a viral
illness that is the most
common cause of acute
gastroenteritis globally
.
Symptoms of norovirus
include acute onset di-
arrhoea and vomiting.
Emerging evidence sug-
gests that the norovirus
infection is associated
with intestinal inflam-
mation, malnutrition
and may cause long-
term morbidity, an offi-

Lalu to go abroad
for kidney transplant
Ranchi: Rashtriya Ja-
nata Dal (RJD) Supre-
mo Lalu Prasad has ap-
pealed before a special
CBI Court for release of
his passport in order to
renew it as he may need
to travel abroad for a
possible kidney trans-
plant, his counsel said
on Monday
.
The 73-year-old Pras-
ad on April 22 was
granted bail by
Jharkhand High Court
in the Doranda Treas-
ury Case involving em-
bezzlement of over Rs
139 crore in which a CBI
special court had sen-
tenced him to five years
in prison.
“Lalu Prasad has
prayed for renewal of
his passport. He has
pleaded before a special
CBI court that his pass-
port be handed over for
renewal. The applica-
tion mentions that after
renewal the passport
will be submitted to the
court,” Prasad’s coun-
sel Prabhat Kumar told
PTI.
Kumar said, “He has
taken the plea that it is
a case of kidney failure
and he may be required
to go abroad for treat-
ment or transplant”
and added, “If we get an
appointment from the
doctor then we will pray
for passport release and
permission to go abroad
for treatment.”

New Delhi: The story
of the ‘dog walker’ IAS
couple is a much dis-
cussed topic these days,
not just in bureaucrat-
ic circles but in the gen-
eral public too. The
‘dog walker’ IAS cou-
ple, it is alleged, used to
vacate the Thyagaraj
Stadium in Delhi for
‘morning walk’. Ath-
letes exercising and
practicing in the stadi-
um were asked to va-
cate the stadium before
7:30 so that the officials
could walk around
with the dog. An Eng-
lish newspaper re-
vealed this and in a
hurry, the government
transferred both of
them and sent the hus-
band to Ladakh and the
wife to Arunachal
Pradesh. This decision
of the government was
highly praised in social
media and a lot of
memes were also made.
But the question is
whether both have
been sent to Ladakh
andArunachalPradesh
as punishment for a big
mistake? Officers liv-
ing in Delhi generally
refer to postings in
these states as punish-
ment posting or com-
pulsion posting. But in
reality these two areas
are the most sensitive
areas for India. China
has an eye on both
Ladakh and Arunachal
Pradesh and its sol-
diers keep infiltrating
these areas every day.
China is trying to
change the geography
of these two areas and
is also plotting to
change the population
structure or regional
structure. Therefore, it
is extremely dangerous
proposition if such a
sensitive state is being
made a dumping
ground as a punish-
ment posting. As a rule,
only the best of the best
officers should be sent
to these two areas.
Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials?

SENIOR CITIZEN
DUPED OF RS
6.49 LAKH BY
CYBER THUGS
ANoida-based senior citizen
has lost Rs 6.49 lakh to cyber
criminals, who tricked him into
downloading an app on his phone
in order to make payment of
electricity bill of his native house
in Bihar, police officials said
Monday. The Noida police have
lodged an FIR and launched an
investigation into the matter
which took place on Saturday
with the senior citizen, who lives
in Sector 40 of the city and runs
his own construction business,
the officials said. In his complaint
to the police, Gordhan Das
Khurwani (65) claimed that he
got a call from an unknown
number on Saturday in which the
caller identified himself as a
representative of the Bihar
electricity. He told me that the
power supply at my native home
in Katihar district will be cut off
today (June 4) since we have not
registered ourselves on Bihar’s
electricity supply app, Khurwani
said. Later I got a call from the
same number in which I was
asked by the called to make a
payment of Rs 10 to complete my
registration. I was sent a link to
some mobile phone apps and
asked to download it and I did
that, he said. Soon, he said the
SMS messages that came on his
phone from his bank, HDFC,
started getting deleted
automatically because of which
he restarted the device in order to
fix the problem. Khurwani
claimed that upon restarting the
device he checked and found that
the mobile phone banking service
of his account has been disabled
and he cross-checked it on his
laptop. I then called up officials of
my bank branch in Patna where I
was informed that Rs 6.49 lakh
have been transferred from my
account in multiple installments
of various amounts and I realized
the fraud that has happened with
me, the senior citizen said. —PTI

