2. Scene 2- Gas station.
• Cinematography:
In this scene, Columbus is talking about the different rules for
survival from zombies. This is shown when the zombies are
after Columbus and the rules appear on the screen. During
this scene the camera zooms in on the zombies trying to get
him. This is done to show the audience the comical side to the
film as the character Columbus is an awkward teenager.
3. In this scene, it shows how the zombies are after Columbus. He is representing
how the rule s work and why there are rules. This also represents how
everyone has turned into a zombie.
4. Scene 2- Gas Station
• Mise en scene:
The gas station is abandoned as most of the people who was
around/ worked there is now a zombie. It is set at night as
only Columbus is around. It is set so there is no sign of a
zombie so Columbus looks safe. However that changes when
the zombies come to get him and then he representing the
rules he has created.
5. During this scene, Columbus is representing the fear of the unknown. He is
scared that zombies are going to see him and come after him. However he
is showing how he is also prepared for them of they do come.
6. Scene 4- New character is introduced
• Cinematography:
In this scene a new character is introduced who is not a Zombie.
This comes as a shock not only to Columbus but also to the
audience as they thought Columbus was the only person who
was still human. The character is first portrayed as a
mysterious character as he doesn't seem friendly. Also we
don't know his name which means that we don't know his
background or how he has survived.
7. This is when the new character is introduced, at first they are both seem worried at
first however they soon realise they are the only two left. The 2nd character is
mysterious as we don’t know how he's survived or what happened where he is from.
8. Scene 4- New character is introduced
• Mise en scene:
This scene is set on a abandoned road with abandoned cars
everywhere to represent what has been going on. It is set in
daytime and this is when the 2 characters meet. It represents
the tragedy of what is happening and how many people have
lost their life.
9. This scene represents how nobody is around. It shows how sad it is
from what has happened.
10. Sound
• During the film, there is non-diegetic sound of
the protagonist’s voice over, as well as the
background music which mainly consists of
heavy metal genre music.
• This matches the zombie horror genre
presented in the film.
11. Editing
• The editing within the movie is used to show
the rules of surviving against the zombies.
• The sound is also mixed with editing to finalise
some of the scenes within Zombie Land.
• Also when the zombies are getting killed, the
makeup effects and how the blood splats
across the footpath.
• There are simple cuts between the zombies
and the characters.
13. Performance
• The performance from all the characters
represents the horror genre, from the
weapons to the volience.
• The performance from each character
represents the comedy and the horror genre
mixed together. There are some funny jump
scares and then some more serious horror
moments.
