Aaron and Logan are roommates but sadly can’t pay rent. So they decide to get another
roommate so they can then start paying some of the rent. They end up getting a girl called
Amelia Blake to be their new roommate. The first few days of her moving in are fine but
then one day Aaron goes to work and leaves Logan at home with Amelia. This is when weird
stuff starts happening like weird noises and things turning on and off randomly. Logan
investigates these weird goings on and discovers Amelia is possessed. He tries to tell Aaron
when he gets home but Aaron doesn’t believe him. Logan tries to get footage himself on a
camera. He thinks he catches her doing something but when he goes to check the footage
it’s a video of when Aaron and Logan first moved in together. Logan watches the footage
and sees Amelia standing hidden in the background. Logan then sets up hidden cameras
round the house. On one of the cameras Amelia Is stood over Aaron whilst he is sleeping.
He then becomes possessed by her and they both start to haunt Logan by always staring at
him round the house.
5. Plot-Firstapproachforouridea
After a few days, Logan finds footage that shows him, Aaron and Amelia standing by
Aaron's bed shaking, and Amelia goes up to the camera when Aaron starts shaking in the
background, Amelia is walking up to the camera and says ‘I'm coming to get you (laughs)
I'm coming to get!’. Logan is watching the video in Amelia's bedroom when Aaron walks
by the bedroom and sees Logan in Amelia's room. Logan sees Aaron's shadow in the
corner of his eyes, he drops the camera and runs out of the apartment. Logan tries to
escape Aaron and Amelia, and in the rush Logan runs into the woods where it is very
dark. Logan runs and runs until he thinks it's far enough from Aaron and Amelia. When
he stops to take a break, few seconds later Amelia shows up behind him (laughing) and
says ‘you think you can run away from me’ (laughs). Logan runs again, while he is running,
Logan trips on something and falls down, and when he gets up, he hears footsteps
moving around him, he turns his phone flash on to look around his environment, after
that he puts the flash on his face and that is when Aaron comes from the back and gets
him.
7. ChallengingorConforming?
We are challenging general conventions of horror films by
having a female as the threatening character opposed to a
women in need. We also challenge the male gaze theory by not
using the female character as being objectified or over
sexualised.
8.
9. UniqueSellingPoint
Our unique selling point includes challenging conventions
within the media about the vulnerability of women. Women are
usually seen as the character who needs to be saved by a
stereotypically strong man, although our trailer shows the
woman as a strong, independent character. This will attract
our audience as it goes against the ‘normal’ horror film
conventions. The feminist theory talks about how women do not
want to be seen as the vulnerable character in this era.
Considering our main gender of audience is female, we are
trying to give them what they want.
10. Camera’sused
We’re going to shoot all of our footage on a Nikon D3200
and an iPhone 6. The camera on the iphone 6 is good but
it’s only just to be used for shots where it appears that
Logan is vlogging and on a time lapse we are going to
include because the iphone 6 has a feature that allows to
film a time lapse easily. The Nikon D3200 camera is high
definition so that’s going to be used for any shots that
aren’t being vlogged. The Nikon shoots on 1080p
resolution and so does the iPhone 6, this means that all
footage will be high quality and we can show it on a 35mm
projector. This will make it a better watching experience
for the audience.
11. TargetAudience
17-19 year old females
After we collected all of our responses from our questionnaires and analysed them
we compared all of our responses and saw that most of the people who watch
horror films are females between the ages of 17-19. Before the questionnaires we
had decided to aim it at males that were between the ages of 15-19 but after we
analysed the responses we realised that girls watch horrors more than boys.
12. Howwewilltargetthem
The responses from our questionnaires shown us that more people go to watch films on
online film streaming sites like Netflix, Amazon and Sky Go. This means that we would
have our trailer played as an advert before the film starts playing. This way the audience
will see our trailer because they will have to watch it before the film starts. We’d also
include covert advertising on social media websites this is because our target audience
are females that are 17-19 year olds and they use social media quite a lot, we will have
pictures and links to our trailer going down the sides of the websites.
