Media- Pre-production
What Documentation? Why is it needed?
Script It is needed to set out the vision of the planned film and it gives you
initial ideas about what you will need throughout the process. It also
enables you to carry out practical planning in your areas.
Storyboard This is needed so the producer can visualise written ideas and to
make sure they work and enables the story into shots. It also allows
planning for locations, sets, props and costume.
Budget This is needed because the producer needs to make sure that they
can afford what they need for shooting and allows the producers to
see what money can be spent and if any profit can be made.
Recce and Risk Assessment This ensures that your proposed locations and set are fitted for the
cast and purpose. It also makes sure any hazards that might cause
harm to the people on set. This also protects the filmand producers
from legal liability. This is also needed for insurance.
Production Schedule This make sure that time is being used efficiently and effectively so
the producers know how much time they have. By using this, the
producers are able to use call sheets and also making sure the
budget is being used on the correct equipment.
Contributors Release Form This is to cover the producers legally and ensure to any contributor
to your finished product has consented to appear in or be a part of
the finished product.
Call sheets This is needed for the production schedule so all the cast know
where they needed to be and what time they need to be there. This
can also minimise the costs as there is an efficient schedule in place.
Equipment booking form Like for call sheets but with stuff rather than people.
Edit decision list This is needed to create a detailed record of what you shoot it and
save time in the editing process by making notes. This is also needed
for evaluating the shoot and to be organised when starting the edit.
