5. Letters from Carol & Steph
Dear Sups, Managers, and Stephanie,
Let me begin by thanking each and every one of you for your dedication
and commitment to our team and to the Student Center Facilities
operation. As I reflect on the level of accountability and devotion you have
for one another, the way you nurture and mentor new staff, and the lasting
friendships you develop over the years - I am so amazed. I truly could not
be any prouder of all you have accomplished while you were here; you are
truly an amazing staff!
To our seniors, I wish you the very best in all you do as you start the next
phase of your life journey. Certainly your time here is coming to a close
and the legacy and stories you have created while you were here will
continue to live on. I am confident you will each be a valuable contributor
in your new job or as you continue your education. Wherever you go I
challenge you to make a difference in the lives of those around you because
you did just that while you were here. May our paths cross once again in
the not too distant future.
To our returning staff, I look forward to the next experience and journey
we will share together. You are such a motivating and remarkable group of
people and it will be my privilege to work with each of you. Wishing you
all continued success!
With My Deepest Gratitude,
Carol

7. My Dearest Building Supervisors,
Well hello there! It's been an incredible year working with all of you and I really can't
believe it is already coming to an end. This year has been one of my favorite years
working at the UC yet (don't let past Sups see this). When I stopped to think about
why that was the case, I realized that it was not one specific thing or one specific event
that made this year so fantastic (although I can't lie and say Dorney didn't help a bit..).
But in all seriousness, what I realized was that it was each and every one of you that
really did it. I feel so lucky to get to work with such a diligent and passionate student
staff. I don't think I've ever seen such a unique and diverse group of people come
together in such a cohesive way. You all are so willing to go above and beyond, whether
that means staying an extra hour to help out a fellow Sup, coming in during your spare
time to train someone new, or even just staying an hour past your shift to hang out and
chat. We had a big group to hire this year and were a bit nervous as to how the whole
hiring and training process would go. It is thanks to all of you that it went so smoothly.
Each of you stepped up to the plate, whether as a new staff member quickly learning the
job, or as an older staff member helping the new staff along the way. I know it sounds a
bit corny, but I hope you realize that it is all of you that make this job so special.
To John, Juan, Katie, Madiha, Paul, Steph, and Zach- For four years I have watched you
grow and develop from little baby freshmen (or sophomores) to seniors ready to
venture out into the real world. I entered this position pretty unsure what to expect.
You all welcomed me with open arms and made my transition to graduate school/into
this position slightly less terrifying. Congratulations to the most impressive group of
seniors I know (I guess I'm slightly biased because I don't know any other group of
seniors, but I'd still be willing to bet you guys would top the "impressive" list). I cannot
wait to see what you all accomplish.
To all the building supervisors- Thank you for all the work you put in. For delivering
the mail even if you have a test in an hour and need to be studying. For not screaming at
the student who comes to look for his lost keys for the sixth week in a row. For
thinking on your toes and being creative when a set-up is incredibly complicated. For
being patient when a student is hiding from you as you are trying to lock up the
building. For maintaining your composure when our customers get frustrated. For
giving me clues when I am the only person who can't seem to find all my hidden faces
around the desk. For always keeping me laughing and knowing just how to cheer me up
when I need it most. Thank you for all that you do. You all rock.
SUPer amounts of love (hehe-see what I did there),
Steph

2015 our staff held
a surprise baby
