Hepatitis D, also known as Hepatitis Delta Virus, is an infection that causes liver inflammation and impairs liver function. It can lead to long-term liver problems like scarring and cancer. Hepatitis D can only infect people who are already infected with Hepatitis B. There is currently no cure or vaccine for Hepatitis D, but treatment may help prevent liver failure if detected early. The virus is transmitted through contact with blood or bodily fluids of an infected person.
