2. This advert features the entire band in it, but Hayley
Williams is in the middle, pulling all focus to her, which
reinforces the idea that she emasculates the entire band
by being the “front-man”, and female. She automatically is
rebelling against the normality of the modern industry
purely by being a woman who is in a punk band. As well as
this, the advert features the butterfly wings that appear on
their album cover, and this links to some of their songs and
the recurring themes and messages.
The colour scheme of this advert is simultaneously
relevant and irrelevant to their music. The dark and dim
colours can be linked to the depth and emotional content
of their lyrics, but is completely opposite to the upbeat
tone of their music.
As this is an advert for a live concert, the date and venue id
featured at the bottom, along with a website and number
to call for tickets. This is written in the same colour as the
bands name, a pale yellow that also links with the colour of
the butterfly wings.
3. This album advert features the bands classic logo, but with a
different colour scheme than it usually had. The background
is faded, ripped and worn, which links to the bands style.
Their worn down and stripped back grunge style. The actual
image is very cryptic, and possibly has connotations which
can be associated with the band Christian faith.
It sees a boy being lifted from the ground by birds, which
are definitely a common theme in the bible, often being
symbolic of hope. The idea of someone being lifted by
hope, definitely is apparent in their music.
It also creates the idea of vulnerability and loneliness, as he
appears to be alone and the way in which he hangs his head
could signify his uncomfortably in the world. Again this links
the themes apparent through most of their songs.
4. This album advert features the artist posing in a mid-shot. The pose
is very ethereal and mysterious, which can be said to represent the
musical style of the artist. Also the clothing which she is wearing is
very floaty and mystical, creation imagery of indie and delicate
music.
The background of this advert is very dark, which contrast heavily to
other elements of the advert. The flowers for example, are a bright
pink and green which stands out against the dark and dim
background. It also means that her dress appears whiter and
brighter, and appear to be slightly angelic compared to the
blacky/grey background.
This dark background also means that the writing is forced to stand
out as well, as it is also written in white. The artists name is written
in a different font than the album name, perhaps because the fonts
are being used to represent the different tones, as the artists name
is a constant tone or brad, but the album can be different to the last
albums style.