, police officials said.
The recovery of the
contraband in Greater
Noida near Delhi comes
within two days of a
major haul of 564 kg of
cannabis that was
smuggled from the Odi-

for sale in the NCR. The
accused in Monday’s in-

the Noida unit of the
UP police’s Special Task
Force (STF), they said.
The trio was in the
car when they were held
by the police and STF of-
ficials near the metro
station. 133 kg of canna-
bis estimated worth
around Rs 40 lakh was
seized from their pos-
session, a police spokes-
person said. During ini-
tial probe, the accused
told the police that they
had procured the con-
traband from Odisha
and brought it for sup-
ply in Delhi-National
Capital Region (NCR),
the spokesperson add-
ed. Those arrested have
been identified as Deep-
ak Sharma, Mohd
Wasim, both natives of
Meerut district, and

An FIR has been
lodged in the case under
provisions of the Nar-

legal proceedings in the
case are underway, the
police added.
In a major haul 3 days
ago, the STF had on Sat-

Missing ‘club, swimming pools’

(RERA) on Monday said
it will have a group

A controversy erupt-
ed after a RERA report
on real estate developer
Ajnara’s Le Garden pro-
ject showed that 100 per
cent of the work has
been completed on its
club, swimming pools,
among other works.
Residents of the soci-
ety located in Greater

known as Noida Exten-
sion took to social me-
dia to highlight the er-
ror, claiming no club or
pool existed on the site,
even as some alleged
collusion between
RERA and the develop-
er. Taking note of the
situation, UP RERA
chairman Rajive Ku-
mar has ordered inspec-
tion of the project to
ascertain the facts.
A high-level techni-
cal team from UP RERA
has been assigned for
inspection of the pro-
ject and to re-verify the
existing report. The re-
inspection report is-
sued by them will be
uploaded soon, Kumar

dents and home buyers
at the Ajnara’s Le Gar-
den project have been
protesting the embat-
tled builder’s unful-
filled promises and loot
in the name of facilities
that are non-existent.
UP-RERA’s alliance
with Ajnara builder has
come to the fore. In the

COUNCIL POLLS

Elections to the 13
council seats are pos-
ing a big challenge
before the Akh-

of claimants is quite
long, whereas its ca-
pacity is to win only
fourseats.Alongwith
the challenges of ad-
justing loyalists and
mollifying sulking
allies, the SP chief
has to grapple with
caste equations.
Swami Prasad
Maurya and Sobran
Singh Yadav are be-
lieved to be frontrun-
ners. The former
joined the SP after
rebelling against the
BJP; the latter has
been an MLA from
Karhal seat who va-
catedhisseatforAkh-

son of estranged
SBSP Chief Om-
prakash Rajbhar, is
also set to be sent to
the council. Along
with these, the names
of former MLA Im-
ran Masood and Ra-
hul Bharti of SP’s SC
Morcha are among
the strong contend-
ers. There are specu-
lations about Sunil

sidered close associ-
atesof thepartychief.

Lucknow (PTI): Bahu-
jan Samaj Party (BSP)
chief Mayawati on
Monday asked the BJP
to initiate legal pro-
ceedings against its
now suspended mem-
bers for hurting reli-
gious sensibilities of
the people.
In a tweet in Hindi,
Mayawati said, “In this
matter, the BJP should
strictly rein in its peo-
ple. Merely suspending
and expelling them will
not do. They should be
sent to jail under strict
laws.”
She also demanded a
serious probe in the
Kanpur violence, and
urged the Uttar Pradesh
government to not ha-
rass the innocent. She
said all religions should
be respected in the
country
.
The UP Police have
arrested 38 people so far
in the June 3 Kanpur

over 800 people in all
under the National Se-

Samajwadi Party

SP candidate Asim Raza, city

First India Bureau
Lucknow: The Lok
Sabha byelection in
Rampur has taken inter-
esting turn with both
Samajwadi Party and
BJP candidates close to
senior SP leader Azam
Khan. Both have grown
under the banyan shad-
ow of Khan who has oc-
topus like grip over the
party in Rampur.
SP candidate Asim
Raza, who is city presi-
dent of the party, filed
his nomination papers
in the presence of Khan
and his family members
today
. BJP’s nominee
Ghanshyam Lodhi’s
whose proximity with
Khan was well known
before he left the party
in January 2022 to join
the saffron brigade.
Lodhi had been twice
elected from Vidhan
Parishad on SP’s ticket.
Even as Khan was au-
thorised by the party
leadership to decide
about the candidature
in Rampur, he kept it
closely-guarded secret
till the last moment of
filing the nominations.
The reason according
to party sources was to
keep Mukhtar Abbas
Naqvi away from the
contest. Naqvi’s Rajya
Sabha term has come to
an end and the BJP has
not nominated him
from anywhere. There
were reports that he
would be contesting
from Rampur.
Sources said had the
BJP come to know that
a non-entity like Asim
Raja was going to be
SP’s nominee, it would
have fielded Naqvi,
thereby forcing Khan to
field his wife Tazeen
Fatima.
As the time for filing
the papers came to an
end on the last day of
nomination today
, Khan
tookbothAsimRajaand
his wife projecting as if
Fatima would file the
papers but much to the
surprise of his support-
ers outside the collector-
ate Khan announced the
candidature of Raja.
There was certainly not
much time for BJP to

