The course is divided into two halfs each worth
fifty percent of the overall grade.

3. EXAM
There are two questions.
The first will focus on an unseen extract
(superhero movie) where you will analyse the
scene.
The second will be to discuss the themes and
content within a film chosen, Amelie / Devils
Backbone
4. Coursework
There are two parts to the coursework
The first is to analyse and research a film of your
choice which will include target audience and
methods of distribution and exhibition.
The second will be to produce a short film /
opening of a film. This will include planning,
production and post-produciton working within a
group in a chosen role.
5. Introduction to Film
We are going to start by introducing some key
terms and exploring them within film scenes.
WHAT IS GENRE?
6. Genre
Is a method of catergorising film by reoccuring
content.
What elements might exist within horror – Discuss.
Task
Wacth the scene and discuss in groups what
elements make this a horror film.

8. Mise – en-scene
A french term meaning everything within the
frame.
This includes: costume, props, location, lighting,
colour / decoration, how the actor moves
