Looking back at the past eleven weeks I have grown and learned so much here at Ashford
University. I never thought that I would actually accomplish my educational dreams and be
successful in my life, but I definitely have proved, myself wrong. I love knowing that I am doing
great and I really try to do my best in completing my homework on time, with the occasions of a few
speed bumps along the way.
I decided to return to school to further my education for many important reasons. I have struggled
tremendously in the past with my five children and I wanted to change that life style for good. I am

I decided to just go for it and I am so glad I did because I know now that I have overcome that fear
and I feel as if I can accomplish anything and everything. I can also say that I have matured in
many ways as a mother, first time college student, and being a single mother of five. My kids had
to adjust to the new routine as well. They did not understand at first but eventually they came
around and little by little they gave me the time I needed to study and do homework. I still have to
overcome a few obstacles in order to complete my degree program, just like I had to overcome all
the changes that come with me returning to school.
One of the main obstacles I must achieve here at Ashford University is to listen, learn, and to be
obedient in all the discussions and the assignments asked of me. Last but not least I have to say I
have to overcome all negative feelings I get from time to time to complete all my educational
goals. I need to be prepared mentally and physically for anything that is being asked of me from
my instructors. I feel that I need to keep an open mind as well because I know all the feedback
from classmates and instructors will be of great help in making me a better person and learner.
There are a few things I must do to overcome all these certain obstacles here in college in order to
have a successful completion of my degree.

2. My Success In My Life
Life for me was always as a failure. Too ignorant to be smart and too negligent to show my
potential. My life was beginning to dry up as it left me stranded with no hope. I was rotting away
under my own weight. But someone came into my life and she taught me the strength to lift
myself up. As time grew with her in my life, my passion to succeed and overcome emerged. My
dearest friend gave me the motivation to educate myself, to help me get a greater understand of my
future, as well as making me step outside my comfort zone. With all she has done and inspired me
to do, she is my greatest role model.
The first reason she has impact me, was giving me a reason to want to educate myself. Me and her
were different in our own prospective, I was the dumb failure who lacked the motivation to succeed
in higher education while she was the A honor roll in everything student, in fact she got the most
awards in her class year then everyone else. While attending her award ceremony, all I heard for
each student was, "Congrats *blank* *blank* you received the attendance award for not missing any
school." Then she came on stage, not receiving the attendance award, but fulfilling A honor roll,
JROTC leadership, Best English student, and more, that I could not comprehend. This lead the
audience to all applause loudly and cheer, cherishing her for all she did, even if it was just for that

My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you)

Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets
is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very important,
and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life
interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or
the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I
grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination.
They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the
$55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company,
moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed
to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is
practiced, things won't spin out of control.

Without that fuel, you will go nowhere. Motivation can be a number of things. It could be family,
money, fame, fear of failure; anything that makes you strive for your goal. My motivations are
to: become famous, be able to live comfortably, and to be able to raise a family. I will hold onto

The most important thing in life is thought to be happiness. In order to achieve success you must
adjust to every situation with ease. When we use the term successful it does not mean the same as
the conventional definition. The definition we are referring to is to be able to overcome hardships,

There are three ways in which stress can be beneficial and can have positive effects. Stressful events
help to satisfy stimulation and challenge. Stress can promote personal growth and self–improvement.
Finally stress can protect people and harden them so that they are less affected by the next day's
stress.
Since stress is an everyday event and cannot be avoided most times it is important to learn to cope
with that stress. One way to cope is by doing self–talk. Which is fairly self–explanatory. It helps
people to see their options more clearly. Another method, which would help, is when people talk
about their stress with friends, family or professionals. Every time someone employs one of these
methods it is beneficial to their mental health which is beneficial to their mental wellness and to the
people they interact with. When someone is successful in combating stress it shows throughout
other parts of his or her lives. They experience better health both mentally and physically and from