AZAM’S SILENT SUPPORT TO
BJP’S LODHI CAN’T BE RULED OUT
There is a feeling in the political circle that
possibility of “quiet support” to BJP’s Lodhi
cannot be ruled out as Khan, who along with his
family, has faced unprecedented political perse-
cution and imprisonment for 27 months. Tazeen
Fatima and Khan’s son Abullah Azam were also put
behind the bars for long. The woes of Khan seem
to be far from over as still a large number of cases
are pending and his dream project Jauhar Univer-
sity lies in tatters with the government determined
to take away land acquired for the university.

  • 1. ‘LEGISLATURE IS TEMPLE OF DEMOCRACY’: PRESIDENT First India Bureau Lucknow:President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday addressed a joint session of the Ut- tar Pradesh Legislative Council and the Legis- lative Assembly, saying that the UP legislature has a glorious history of amicability between the ruling party and the opposition. Stating that there can be differences of ideol- ogy but there shouldn’t be animosity between the two sides, the Presi- dent said, “Sometimes, there have been undig- nified incidents which are contrary to this rich tradition. You have to make an effort to forget them by considering those as an exception. “You all have to fur- ther strengthen the rich political tradition of UP . In a democracy, there canbedifferencesof ide- ology between the rul- ingpartyandtheopposi- tionbutthereshouldnot be any animosity (vaimanasya) between both the sides,” Kovind said. The President said that the legislature is a temple of democracy and the lawmakers are the ‘bhagya vidhata’ or thosewhodecidethedes- tiny .Kovindsaidthatthe people of the state have expectations from their representatives, who should fulfil them. ADDRESS TO JOINT SESSION President Ram Nath Kovind addresses the joint session, in presence of Governor Anandiben Patel, CM Yogi Adityanath, Legislative Council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh, Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Akhilesh Yadav, in the Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow on Monday. BACK TO BANKE BIHARI CM Yogi Adityanath reached Mathura on Monday for the first time since becoming CM for the second term. He first went to have darshan of Krishna at the Banke Bihari Temple. REMARK ON PROPHET MUHAMMED GOVT FIREFIGHTS AFTER GULF OUTRAGE “Narrow-Minded”: India’s reply to Islamic nations’ group Moni Sharma New Delhi: The sus- pension of BJP spokes- person Nupur Sharma and expulsion of the BJP’s Delhi media cell chief Naveen Kumar on Sunday amid a diplo- matic furore between India and West Asian countries has created a major buzz within the BJP. The government on Monday fought to de- fuse anger in Gulf countries and opposi- tion attacks at home over comments on Prophet Muhammad by two BJP leaders. India on Monday slammed comments by OIC as "narrow-mind- ed", "motivated, mis- leading and mischie- vous". Reacting to re- marks by OIC, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India ac- cords "highest respect" to all religions and that the statement by 57-member grouping exposed its "divisive agenda" which is being pursued at the behest of "vested interests." OIC also urged UN to take necessary measures to ensure that rights of Muslims are protected in India. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi KUWAIT SUPERMARKET PULLS INDIAN PRODUCTS Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti supermarket pulled Indian products from its shelves even as Iran became the latest Middle Eastern country to summon the Indian ambassador as a row grew on Monday over a BJP official’s remarks about the Prophet Mohammed. Workers at Al-Ardiya Co-Operative So- ciety store piled Indian tea into trolleys in a protest against comments denounced as “Islamophobic”. Outside the supermarket, sacks of rice and shelves of spices and chilies were covered with plastic sheets. Printed signs in Arabic read: “We have removed Indian products”. Dear readers, Three years ago, this day in 2019, a dream became reality. The seed of First India was sown in Rajasthan when the state was about to undergo a change of power. At its inception, there was apprehension if a Jaipur based newspa- per would be at par with the national newspapers that are printed out of the political or financial nerve-centres of the nation. Over the past three years, FI’s focus on news, its critical stand on various government policies along with a sup- portive stance on policies and schemes that have done wonders for the people, have made us win the trust and acco- lades of our readers. As a result we step hence in the 4th year, as gradu- ally the seed is growing into a ‘tree’ with our ‘branches’ in New Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow. Countries like India and China are no longer poor countries and cannot be dictated to. T hewidespreadout- rage over BJP spokespersons’ re- marks against Prophet Muham- mad should