IndiaGovernmentonThursdaymadeitclearthatithasnotyetthoughtaboutcontinuingtheexportincentivescheme.“Indiaisyettotakeacallonextendingsopsforoverseassaleofsugarinthe2014/15season,”FoodMinisterRamVilasPaswansaid.Theministeralsosaidmillsowedabout43billionrupees($692million)tocanegrowersforthelastseasonendedSept.30.SugarindustryhasbeenrequestingtheCentralGovernmenttocontinuewiththeexportincentiveschemeandalsohelptheindustrytoconvertsurplussugarintoethanolwithincentive.Industrywaswaitingfordecisionsonboththesefronts.AccordingtothefirstadvanceestimatesoftheGovernment,sugarproductionisexpectedtobearound250.46lakhtonsduring2014-15whichwouldbesufficienttomeettheestimateddomesticrequirementof245lakhtonsduringtheperiod.Thesugarproductionduringtheprevioussugarseason(2013-14)isprovisionallyestimatedtobe245.54lakhtons.ButIndianSugarMillsAssociation(ISMA)’sestimateofsugarproductionfor2014-15sugarseasonisaround250-255lakhtons.ButIndianSugarMillsAssociation(ISMA)’sestimateofsugarproductionfor2014-15sugarseasonisaround250-255lakhtons.Thesugarproductionupto15thNovember2014,inthecurrentsugarseason,isaround5.6lakhtonnesascomparedto4.62lakhtonnesproducedlastyearupto15thNovember2013,ISMAsaid.Theopeningstockofsugarwiththesugarindustryason1stOctober2014,asperreportssubmittedbytheindividualmills,isaround75lakhtonnes.However,theGovernmentisestimatingtheopeningbalanceataround72lakhtonnes

Mustardseedpricesarestillbuoyantinlocalmandiesduetolimitedsuppliesinlocalmandies.Thedemandisalsolikelytoaccelerateduringwinterperiod.Tradersexpectingthathighertenderratesofmustardmealwillsupportthepricesinthenearterm.
CoriandersowinginKotaisexpectedtobedoubleoflastyearduetohigherpricerealization.However,MadhyaPradeshhasreportedweakarrivalsfromnewcrop.Tradersareexpectingdeclineincorianderpricesinthenearterm.Stockistsarecurrentlyactiveinthemarket.
Turmericpriceshavereportedsomeweaknesstodayduetostrongsuppliesinerodemandiandweakexportersdemandathigherlevels. However,weakproductionestimatesandrecedingstocksinlocalmandiestosupportpricesinthenearterm.
Somesellingwasobservedinjeermarketduetostrongarrivalsofoldstocksinlocalamndies.However,thedemandremainsgoodthough. HugedeclineisestimatedinJeerasowinginthecurrentyear.Thepriceswillremainunderpressureintheshortterm.
