1. Question 2
How does your project represent particular social groups?
(Target audience and groups)
2. Models
• My magazine features two white artists of two different genders as to
appeal to a wide range of people. This was not something that was
done through bias. Both artists cannot be defined by class through
their pictures but when reading the articles you find out more about
them and that they started as just ordinary students.
• Gender stereotypes have not been avoided however. The posing of
the artists and the way they were written can definitely be seen as
typical. EG the girl is very chatty and excitable and is seen in a flirty
pose where as the man is in a dominant stance and is very straight
forward written.
3. Magazine Attraction
• The target age for my audience was originally around 12-19 and for
the teenage generation.
• After the final product of my magazine cover was finished it looked
like it would very definitely fit this audience and maybe stretch a bit
further and blur the lines between the target audience and those
outside of the initial age range.
• The magazine itself is written to appeal to teens and the way it is
written is similar to how a radio would address such an audience,
using excitable text and some slang terms.
4. Other
• Colour, text and the music style were all selected to appeal the target
audience mainly in age. The price of the magazine and what it
includes were aimed to fit the audience income.
• Blending together all aspects of the magazine including cover,
content, style, features and text makes the perfect combination to
attract the audience I was aiming for.
• To first attract the audience I included a way to interest them with
competitions and free insides as well as other fun things like
crosswords or riddles to do in the magazine.