have a sobering effect on the politics of hate which the Bharatiya Janata Party practices directly and indirectly . Mere suspen- sion of Nupur hints at a pos- sible bigger role for her in the near future. What is baffling, however, is describing the two national spokespersons as “fringe elements”, especially in the case of Nupur who was even fielded by the BJP in Del- hi elections. Even this action is being condemned by BJP zealots, the real fringe ele- ments, who view it as suc- cumbing to Islamic forces. The BJP-led government is caught in a bind. Mere suspension of Nupur hints at a possible bigger role for her in the near future T NEVER FORGET THAT YOUR LIFE IS OF LIMITED TIME ntrepreneurs, Employees, and Students live in a con- tinuously stressful life, in today’s highly competitive era. Entrepreneurs want to achieve those turnovers and profit numbers. Corporate executives want to complete those targets. Students want to get good marks. House- wives have to continuously work for the ambition of hus- band and children. At this time one question arises, is the purpose of our life just to achieve ambitions like profit, money, designation, good scores? Let me give you an example of a small event. Oneverytensepersoncame to a very well known monk. The monk asked him the rea- son for coming. The person said “I am living a very trou- bled life. I am working very hard. I am working almost 18 hours a day . I am constantly engaged with thoughts of workthewholeday ,justsothat I could be superior to my col- leagues. But still, my col- leagues are one step ahead of me even today . I can’t achieve myambition.Mywifeandchil- dren are offended of me be- cause I don’t have time to spend with them. Please show me the path for a successful and happy life.” The monk lis- tened to him very quietly and asked him to come the next morning at the bank of the river. Second-day early morn- ing that person came to the bank of the river. Monk was already present there. Monk tookhimintotheriverandtold him to dive into it. With lots of amazement, the person did so. As he drowned his head into the water suddenly monk grabbed his head from the neck and kept it sub- merged in water. The person started panicking. He could not even breathe properly . As the person was about to die, the monk took his head out of the water. The person was so angry he started saying bad words to the monk. But the monk asked him humbly “What did you expe- rience while drowning in the water?” The person replied, “I could just think about how I can save my life” The Monk smiled and said “God has given you such a beautiful life. Only one thing is pre- decided and yet unknown and that is, the time of your death. Then why so many ambitions and why are you living a life full of stress? At that time that person got true guidance and after that started living his life happily . The ultimate moral is god gifted this valuable life to us only for one time. So, all of us should appreciate our life and enjoy it with maximum happiness. We should keep the stress of small problems aside and should try to live an excellent life. PRESENTING A FEW POINTS BELOW z Workload should be limited to our office time only. There is no need to bring work- stress to home. Time after office hours are for family and friends so use it wisely z Similarly, there is also no need to bring the stress of home to the office also. While being at office you should keep your focus at work at a 100 percent. JDU leader and Chief Minis- ter Nitish Kumar had given a very clear indi- cation that he is not go- ing to give ticket to the Union Minister and Ra- jya Sabha MP of his party - RCP Singh. Then there was talk that BJP can give ticket to RCP, but the BJP did not want to upset Nitish under any circumstances. The BJP was apprehensive that Nitish was betting on the BJP on the pre- text of RCP and if the BJP took any step in re- sponse, Nitish might once again go with the RJD. That is why BJP too ignored RCP . Despite this, BJP took care of politics and gave ticket to Shambhu Sharan Patel. Shambhu Sharan Patel is not an old leader associated with any Sangh or BJP, rather he was earlier in JDU. But his most strik- ing feature is that he comes from the Dhanuk caste, which is similar to the Kurmi caste of both the CM and RCP. The majority of the pop- ulation in the Kurmi community is of Dha- nuks. BJP played a gam- ble by giving ticket from a member of that com- munity . Nitish Kumar countered BJP’s move and gave ticket to JDU’s Jharkhand president Khiru Mahto. He is also Kurmi and will work for the politics of around 17 per cent Kurmi popula- tion of Jharkhand. BJP practices Kurmi politics in Jharkhand through its ally Sudesh Mahto’s AJSU.NowJDUhasalso played its hand there. Accord- ing to the information received, Rahul Gandhi will reach Chandigarh by flight tomorrow morning. After that, he will go to the village of Moose Wala,” a source said. Earlier on Monday, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot