IndiaGovernmentonThursdaymadeitclearthatithasnotyetthoughtaboutcontinuingtheexportincentivescheme.“Indiaisyettotakeacallonextendingsopsforoverseassaleofsugarinthe2014/15season,”FoodMinisterRamVilasPaswansaid.Theministeralsosaidmillsowedabout43billionrupees($692million)tocanegrowersforthelastseasonendedSept.30.SugarindustryhasbeenrequestingtheCentralGovernmenttocontinuewiththeexportincentiveschemeandalsohelptheindustrytoconvertsurplussugarintoethanolwithincentive.Industrywaswaitingfordecisionsonboththesefronts.AccordingtothefirstadvanceestimatesoftheGovernment,sugarproductionisexpectedtobearound250.46lakhtonsduring2014-15whichwouldbesufficienttomeettheestimateddomesticrequirementof245lakhtonsduringtheperiod.Thesugarproductionduringtheprevioussugarseason(2013-14)isprovisionallyestimatedtobe245.54lakhtons.ButIndianSugarMillsAssociation(ISMA)’sestimateofsugarproductionfor2014-15sugarseasonisaround250-255lakhtons.ButIndianSugarMillsAssociation(ISMA)’sestimateofsugarproductionfor2014-15sugarseasonisaround250-255lakhtons.Thesugarproductionupto15thNovember2014,inthecurrentsugarseason,isaround5.6lakhtonnesascomparedto4.62lakhtonnesproducedlastyearupto15thNovember2013,ISMAsaid.Theopeningstockofsugarwiththesugarindustryason1stOctober2014,asperreportssubmittedbytheindividualmills, isaround75lakhtonnes.However,theGovernmentisestimatingtheopeningbalanceataround72lakhtonnes
ChanapricesweretradingaroundRs3080perquintal,upRs30fromthelastdayduetolimitedsellingbytraders.Thefreshsowingisstillamajorconcernasfarmersareshiftingthechanaareatowardsmasoorcropduetobetterpricereturns.Tradersestimatedthattotalcropsizeislikelytobearound25-30percentbelowthelastyear.Thiswillsupportthepricesinthenearterm.
Mustardseedpricesarestillbuoyantinlocalmandiesduetolimitedsuppliesinlocalmandies.Thedemandisalsolikelytoaccelerateduringwinterperiod.Tradersexpectingthathighertenderratesofmustardmealwillsupportthepricesinthenearterm.
CoriandersowinginKotaisexpectedtobedoubleoflastyearduetohigherpricerealization.However,MadhyaPradeshhasreportedweakarrivalsfromnewcrop.Tradersareexpectingdeclineincorianderpricesinthenearterm.Stockistsarecurrentlyactiveinthemarket.
Turmericpriceshavereportedsomeweaknesstodayduetostrongsuppliesinerodemandiandweakexportersdemandathigherlevels. However,weakproductionestimatesandrecedingstocksinlocalmandiestosupportpricesinthenearterm.
Somesellingwasobservedinjeermarketduetostrongarrivalsofoldstocksinlocalamndies.However,thedemandremainsgoodthough.HugedeclineisestimatedinJeerasowinginthecurrentyear.Thepriceswillremainunderpressureintheshortterm.
Weakarrivalshavesupportedguarseedarrivalstoday.Thetotalarrivalsare1lakhbagstoday.Gumdemandissteadybutwouldpickuponlyifthecrudepricesriseinnearterm.

COTTON ARRIVALS AT KEY SPOT MARKETS National & International Market Update
TheGovernmentofIndiahasgiventheapprovalforRs.653crorestothestategovernmentofMaharashtratorescuethedroughthitfarmersinthestateandtohandletheotherlossesoccurred.Around19,069villagesoutof39,134havebeenhitbadlyduetodrought.TheTextileMinister, ShriSantoshKumarGangwarinstructedCottonCorporationofIndia(CCI)tocloselysuperviseandcontrolthecottonprices.HetoldCCItosetupadditionalprocurementcenterswhereverrequiredandtoensurethehasslefree,directpaymenttofarmers.Healsoexpressedtheneedofescalationinexportsofcottonandexplorationofnewexportdestinations.Thereviseddutydrawbackrates,announcedbytheUnionGovernmenthavebroughtdelightfortextileexportersandstakeholder. Additionalproductcategorieshavebeenincludedandthedrawbackcapshavebeenincreasedfortextileexports,saidCottonTextileExportPromotion.cottonyarnabove50scount.Theupwardrevisionintherateswillboosttheexportsandpromotethevalueaddition.Pricesofcottoninvariouscountrieshavefallenbyaround25-30%.Asthesituationishurtingcottongrowers,thesecountrieshavestartedtakingstepstorescuethefallingprices.
ChinamonthlycottonimportshitsitsfiveyearlowinOctoberthisyear.Thecountryhasimported81,900tonnesofcottonintheOctobermonth,42%lowerwhencomparedtosamemonthlastyear.Also,forthefirsttime,monthlyimportofthefiberfellbelowthelevelof100,000tonnessinceOctober2010.BesidesthedelayedharvestinmajorexportingnationsincludingIndiaandUSA,therestrictiononsubsidizedimportshasloweredtheimport.