visited Moose Wala’s house. Punjab Police last week reconstituted Spe- cial Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the in- vestigations in the mur- der of Shubhdeep Sin- gh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala. In the recently held Punjab state elections, Moose Wala was the Congress candidate from Mansa. He was, however, defeated by the Aaam Aadmi Party candidate. According to the let- ter accessed by The In- dian Express, the “like- ly targets of execution could be Bathinda jail, Ferozepur jail, Amrit- sar jail or Ludhiana jail”. The development comes few days after Punjab witnessed back- to-back incidents of vi- olence and security breach, allegedly planned and executed by the gangsters operat- ing from abroad with the help of local crimi- nals, including murder of kabaddi player Sand- eep Singh Nangal Am- bian on March 14, RPG attack on police intelli- gence. The ‘dog walker’ IAS cou- ple, it is alleged, used to vacate the Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi for ‘morning walk’. Ath- letes exercising and practicing in the stadi- um were asked to va- cate the stadium before 7:30 so that the officials could walk around with the dog. An Eng- lish newspaper re- vealed this and in a hurry, the government transferred both of them and sent the hus- band to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh. This decision of the government was highly praised in social media and a lot of memes were also made. But the question is whether both have been sent to Ladakh andArunachalPradesh as punishment for a big mistake? Officers liv- ing in Delhi generally refer to postings in these states as punish- ment posting or com- pulsion posting. But in reality these two areas are the most sensitive areas for India. China has an eye on both Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh and its sol- diers keep infiltrating these areas every day. China is trying to change the geography of these two areas and is also plotting to change the population structure or regional structure. Therefore, it is extremely dangerous proposition if such a sensitive state is being made a dumping ground as a punish- ment posting. As a rule, only the best of the best officers should be sent to these two areas. Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials? The list of claimants is quite long, whereas its ca- pacity is to win only fourseats.Alongwith the challenges of ad- justing loyalists and mollifying sulking allies, the SP chief has to grapple with caste equations. Swami Prasad Maurya and Sobran Singh Yadav are be- lieved to be frontrun- ners. The former joined the SP after rebelling against the BJP; the latter has been an MLA from Karhal seat who va- catedhisseatforAkh- ilesh.ArvindRajbhar, son of estranged SBSP Chief Om- prakash Rajbhar, is also set to be sent to the council. Along with these, the names of former MLA Im- ran Masood and Ra- hul Bharti of SP’s SC Morcha are among the strong contend- ers. There are specu- lations about Sunil Yadav, Dr. Rajpal Kashyap, Sanjay Lather and Udayveer Singh, who are con- sidered close associ- atesof thepartychief. The SP’s Lucknow unit is pitching for Jagdeep Singh Yadav and Ashok Yadav. Former MLC Hiralal Yadav and former MLA Jaishankar Pandey have also submitted their claim. Along with former Leader of Op- position Ram Govind Chaudhary, Ram Asare Vishwakarma and Nadeem Faroo- qui are also among the contenders. SP members in the coun- cil are going to de- crease by ten. In such a situation, the party will lose the claim for the post of Leader of the Opposition. Azamgarh (PTI): Sam- ajwadiParty’scandidate Dharmendra Yadav and BJP’s Dinesh Yadav ‘Nirauaha’ filed their nomination papers for Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat on Monday . Speaking to reporters after filing his nomina- tion, Yadav said his fight is not against any candi- date, but “against those who have misled people andwhospeakliesinthe country and the state”. “The people of Azamgarh have always given strength to the so- cialists irrespective of the direction of the wind. People will repeat the history here this timeaswell.Itismyhon- our that I have got a chance to contest elec- tions from a historical land like Azamgarh. The people in Azamgarh have always given strength to the ‘sama- jwadis’ (socialists),” Ya- dav said. He also said Netaji (SP patriarch Mu- layam Singh) had once said “if Etawah is the heart, Azamgarh is the heartbeat”. Dinesh Lal exuded confidence that in ab- senceof agrandalliance the people will vote on development issues and confirm his victory . The bypoll was necessitated after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav vacated the seat following his win in the UP polls. “The last time, there was a ‘mahagath- bandhan’(theallianceof SPBSP).Butthistime, there is no such alliance and victory is assured. Azamgarh will not vote on caste lines but on de- velopment,” he said. Rudraprayag (ANI): A video has surfaced on social media wherein a helicopterbelongingtoa private aviation compa- ny , while landing at Ke- darnath helipad, had an uncontrolled hard land- ing on May 31. In the said incident, no passengers were in- jured, officials said on Tuesday . Just after this video went viral on so- cial media, the Director- ate General of Civil Avi- ation (DGCA) issued an operational advisory, which said, “Adequate precautions are to be taken, and if the tail/ cross wind component is beyond the permissi- ble limits, the approach is to be abandoned and helicopter is to return to base.” The advisory further read, “Adequate spacing is to be maintained by all helicopters flying in the valley . Operators are to ensure that pilots are qualified and current to undertake the opera- tions. Operators shall ensure pilots are well rested, and immediate corrective action is to be taken in case any signs of fatiguearedetectedin operating crew.” Lucknow (PTI): Bahu- jan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday asked the BJP to initiate legal pro- ceedings against its now suspended mem- bers for hurting reli- gious sensibilities of the people. In a tweet in Hindi, Mayawati said, “In this matter, the BJP should strictly rein in its peo- ple. Merely suspending and expelling them will not do. They should be sent to jail under strict laws.” She also demanded a serious probe in the Kanpur violence, and urged the Uttar Pradesh government to not ha- rass the innocent. She said all religions should be respected in the country . The UP Police have arrested 38 people so far in the June 3 Kanpur violence, having booked over 800 people in all under the National Se- curity Act. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav too had on Sunday in a tweet in Hindi asked the BJP to take tough action against Sharma. “The BJP should not only take ‘dikhavati kaaryavahi’ (sham ac- tion) against Nupur Sharma, but take legal steps,” he had said. The BJP on Sunday suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal over their alleged de- rogatory remarks against Prophet Mo- hammad, as it sought to defuse a raging row over the issue. Both have grown under the banyan shad- ow of Khan who has oc- topus like grip over the party in Rampur. SP candidate Asim Raza, who is city presi- dent of the party, filed his nomination papers in the presence of Khan and his family members today . BJP’s nominee Ghanshyam Lodhi’s whose proximity with Khan was well known before he left the party in January 2022 to join the saffron brigade. Lodhi had been twice elected from Vidhan Parishad on SP’s ticket. Even as Khan was au- thorised by the party leadership to decide about the candidature in Rampur, he kept it closely-guarded secret till the last moment of filing the nominations. The reason according to party sources was to keep Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi away from the contest. Naqvi’s Rajya Sabha term has come to an end and the BJP has not nominated him from anywhere. There were reports that he would be contesting from Rampur. Sources said had the BJP come to know that a non-entity like Asim Raja was going to be SP’s nominee, it would have fielded Naqvi, thereby forcing Khan to field his wife Tazeen Fatima. As the time for filing the papers came to an end on the last day of nomination today , Khan tookbothAsimRajaand his wife projecting as if Fatima would file the papers but much to the surprise of his support- ers outside the collector- ate Khan announced the candidature of Raja. There was certainly not much time for BJP to react. Now with BSP and Congress announc- ing to stay away from byelectionfromRampur and Azamgarh the bat- tleisgoingtobebetween SP and BJP and the role of Khan would be watched with interest. SP candidate Asim Raza leaves after filing his nomination in Rampur on Monday. Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi with party candidate Ghanshyam Lodhi in Rampur on Monday. AZAM’S SILENT SUPPORT TO BJP’S LODHI CAN’T BE RULED OUT There is a feeling in the political circle that possibility of “quiet support” to BJP’s Lodhi cannot be ruled out as Khan, who along with his family, has faced unprecedented political perse- cution and imprisonment for 27 months. Tazeen Fatima and Khan’s son Abullah Azam were also put behind the bars for long. The woes of Khan seem to be far from over as still a large number of cases are pending and his dream project Jauhar Univer- sity lies in tatters with the government determined to take away land acquired for the university. SP’s Yadav, BJP’s Yadav file nomination from Azamgarh DGCA advisory after helicopter scare at Kedarnath helipad The Congress will not contest the upcoming by-elections to two Lok Sabha seats in the state. State Congress vice president Yogesh Dixit issued a statement on Monday say- ing that the party had decided not to contest the Lok Sabha by-elections in view of the recent Assembly polls.
